So I wanted to root my One S and install CWM.
What I did was use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604677 this tool, everything went fine. I used the TWRP recovery, it booted fine.
Tried to install CWM, found out my Hboot was too low (think it was 1.14.0.02).
Extracted the hboot.img from the CWM zip, installed it:
C:\Users\aSCO\Desktop\blabla\fastboot flash boot boot.img
sending 'boot' (5688 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.890s]
writing 'boot'...
OKAY [ 1.390s]
finished. total time: 2.280s
then fastboot reboot.
Now the ühone won't turn one, LED doesn't shine when connected to charger. From time to time it turns on, show the HTC screen (with text 'this is a developer version etc'), then turns back off.
Any hope there for me? What did I do wrong?
EDIT: I managed to get into fastboot, what's the best way to go on from here? The Hboot version number is still the same, is there another recommended boot.img that I could flash?
EDIT2: Managed to fix this, cannot find an option to delete the thread ...

I tried to flash a new rom last night and it's all gone wrong. I'll list below what I did and what is happening below.
1. I managed to get s-off no problem.
2. Installed cwm recovery no problem.
3. Super cid went fine.
4. Wanted to flash Android Revolution HD 6.8.0
5. Flashed 3.33.401 firmware, no problem.
6. This is where it has gone wrong.......I ran superwipe. This has done the damage. It said instaltion aborted after that when I try to go to recovery it just goes straight to HTC screen and hangs. If I take the battery out it does the same. I t was getting late so I left it till the morning. All it is doing now is when I plug it in the yellow light flashes then goes solid, the cwm flashes very briefly and goes off. It does this a couple of times then the phones goes dead, no light or anything. If I take battery out it just does the same cycle.
Please help.....is this any way recoverable?

hi,
i suggest you to flash 4ext recovery
then from recovery choose format all partitions except sdcard
after that flash the rom
you will be fine
4ext

step 2 on how to flash 4ext recovery
Ok I've managed to get it back to bootloader but it won't allow me to flash. It starts and says
C:\Android>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
sending 'recovery' (6116 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.493s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: not allowed)
finished. total time: 1.823s
Maybe the de-bugging is turned off

Hi,
Look HERE
Use third method.
Wait I've managed to re-unlock my bootloader again and flashed the 4ext. These have both worked, flashing rom now let you know.
I've fixed it, thank you very much for help. You have made my Christmas.
Glad it all worked out for you! Had some very helpful members with those suggestions. Merry Christmas!
I got a new problem. I have s_off two phones already and my friend asked me to do his. I did the dev unlock and then tried to s_off with juopunutbear. It didn't work I keep trying it and it keeps rebooting after I touch it with the wire once. It won't even boot to android anymore it just sits there with the juopunutbear screen showing and that's it. I can't understand as I'm doing the same as I did with my other two phones.
Hey guys,
my bootloader is unlocked - so far, so good. however though, when I want to flash cwm, I'm getting this result:
C:\xyz>fastboot flash recovery cwmrecovery.img
(bootloader) Variable not supported!
target reported max download size of 31457280 bytes
sending 'recovery' (6632 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.558s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 1.838s]
finished. total time: 2.397s
so it looks successful. But I still have the stock recovery. When I'm trying the rom manager from the playstore alternatively, I'm getting an error right aways after the cwm download (looks as if nothing happened in between). Error message is simply "An error occurred while flashing your recovery"
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
After you fastboot flash recovery, IMMEDIATELY reboot to recovery. Do not reboot to Android.
Take a backup. Then boot to Android... should stick.
Yeah, I learned that the hard way....

Weird! I had the similar issue as described above. I'm able to successfully flash the CWM flash to the SPH-710 for me. However, can't boot INITIALLY to the CWM boot; It's able to successfully go into normal boot; But Volume-UP, Center button Power button, just blinks the custom boot screen once then the screen becomes blank for some time.
Can't get out of the Stock ROM boot up to CWM;
Got desire HD which has a faulty firmware and most of the process gets killed and im unable to do anything like installing new app, Bluetooth connection or accessing memory through PC.
However, it does lets me connect to the PC
Details of DHD:
2.3.3
S-OFF
Stock recovery
Background:
Since I’m unable to install any app in it, I got hold of iRoot software and it says rooted successfully
now I got few recoveries
Problem:
adb reboot bootloader .. Goes to fastmode usb
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img … CMD says everything went successful
sending 'recovery' (4002 KB)... OKAY [ 0.777s]
writing 'recovery'... OKAY [ 1.372s]
finished. total time: 2.150s
fastboot reboot
Now it reboots and starts again in android. When I go back to bootloader screen it is still the same no custom recovery installed?
I also have tried going to 'recovery' option in bootloader after flashing recovery the phones gets stuck on HTC green logo and white background

I think when you flash a recovery and you boot into android, android overwrites the custom recovery with the stock one. Try to boot to recovery without booting in android.
I have an old HTC ONE S (z560e => S3 CPU as I now know).
1) I managed to unlock the boot loader (htcdev)
2) Probably managed to get root access (r3-ville-superboot was fast and error free)
3) However them "recovery install apps" (CWM, TWRP) still clamied they'd need root
access but "superuser or su are not to be found"; weird, considering success of 2)
4) hence I tried to flash twrp recovery manually via
Code:
fastboot.exe flash recovery twrp-3.0.0-0-ville.img
message was
Code:
sending 'recovery' (11896 KB)...
OKAY [ 2.078s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 3.845s]
finished. total time: 5.931s
And that's it. won't boot anymore. I apparently got the S4 version of twrp-3.0...
Holding in power button for ~10 secs has it very shortly flash the screen and turn on the oragne LED for ~4 secs, then it's black again.
Any idea what went wrong?
Any chance how to save that situation?
Hello,
Edit: Don't know how or why, but after a couple of more tries I was able to boot the recovery directly and flash the rom. So everything is working fine right now. Admin/mod, would you like to close this thread? Thank you
For some reason I wanted to flash a new rom on my XT1039. In the process I screwed up and got it softbricked. I already had a look at the thread started by alfread56 and although the situation seems quite similar, the offered solutions didn't work out for me.
Right now my phone doens't have any rom installed. Flashing twrp with fastboot suggest everything works allright (using a linux system by the way):
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
(bootloader) has-slot:recovery: not found
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'recovery' (8314 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.295s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.303s]
finished. total time: 0.598s
After the reboot and holding the buttons for recovery mode I still get the stock recovery screen. When I select recovery in this menu, the phone shuts down. Because I know holding the recovery buttons on reboot takes some timing, I have redone the procedure of flashing twrp and holding the buttons numerous times. But it never went to the twrp recovery.
Then I tried to boot the twrp image directly with
$ fastboot boot recovery.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 0.290s]
booting...
OKAY [ 0.230s]
finished. total time: 0.520s
Here I made a mistake: I have also flashed the boot partition with the twrp image with fastboot flash boot recovery.img (don't know how much of problem this is).
Booting up the TWRP image works fine. Then I've wiped dalvik, cache, data, internal storage and after several runs also deleted system by accident, and factory reset. When trying to flash the lineage zip everything works out fine for about 1 second, then the screen flashes en the phone is back in the TWRP screen. Too quick for me to see what the output is, but I do see there are not red marked lines (no errors)
I have tried it with several different ROMS (al checked), with several versions of TWRP and with fastboot and mfastboot. Does anybody know a solution on how to get twrp recovery working on my phone, or why I can't flash a rom when I boot twrp directly? Any help is appreciated!
Thank you in advance.
