Two problems.
1. I have trouble loading pages like
http://productforums.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/hangouts/kzg-hqiDANc where it just shows "loading" where comments / messages should show, but the basic page layout is fine. Other websites load fine.
2. I can't find solutions while on the go for this issue: iPhone users msg in group text but I get only "touch to load mms message" 1kb etc. Using hangouts. Haven't experimented with switching mms app yet

Hi,
i have a problem with the official Facebook App on my SGS running 2.2.3
I did receive a normal message yesterday. That message did show on web and on my mobile. I did also receive a notification on my mobile. I answered that message via web. It did show on web and on my mobile too.
My dialog partner replied. This reply only shows on my mobile, but NOT on web. All my consecutively replies where done via web. They show on my mobile and on web. However all the answers i received are ONLY visible on my mobile, not on web. In fact, the intact conversation history is visible on my phone. On web facebook, i only see the first message i received and the answers i did but not the messages my dialog partner did send me.
Whats wrong there?
I am using the latest facebook app (26. April) and i am also using the new facebook messaging system.
Anyone else noticed something like that? How to fix that?
greetings
Same problem with me. Using HTC HD2 WinMo 6.5 and the latest facebook app 1.1.0.26. My facebook is with the new message system, too.
I think i have found the issue. Its not because of the FB app, but because of the dialog partner using the new and the old messaging system.
As a workaround, you can see all the messages via the mobile facebook webpage:
m.facebook.com
Thats the reason it works for mobile phones but not for the "original" facebook website.
Another workaround is, to invite the dialog partner to the new messaging system. But i didnt had a chance to verify if that works.
Hi Folks
Little issue i'm having. My messaging app is not deleting messages when it goes over the limit set. I have set the limit of messages per conversation to 200 but it doesn't seem to do anything. I have many threads now with way over the 200 message limit.
I'm using Go SMS and the limit is set via the standard HTC messaging app as many of you will know. This feature worked fine on my old Wildfire and i also used Go SMS on that.
Funny how most people have issues with messages disappearing when i can't get the damn things to delete themselves! lol
Any advice appreciated!
Kenny
IIRC, Go SMS has an option in its settings to make Go SMS as the default messaging app.
Deselect the option so the native Messaging app would have control, just don't forget to turn off the notification so you don't get doubles.
Hope it helps
I found that just setting the max, doesn't cause the instant deletion of all conversion texts past that max, the deletion occurs conversion by conversion the next time that there is text activity within a particular conversation thread.
Although I must add that I still use messaging app as default and not one from market, although as I use a custom I have Sense 3.0 app.

So lately I've been having some annoying SMS/MMS issues that are starting to grind my gears and I'm starting to feel a bit of resentment over the phone.
I've been getting complaints of iPhone users receiving my SMS twice. I'm seeing that when this happens, I get a "message failed" error in other SMS apps other than the stock SMS app, and then it sends right away. This problem can be recreated on both the stock SMS app and Play Store apps.
I'm also getting this extremely annoying problem with MMS where I can't receive files bigger than 600 KB. I get the error "One or more of the message components have been deleted by MMS Adaptation. Either the message was too large or the components were unsuitable for your terminal." This is happening on a message over 800 KB.
Has anyone experienced these issues? Is this carrier related? I refuse to believe that my phone will not receive 1 MB or bigger MMS messages, as I'm sure it's quite capable of doing.
Also, does anyone have the APN for HSPA+ without LTE? I'm thinking maybe the SMS problem has to do with the network I'm operating on. Please advise.
Edit: the MMS limitation is due to the stock SMS application. the limit for files received is 600 KB while other applications can download well over 1.2 MB. My problem is solved, I'll have to find another viable SMS application.
Look at my thread about similar issues with sms. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1656203

Hi,
Did you fix this issue with the recipient received your SMS 2 times?
I am using the stock app and never tried any Play Store app.
For me this happen to an Android Phone too.
Maybe your phone heard you were gonna take her back and now she's mad and is refusing to talk

My phone is send *and* receiving duplicate SMSes from iPhones. Very annoying.
Used to have problems
I used to have mms problems, but ever since i flashed the CleanRom 2.4 on my phone, everything has been peachy keen
coming from a heavily jailbroken iphone, I can say that I do love rooting a whole lot more. I love how android operates and is so similar to linux
OP, not sure which app you were using, but I know ChompSMS was producing the exact results you were reporting.
1) Multiple messages sent / SMS Failed etc. This will show up in both Chomp and the stock app. (FIXED by latest Chomp update!)
2) MMS Adaptation. I have found that this is specifically when iPhone users send you a screengrab of their display. Those are saved in .png instead of .jpg and do not share the same compression rate. Obviously you could just have a really big .jpg, but most likely it is the former.
3) General MMS issues. This will occur if you do not disable "Auto-retrieve" in the stock Messages app.
I know it's a week later, but hopefully this saves you a headache or trips to the AT&T store.
I had completely forgotten about chomp. Thanks for reminding me. I started using it and while I still get messages not sending if I reply to a text from the pop up notification, it doesn't do it nearly as much as go sms. With go sms, the message not sending would happen one after another but not with chomp. And even though I don't like the sound, I've set chomp to make a sound after a successful sent message so at least I can tell if my message has sent without having to open the app.
Thanks again for mentioning chomp

I have an issue in GoSMS where, whenever I send a message in a group chat, it ends up showing up twice. The first time the message appears and then a few seconds later I "receive" a message from myself (as if I was another user in the group chat) and the message pops up again, this time prefaced with my name and a ":" - e.g. My Name: The weather sure is nice
Anyone else come across this and know how to fix it?
Thanks.
Yes i experience that. Ive tried many different roms but still have the same result. Kinda really sucks but i guess the skyrocket handles text messages differently?

Ok, so I had a Samsung for about a year and its stock messaging app worked very well with my 7k+ messages-- there was no lag or delay in opening up threads-- buttery smooth. I decide to come back to HTC with the M8 and it chokes every time I open a large thread taking about 20 seconds before I can see the thread. Is there messaging replacement that I can use that will handle large threads more gracefully, say by showing the most recent messages first and then pulling messages as I scroll back in time? Is there a flashable AOSP messaging app available? Is it possible to flash the Samsung messaging app on an HTC device?
Uninterested in the following-- if you're going to propose any of them then just move along and find another thread to expend your energies:
1. Commercial "solutions"
2. "Why would you want to do that anyway?"
3. "Hangouts works great"
Thanks in advance.

I've been using HoverChat. I like the fact that it gives me a floating window to respond so I do not need to leave the current app. Everything seems to work fairly well.

If it takes 20 seconds to open a thread, I would think you've got something wrong. But, Evolve SMS isn't bad.
I would recommend the verizon messages app because it allows your text and pic messages to send over wifi. My next choice would be handscent or go sms pro.

Ditto. I initially RAN from VZW messaging app but then I found that I quite like it. And in roaming areas I can text on wifi. And when I am texting at work I am able to text from my computer.
