[LG APP] Enable Group Messaging - G2 Themes and Apps

It was brought to my attention that some of these G2 variants aren't supplying their stock Messaging Apps with the ability to Group Message:

And I'll soon Upload the APK from the Verizon LG G2 that has this feature. I don't know what it will break (if anything) and you will need Root and a file explorer to copy the file over.
Attached Uploaded files here.
The Name is LGUSMms.apk. So you will probably need to rename it to match whatever your existing MMS apk is named. Also the SMS portion, which may be needed to call the MMS apk is named VZWSMS (Verizon SMS). So it seems it is specific. This will also probably need to be renamed to match your existing Messaging.
I had to ZIP the files because of the size. So you would just unzip and manually move into:
Code:
/SYSTEM/APP/
Also check permissions.

I think mine sends group messages fine but receives them individually. I'm on T-Mobile variant.

Thanks, I definitely wanna give this a shot.

Let me know if this is what you guys were asking for.

Receiving generally is more based on how the user responds to you and if they're enabled for group messages or if they even want too.

I have the T-Mobile variant too, I don't think it sends group messages but just sends mass messages. Which are two different things. ( I could be wrong)
I don't know why LG or T-Mobile could make this easier on everyone. Only solution that I know is to download a third-party app. Which sometimes for me messes with the original sms app. Plus, I love the popup for the original sms app.

Yeah it allows you to send to 10 people. I can use go sms and group messages are fine.
I like the stock sms on the G2 as well but been using hangouts for most stuff now. Hangouts isn't quite fully-featured yet though so on occasion I will use stock. No more go sms unless I'm backing up messages.

No dice for me on Sprint. I didn't think it would be this easy, but I was hoping. Lol It didn't even show up in my App Drawer. Thanks for posting these though.

Have you tried renaming them and replacing your existing apps?
LG is good at blocking apps from appearing in the launcher. The FM Radio is another example. I would think that if you made backups of your old APKs and replaced them with these, the tie-ins would allow it to be launched.

Not working here on AT&T either.

Yeah I'm on T-Mobile and able to send group message but the end user receivers it individually. Android should copy iPhone group SMS

Yeah, backed up my stock apk, loaded both files and their odex files. Set permissions to RW-R-R on all and rebooted. Didn't see anything. Then I tried just the mms apk by itself and nothing. Then I deleted the odex and tried that. Never got the app to show up in my app drawer. I didn't have to rename the file, it shares the exact same name.

Same as above tho the D802 apk name is LGMessage.apk.

What carrier are you on? I'm on AT&T and am not happy to find out that this feature does not work

Cant believe a brand new flagship android phone does not have group mms. Insane. I'm using 8sms from the app store in the meantime. You have to remove the stock messaging app and set 8sms in standalone mode. It gets the job done pretty good.

Works great on mine VS980. The group tab will keep it in a group as MMS, and individual tab sends out separate texts (SMS).

Sucks that it didn't come standard on some G2 Models. So instead, I use Textra app from play store. The best light weight sms/mms messaging app. Way smoother than stock one. Read the reviews...

Thanks for this!
I just made some minor adjustments including adding a few new language filters. Currently here is the breakdown of languages:
English: 130,886 apps
Chinese: 2,099 apps
Japanese: 1,433 apps
Korean: 1,249 apps
French: 808 apps
Spanish: 800 apps
German: 708 apps
The language is determined by running a language detection API against the app descriptions and titles. As far as I know this is the only app that lets you subscribe to apps by language.

confused on how to use this app?
I need some help understanding what this is, what it does, and how to use it.
Is it a second marketplace that is intended to replace the google marketplace?
If yes then I take it to mean that this app's intended use to to search, download, install, and maintain the apps on your phone?
Is this app intended to be used in conjunction with the google marketplace?
If yes then in what ways: searching, sorting, etc?
Is information shared between this app and the google marketplace? For exmaple if you can download apps from this app then do the downloaded apps also show up as being downloaded in the google marketplace?
The above are some of the questions I was thinking but if when replying you can think of other useful advice and info you want to share in how to use the app that would be appreciated.

Yes this can replace the market in terms of finding new apps. The point of this is to find good, new apps and closely monitor the market. It provides more advanced filters to find specifically what you want. It doesn't scan your apps and offer suggestions. That isn't the goal of this app.

Sorry, I missed the update to your post. The app actually sends you to the market when you choose an app, so yes the downloads count. This app only replaces the searching and browsing process. No data is shared between the two apps.

I was wondering if I could get some feedback on the name of this app. It's a different concept so I had a hard time coming up with a descriptive name. Some other ideas I had were Hawkee App Subscribe, Hawkee Market Subscribe, Hawkee App Monitor, or Hawkee Market Monitor.

Once i installed this app i cannot access the "downloads" section in my regular market. it either says theres no connection, or it force closes. Ive tried uninstalling Hawkee, wiping market data, uninstalling/reinstalling regular market, rebooting.....nothing is fixing this problem, which is obviously a major one

This seems to be unrelated. Did you recently upgrade your market app? This app doesn't have any connection with the market app. It only sends you there when you pick an app.

Nope my last market update was last week. i was browsing my downloads earlier today to check for application updates which i normally do.
i understand that you want to preserve the reputation of your app, and i can respect that. however it seems like a distinct possibility that this app caused this problem. earlier in this thread another poster claimed that this app had an effect on his market, as well.
this is not a personal attack, and there obviously is a chance that both of these incidences are coincidence. but it doesnt sound like it. you may want to look into it, since this app is now public on the forum, youd definitely rather have 2 complaints than several. just a little advice, it doesnt hurt to check, rather than simply sweeping it under the rug.
all i know and can say, aside from i love the idea of your app, ever since installing my market has been malfunctioning, even after a system install/uninstall.
TopShelf, Thanks for the response. I'm sorry to sound like I was so easily dismissing your problem, but I'm on my laptop now and can look into this more thoroughly. I researched the issue you described and came up with this thread:
http://www.google.fm/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=5f475fcdfcc22233&hl=en
The conclusion seems to be that it's a problem on Google's end. People were pointing out a few apps that, when uninstalled, fixed the problem temporarily. But it seems there is no permanent fix yet. Some people suggested installing AppBrain in order to update your apps, but that's certainly not a long term solution.

Hi guys, my first post for those that are having trouble with your music library after trying to install the new Music App. TL;DR at end.
Step 1: Uninstall the Google Music app on your phone (the one that links to your Google Music Beta, not the Music app that came with the phone)
Step 2: Install the Google Music 4.0.1 apk.
Step 3: Once the app is installed Open it. You will have a notification in your status bar (It looks like a Triangle with an exclamation mark in it.) Pull down your menu and touch the item asking for permissions. It will ask if you would allow the app to access your Google account, agree to it. Now exit the Music App.
Step 4: Go to your Accounts and Sync Settings (Menu > Settings > Accounts and Sync) and select your Google account ([email protected]). In that menu you will see different items to sync including Books, Contacts, and etc. At this time you will not see Sync Music (at least I didn't). Press your menu button and select "Sync now" anyway.
Step 5: Go back to the Google Music App and now it will allow you to setup your music beta account and sync.
Hope this helps ^ ^, Good luck.
TL;DR > Uninstall previous google music apps, Install new one, Allow permissions, Sync Google account.

Found a way to choose my Bluetooth button app with Google now installed

I apologize if this is the wrong section for this but I thought this would be good info for the developers. If your on a jellybean ROM or a ICS ROM with Google now,you probably find it annoying the voice dialer is used for Bluetooth with no way to choose a different voice app. I have found a way. I have only tried this on paranoidandroid 2.1 which is CM10 so I don't know if this will work on any other ROMs, not tested yet on a touchwiz or ICS ROM.
ALWAYS HAVE A NADROID BACKUP MADE IN CASE SOMETHING GOES WRONG.
Its super easy. I did a full wipe and flash first although I don't think its necessary. I updated your Google search app to the latest version thru the market first. I then went into titanium backup and converted Google search to a user app. That's it! Now when I press the Bluetooth button, I can choose my preferred voice app Eva, I can choose Google search which is voice dialer, or I can choose Bluetooth launch, which can be used to launch Google voice search.
Remember I just discovered this like 90 minutes ago and only tried it on one CM10 ROM, so it may not work on others.
Also for those on paranoid android, there is a separate app called voice dialer installed, which appears to be the ICS voice dialer. I uninstalled this first. After doing that bluetooth button would use Google now voice dialer, untilbi converted Google search to a user app.

do you have TiBU Pro (paid key)? converting to User App is one of the Pro features.
Yes it starts and then says it cannot complete. Maybe its my synergy ROM but if beans works I figured syn would too.

Are you trying to convert the app named google search or the app named voice search? Voice search I got that error. Google search worked.
Just noticed that if I set one of the apps to be default for bluetooth button, i lose the default on a reboot and get the choice menu again. Wondering if anyone else gets that.
op, add [mod] to the thread title! btw nice work

I am so glad you posted this method because I was getting frustrated having spent $100 on a Plantronics Voyager Pro BT headset.
Prior to this, it didn't have any of the functionality or accuracy that I had on a cheapie non-android prepaid cell!
It was not straightforward/clear how to switch to a user app in Titanium Backup Pro, so here are quick instructions:
Open TiBackup and select Backup/Restore
Select Google Search
On the popup screen, scroll to the right to select "Special Features" for Google Search
Select "Convert to system app" near the bottom of the options
I also went into System -> Apps then selected "All" to find "Voice Dialer" and Disabled it.
I don't know if this is a necessary step, but I did not want to uninstall voice dialer because I thought that perhaps it might be needed by other apps.
The approach sounds promising, in that the change would lower the priority of Google Search, but running stock 4.1.1, rooted, on my GN, I didn't see any option in TB to make Google Search a User app. I will go back and try again later, but perhaps this method won't work with my setup.

Under stock, rooted, 4.1.2 convert to system app does not show up as a TB option for Google search. Yes, I'm using the pro version and it shows up as an option for other system files but not for Google search.
YES!! It worked for me... but I've to say that the app I've converted in user app is not "Google voice search" but "Voice commands" (in my Italian Phone is Compositore Vocale) that in my phone (SGS2 + cm10 NB 10/29/2012) was the one starting when the Bluetooth headset button is pressed. Finally I can use again my Cyberon Voice Commander in CM10 on SGS2 (i9100) !!!:victory:
thanks a lot sfetaz...:good:

[APP] Whatsapp Not Last Seen

Hi all today I present you with NOT LAST SEEN for Whatsapp
In no way did I develop or create this app I am simply Just Sharing with you guys.
At last, you can hide the Whatsapp "Last seen" message! You will be able to use Whatsapp at any time and anyone will know it!
Thanks to this application no one will be able to see the last time you have used Whatsapp. However... You will be able to see your friends "Last seen"!
Enter to whatsapp as usually, block process is automatic. you don't have to enter to any application to block your last seen.
Important: While you are in Whatsapp you don’t received messages and you can write them but they won’t be send. When you leave Whatsapp or turn off the screen, your written messages will be send and your pending ones will be received.
The changes done to config Mobile Data are only notified when done from Android default menu.
Please use Android default menu to turn on/off Mobile Data(Settings->Data usage) while "Last Seen" are blocking, don't use widget or shortcut.
How does it work? When you are in whatsapp, automatically, your network is disabled to block "last seen" notification. Once out of Whatsapp(or turn off screen), automatically, your network is restored to the previous state.
You can see your friends "Last seen" while this application is enabled, just open the conversation of your friend, press home button, wait for some seconds and open whatsapp again!
No ROOT needed.

 You can't see them, because you haven't a network connection if you open whatsapp... and if you have a connection, you will send your status.

Isn't there a way to modify the apk file of whatsapp if your rooted to take this setting away?

List of useful "root apps"??

Hi all, I'm looking to root my note 10.1 and perhaps install a new rom . However, I can't seem to find a list of apps that are for root only.
I am aware of a couple of essentials like the add one and triangle away one but what do you boys and girls consider to be the essential apps or fun apps to have for your rooted device?
I have tried searching for root apps in Google and I just get how to root in return so that hasn't been any help at all. So I thought I would ask you all.
So what are the essential root apps that work with the note 10.1?
Many thanks in advance?

thank you sooo much
I understand (importance differs now).
I guess I would love to know which root apps people are using as im a bit of a noob to the root thing. I have done it in the past (long time ago) on sgs1 but only to flash a new rom. On this occasion i only want to root and keep stock for now. knowing what apps were being used by 'experts' (anyone rooted -lol) would help me install the right things. IM beginning to get a picture now of what could be possible. I couldn't find any 'list' so your input and the input of others has helped me gather a list of about 6 root apps to install. So any other info would be gratefully accepted
here are all mine...
of course don't forget supersu..

that means I can now root and go ahead and try some of these things. Im not sure what Gtalk enabler is - isn't that hangouts or is that google 'telephone' chat thing and will it work in the UK?
As for the emulator - Ill have to check that out to. that is a really cool list! I hope others follow suit with lists similar. very helpful indeed

Must Have Root App
To me, Multiwindow Manager Pro is a MUST. It make all apps multi window enabled (or just the ones you choose).
I second the Multi Window Manager and Titanium. I also use the XPosed Framework with the XPosed App Settings module allowing display customization of individual apps including DPI and removal of title bar - very handy particularly when reducing how much screen space an app takes up in multi window.

I don't have a Note 10.1 (my uncle does) but for me it all depends on what you want them to do on your particular device, and your needs. For instance, my galaxy player didn't manage memory well so I needed an app to do that.
Also if you want to see most of the root apps in the play store, just type in "root". You still have to do a bit of digging to see which ones suit you but at least it gives you a better start. Anyways my list is as follows:
SuperSU/Super User- This is a mandatory install because you need to give root apps super user permission to work with your system. It doesn't matter which one you pick, because they both work really well.
SuperSU- https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwxLDEsImV1LmNoYWluZmlyZS5zdXBlcnN1Il0.
SuperUser - https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5ub3NodWZvdS5hbmRyb2lkLnN1Il0.
/system/app mover - It can set/remove apps as a system app, meaning you can remove all the bloatware off a device or set apps of your choosing that can't be uninstalled from the launcher. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.systemappmover&hl=en
AdFree- Gets rid of Ads (no longer in the playstore)
Auto Memory Manager- As the name states it automatically frees up your ram in order to keep your device running smoothly. You can set thresholds, tell which apps to ignore, and etc to customize when you want it to start managing your ram. You don't have to have root, but it works much better with it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wxLDEsImNvbS5saW0uYW5kcm9pZC5hdXRvbWVtbWFuIl0.
Clean Master- This app is almost a jack of all trades. Not only does it also manager your ram. It cleans out junk files that are unneeded, deletes private data (i.e web browers data), and can move to SD, Uninstaller, or Backup your apps. It is very easy to use. I think of it as the CCleaner for Android.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5jbGVhbm1hc3Rlci5tZ3VhcmQiXQ.
CPU Master Free- This is a cpu controller that can set your max, min, scaling, have profiles (if using pro), can control your i/o scheduler, and voltage. This pretty much means your can increase the performance of a device, or increase battery life. It's really nice for a free app. However, almost any cpu controller app does just fine. I heard SetCPU and Tegrak were the best.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEsImNvbS5hbnR1dHUuQ3B1TWFzdGVyRnJlZSJd
DSPManager 1.0 (not in the playstore anymore either) - This app really helps out with the quality of music, and you can set profiles for headset, BT, and speaker
Root Uninstaller- This is one of the best and most essential root apps imo. This backs up apps as an actual apk file automatically. It also treats updates for apps as a separate file too. On top of that it can restore apps, reset apps to their original state, freeze apps, and etc.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEsImNvbS5yb290dW5pbnN0YWxsZXIuZnJlZSJd
Titanium BackUp Free- If something doesn't work in root uninstaller I use this. It does everything that root uninstall does, and a bit more. The only thing is it doesn't back up apps as apk files. I still consider it to be a 5 star root app. Just make sure you have Busy Box installed.
Titanium BackUp Free- https://play.google.com/store/apps/...DEsImNvbS5rZXJhbWlkYXMuVGl0YW5pdW1CYWNrdXAiXQ..
Busy Box https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwxLDEsImV1LmNoYWluZmlyZS5zdXBlcnN1Il0.
Have fun searching and looking for the apps that best suit you.
that list was from my phone on the tablet you don't need gtalk enabler unless you have a tablet with phone service and your carrier like at&t here doesn't allow video calls in Google talk aka hangouts over cell service... it gets around that...

Well... I started by rooting my s3. Haven't rooted the note just yet. Wanted to play around with some of the things there first. It was rally easy to do. So far downloaded:
Tasker - amazing app!
Add away - woks on most things but couldn't handle chomp sms
LMT - nice launcher!
CPU - works well but not sure if i have the setting correct on that
secure settings - this works well with tasker
Helper - works with tasker.
Mobile Odin - just in case
Greenify - excellent battery saver - that's for sure!
still to play with titanium back up. and a few others... any other tips... gratefully accepted Still trying to get used to a number of things listed above and figure out how to make them work for me but at least im gaining experience.
So... now I need to root my note 10.1 and see what works on that.
I have a slightly different question, although I think it fits in this thread.
I've rooted my N8010. Installed SuperSU, BusyBox, DropBear Server II.
Where can I find typical command line tools like scp, sftp and rsync? Many apps mention these tools, but none of them seem to install these tools in /system/[x]bin for global access.
