In dark rooms when I turn my screen ON I can see a low light turning on before the screen turns on itself. It's a fraction of a second and you barely see it, but at night it's pretty annoying. It's a common problem to our screens or it's only me ?

if it's a fraction of a second then just ignore it, it doesn't really matter
you mean something like this?

Nooo, it's nothing like that. It's just a simple, you can barely see it only when your phone is in a dark room. Basically the screen is somehow turning on for a fraction of a second but not full, and then it completly turns on in full light. Isn't much of a problem since you can barely see it, but on the original Galaxy S2 there isn't such a thing.
It's like the borders of the screen are turning on first and then the whole screen. All in about a fraction of a second.

Hi guys.I bought a new phone today - Asus p320.Everything is ok or maybe not...When the screen is off, there is some king of a spot in the middle of the screen which differs from the rest of the screen. The strange thing is that it's only viewable when using luminescence light... It cant be viewed on sunlight or on normal lightbulb. And when the phone is on,there is no sign that there is a problem but it's really freaking me out. So if you can tell me if thats a problem or not,i'd appreciate it very much. Thanks
if its only viewable in luminescent light (i'm assuming you mean black light), then it's probably just normal.
however, please do define luminescent light
well hmm i'm not sure i can define it really.i mean the lightbulbs that emit luminescent light if i can say it that way
do you have a link to a picture of this kind of bulb?
have you checked to see if this issue is common for your device?
how badly does it bother you, because if its only visible in a certain kind of light while the screen is off, it can't be that important.

something like that.
turned on the tablet and the screen appeared red color on the place of black. what can be reason for this? or is there any way to make it as it was before?

Not only is some places red instead of black, a number are also blue instead of white.
Perhaps the GPU/SOC is overheating or going bad? I really doubt a cable to the LCD is put in properly or loose, simply because it would be a consistent color (either red/blue/green) that would be off. Try playing an intensive game and seeing what happens. I'd be willing to bet it will either crash or something similar. Probably time to do an RMA.....

reset to factory settings, and after some time turned it on. everything was ok.
that often happens on computors anyways when you overclock the gpu/cpu too much so maby if you keep the voltages low it wont happen again

Boot on recovery (CWM) hold Power + Volume(-)... etc. And do a "factory reset/wipe".
But if the problem comes from an OC heat, I think you will have to install also a rom/kernel without OC. Then wait some hours to start it up.
hope it helps.
I have taken screenshots during the occurances, and after, but they look the same after I restart, so that is why I wont post pics.
What happens is, probably 4 times now, is that the screen suddenly changes. The whole screen will look fuzzy, as if the resolution were slightly lowered, and colors will appear to be off. I use the Chrome browser for example, and when it happens the bar on the top turns from the usual grey to almost a peach color. The text is no longer sharp as well. It usually happens while browsing, but once happened while looking at photographs.
A simple reboot fixes the error, but it is inconvenient and strange.
Has anyone else seen this?
Any ideas as to why it is happening?
There is an option to change to negative colours. Maybe you're selecting it by mistake?
This issue is interesting. For the first time today I noticed some blurring. After a restart it corrected. Its certainly worth keeping an eye on. It could be a certain app messing with the tab.

Thanks but no, I'm pretty good with gadgets and I am definitely not accidentally switching to negative, that would turn everything black, and would not make anything blurry or pixelated.

It is subtle. The first time I noticed it, I wondered if it had ever happened before and I missed it. It's only obvious when I'm carefully reading text in the browser, but it is definitely there.
I would say return it if it continues. There are bound to be lemons here and there. I haven't noticed this with mine though, but I have blacktie from BB if it does. I'm not even worried if it tumbles or something stops working.
I would return it. It sounds like it could be a hardware issue to me...
First of all I am not talking about Notification light.
A Red light in proximity sensor next to sony logo is always on when device is connected to wifi, or when connected to mobile data only whrn the arrow indicators appears.
This red light is on even if i disable adaptive brightness.
I am shocked why no one raised this quesrion.
Hence here I am.
I hope this is not intentional by Sony.
Coz ffs i cant get one thing to my mind that how it is helpful. It is rather annoying.
Anyone with a clue pls share.

It's on on my phone as well. It was also like that on my Xperia X
I call it the "I'm watching you." light. I think its the proximity sensor's lazer. I dont think it should be on 24/7, but then there is this "Led light's lifetime depends on how many times they are turned on/off" thing. May be it is some kind of an optimisation?

It definitely has to do with data recieving signals.
But whatever it is for I am concerned about battery life
It is just plain stupid of sony to not recognize this.
Coming from z5 I thought speakers were average on z5, but I doubt XZ even have any speakers at all.
Sound is that bad on XZ. I can barely listen to ringtone and I was sitting right next to the phone. What if we are in the other room or @ some distance? We' ll definitely miss the call.
Disable adaptive brightness and the flickery red dot will go off. I can only see it in a darkened room so it doesn't bother me. I'm looking at the screen lol!

If urs doesnt work that way then go send the phone to waranty... I wouldnt investigate anyomre just go to Sony.

Until yesterday it used to be always on, but now only on the lockscreen. It stays off when I unlock the device.
Why can't we seen to find the real use of that light?
Is it even a feature?

Well now I get it, atleast I think so.
Red light stays on if we turn on adaptive brightness.
It also turns on when data packets are being sent to our device (via wifi or mobile data)
But why? That is the main question here.
Previous devices never had this feature, and what diff does this make?
Looks like my adaptive brightness works fine.
Do you mean the light in the attachment?
It should be the infra-red light used by the proximity sensor anmd it is not meant to be seen by human. I can only take this from the camera of another device but I cannot actually see it.
Trust me, if you tries to use the camera of another device to view it, you will see it blinks a lot when the screen is on.

That is exactly what I am talkin about.
It is not supposed to be visible for naked eye until you use a camera.
This one just stays on. Doesn't blink.

OK so looks like im having a camera in my eyes LOL cuz i can see that red dot light constantly turned on...ill see what Sony will say about that.im gonna call waranty just for curiosity.maybe they know something
There may be some variation of the wavelength produced by that LED from device to device, while I cannot see it in my XZ, I can saw it in my last LG device. It won't cause any battery draining problem because either you see it or not, it is still blinking.
My God
This is not a problem
By using this proximity sensor our phone controls the automatic brightness setting.
which is called Adaptive Brightness

hey buddy we all know that but we just want to clarify why some ppl can see the light and some not.... read next time
Xperia X and XZs does this and its annoying, Sony obviously did a bad job in defining what's visible to humans.
Didn't see this posted here yet, but forgive me if I missed it.
Trying to find out if anyone has seen or heard of any acknowledgement from Google regarding this. My new Pixel 3 (Verizon; non XL) since day 1 has had an annoying issue with the screen flashing when ambient screen engages. I have my settings with alwayson set to off, and new notifications set to on. If the screen is asleep and I get a text or any notification, the ambient screen wakes and will initially make the entire screen flash white very quickly.
I do not get a flash of the screen in any other scenario when the phones on, it only seems to be when the screens totally asleep and the ambient screen wakes. I can unlock the phone or hit the power button to fully wake the phone to my home screen with no flashing. Its not every single time, but its very often. I do notice sometimes when it doesn't flash the whole screen, the time or text on the ambient display will be at full brightness when it first wakes for a split second and then will go to the dim text Im used to seeing.
Replaced the phone through Verizon. Got another brand new one with the same exact problem. This one even flashes on reboot occasionally just before the white "Google" screen pops up. Google had me send them a bug report this time and are supposed to be having their dev team look at it.
WHY.
Mine did it once
Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
I've also now noticed mine will flash in Instagram when I "like" something lol. Just the picture flashes within the app itself in that case, not the whole screen. Such a weird thing, that may have something to do with the app on the new pixel? I don't even know anymore.
I just saw the white flash. It was only for a few ms but it looked like a full brightness white flash on the whole screen. I had just set my phone down and I think the AOD was coming on.
Weird.
Yeah I have a feeling this is happening on way more devices than we're reading about. I hope it's addressed. Sometimes my notification audio cuts out real quick too. Hoping it's just all memory related.
I have this weird kind of screen flickering on my device as soon as I use the fingerprint area to turn the phone on. It is very faint and fast but its like static lines for half a second when the screen comes on??

Strange, I haven't had any issues like that using the fingerprint reader or just hitting the power button. Mine are all directly related to ambient screen waking.
My Pixel 3 is doing the same thing when I unlock it. Flashes like taking a selfie... I have even looked for the selfie to no avail.
It does not do this regularly, very random.

Report it to Google. I feel like it's something they're aware of (I hope) but support certainly isn't saying so if they are.
I saw a post on Android Police about bug trackers and read in some of the comments that people were having problem with screen flashing. Some of them said it was related to the always on display. Mine was flashing like white static lines. But it was only for half a second when you turn on the screen and it didnt happen every time, it was random. I turned off the AOD and it never happened again. Kinda sucks cause I like AOD. But that tells me it is a software problems and not hardware.
I turned off AOD too, for 1 day; the next day I turned AOD back on. I have not had a screen flash since (a few days now).

Try rebooting. I bet it's still happening you just may not be noticing. I've had my AOD off for a while and as soon as I turn the new notifications option it comes back. Not every time but still often.
I'm having the same issue, doesn't happen all the time but I can reproduce it usually by unlocking the device, locking it then when ambient display comes on, unlock it and the screen flashes/flickers. I've only managed to do it with ambient screen set to always on.
I've RMA'd this morning so I'll report back when the new phone comes.
I hope you RMA's for other reasons too because it is likely that you will get a phone with the same flickering problem. I think it is a software issue esp since it goes away after we turn off AOD.

I just find it strange that people are having the flicker in different scenarios, like mine is only when ambient is set to always on but other people are having the issue when it's set to double tap etc. Anyway I guess I'll see when the new phone comes.

Quick update. My new phone arrived this morning and I've managed to get the screen to flash once so far where as my old one would do it 8 times out of 10. I feel like this is a poor display hardware problem rather than software.
I believe or rather am hoping that because it only happens when you turn on AOD that it is a software issue and not a hardware one. The only way something will be done is enough people complain on a bug tracker.
