mms customizing - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I recently started messing around with decompliling apks and customizing them. Right now I'm a little stuck on the aosp MMS apk. I've decompiled it and successfully added a background to the conversation list page, the first page you see when you launch MMS, by changing values in the conversation_list_screen.XML in layout. For life in me I can't find where the value is for the actual message screen, the page you go to when you click on a conversation from the initial screen. I have been going through every XML there for 2 days now and I can't find which one holds that background value. Before people start yelling at me, I have spent hours searching Google and the only thing I can find is either an MMS apk that has already been customized, but won't work for me I've tried, or someone explaining how to do it with the stock touchwiz MMS. If it's needed I'm on PAC ROM android 4.3. Please, and a big thank you in advance.

[REQ] Modify Application - Last Call Widget

I would like to use this Widget again but simply cant stand for any background to it, as it doesn't then fit the rest of my simple no background widgets. I tried pulling the apk apart myself and editing the PNG files to be transparent but then I could not get the apk to install nor did pushing it to my device work at all.
If someone can tell me how to modify the apk or modify it for me, I'd be very appreciative.
I emailed the Dev of this and have not gotten a response about adding a transparent background option so that is why I am here now asking for help. Thanks.

So you can see what Last Call looks like I have attached a screen, I believe it is an issue with editing the .9 file. I can't figure out how to do it correctly, ugh..
No one eh? Does anyone think it's just a matter of figuring out how to edit these .9 files and I should be ok no need to resign the package? I Wish the dev would help out here, I'd gladly throw em ten spot for just changing the image background.
I've added a transparent style to the Widget (was a little bit more complicated to implement in practice than it sounds).
For future reference, nine-patch files are altered by the Android build system during compilation making it more difficult for a third party to make the changes described. Hope it suits your home screen.

[SOLVED] [Q] Soft Menu Text Color Change

I have searched the forums and I have looked at the suggestions that were shown to me before I posted here. I have found many threads that talk about how to do this, but none of them are using phones featuring HTC Sense. I have looked in Styles.xml and done the changes that were instructed to me, but they did not change the text to white like I wanted.
Has anybody been able to successfully change the text color in the soft menus in HTC Sense?
Solved
I'm going to answer my own question. DitINCtINC has figured out how to do it in this thread. It is also covered in this thread, too. He learned from looking at DistINCtINC's theme. I am coordinating with DistINCtINC to get a theme going that should be up in a few days that will be using these mods. I may post what I have tonight or tomorrow night just to get out what I have.
Good deal, It's a hard task and I'm happy someone else has decided to tackle it as well.

Help with customizing home cooked ROM

Hello all im new to making custom ROM's. I have nearly finished my G1 (HTC Dream) project and have hit a small bump. I would like to know which xml in which apk holds the default settings information, such as USB debugging enabled/disabled and other settings, when the ROM is installed for the first time.
Also I have ADWLauncher installed by default and was wondering, when I press the menu button I get a mini menu at the bottom of the screen, one of those options is 'Search' but i have removed this app from my default installed apps and thus it does not work, where is the xml for this aswell please.
Thankyou very much.
I really need help with this been running around google and found some people with the same question and thay also got no answer, Some one please answer thanx

Theming First CM7 Rom, Need Help Setting Defaults.

Ok so I have decided to make my first attempt at making a Themed CM7 Rom. For my first attempt I just decided to kind of port my phones original Stock Froyo Rom onto CM7. I figured I would do this first just to teach myself how to do things and not so much worry about things like style or images as most can just be swapped over as I have decompiled all the APK’s from both Roms. I have gotten pretty good as far as doing simple things like swapping or editing images and rebuilding the APK’s but there are a few things specific to CM7 that I have not been able to figure out. At first I thought that if I just kept looking I would find answers before running through all the APK’s. Now I’m just about done with all the APK’s and everything is working and looking good but I have yet to figure out the following before putting a stamp on the project.
1, Was actually how to enable a bootsound but have just figured it out.
2, the build I used for the theme came with the Nexus Live Wallpaper as the default. I have replaced the default wallpaper in the Framework-res but can’t figure out how to set it as the actual default and not the nexus. I have read on a few forums that I should find it in a strings.xml and replace “live wallpaper” with @Null but not only can I not find the entry it just does not sound correct, but I really have no idea.
3, How to change the default lockscreen style? Looking to set the sliding tab style as the default.
4, How to disable the glowing over scroll effect as a default?
I know these are probably Rooky questions but I am by all means a complete Rooky. Otherwise I am proud I got this far, the thing looks just like the crapy old glichy Froyo Rom. Anytime I would have an idea in the past I would loose interest in the idea in trying to figure out how to apply the idea. This kind of has worked out as I’m just about done and the next time an idea hits me I can be all over it. Anyhow any advice on the above three would rock. I did not think they would be as difficult as they are but I have been unable to find anything that has worked so far.

[Q] problems with modding SystemUI

Hello,
I'm making my verry first custom rom. It's based on another custom rom, 4.4.2, and it wil be for jiayu g4, just like the base rom. I realy enjoy doing this and I'm learning a lot. but I need your help with somthing.
I have been trying to mod the SystemUI.apk of my phone for more than a week now and I just can't seem to get it done.
The purpose is to change it so people can activate/deactivate and rearrange toggles in quick settings. The ROM already has the the quick settings tab (when touching the button above in the right corner), but there are just 13 toggles, and you can't deactivate and rearrange them. Also I would like to add some volume sliders in the notification tab since the volume panel isn't expandable.
I followed this guide ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53364269#post53364269 ) since that the closest guide I found to what I want, but I keep having problems with recompiling the app when it has to be done for the first time.
I tried with apktool1.5.2 and apktool2, I tried with multi-tools, I used baksmali-manager, I litterally tried almost everything but I keep getting errors saying "error for input '.parameter': invalid directive" and other errors relating smali.
I'm realy out of ideas and have already spend a lots of time on this, so could someone PLEAS take some time to help me out? I would realy appriciate it!
My phone is jiayu G4t, (mtk6589t) running custom rom (vredniiy) 4.4.2.
I'll attach my systemUI.apk, mediatek-res.apk, framework-res.apk and also an example of what the ideal would be
It would realy make my month or so if anyone could help me make it work!
anyone?
