when i use the feature, it searches for stuff in newyork city, but im on longisland i have gps set to high, and location reporting on etc any ideas? i forced stopped and cleared data and cashe

For some reason, I can't get my location in Google Maps based on gsm cell id anymore. I get the message "your location is temporarily unavailable" every time.
Some details:
* When I check "use gps", it works fine, giving me an accurate gps-based location as usual.
* It used to work perfectly well; I live in a highly populated area (near Antwerp, Belgium) where cell id location has always functioned since I started using Google Maps Mobile.
Possible causes:
* It stopped working after I returned from a long trip abroad (ok, probably irrelevant, but my first thought was maybe GMM looks for locations in the vicinity of the previous one, which in my case is somewhere in the green hills of France).
* I recently deleted the GMM cache manually (in Application Data/GoogleMaps) because it took up a good 27mb.
* If anyone else has recently had the same experience, it may be a problem with this (beta) service from Google.
I tried uninstalling, along with cache and all user data, then reinstalling. That didn't help. Does anyone know how I can get this function back? Gps is fine when you're outside and have a minute to spare, but I miss the quick-and-dirty cell-based fix...
PS. I searched the forum and didn't come across anyone with this problem.
Very strange issue. D850 with stock 21R and Google Maps will not show any map.
Just gray background and my location identifier. I can go to maps.google.com in browser on phone and it works perfectly but no joy with the app. (Waze shows its maps fine, BTW). I have cleared cache and data, rolled back update and reinstalled, forced stop and disabled and all imaginable combinations of those. I think I just have a bad APK or something. Other Google service work fine and GPS is working (according to Car Home speedo and Waze, etc.) but this damn app is not working. I have googled the question and read through dozens of pages of things that do not apply.
Any ideas?

Unbelievable! After another hour or so of waiting, it actually started showing again.

Recently i have been having a problem with my GPS on my phone I recently moved from Ohio to North Carolina and I have noticed the issue only seems to be when i am connected to my Wifi But i have noticed some apps even when not connected to wifi still report my location as Ohio. My laptop and other devices when connected to wifi report my location correctly. My S7 will Report correctly if i disconnect from wifi but again some apps till will not update it i notice this by searching a store on google chrome in google and notice on the bottom of the page it will show my location as Ohio. or if i go to the Facebook app it and look at my profile in will say under location "Now in Port Clinton, Ohio" my location settings is set to high accuracy if i change it to GPS only it will fix some apps but others still shows my old home location Facebook seems to never change no matter what i do it always thinks i'm in Ohio. Good maps will sometimes show me like I'm at my old apartment in Ohio and i have to turn off the Location settings then turn it back on. I have tried the GPS Test app and cleared the GPS Cache and i have cleared my Google location history. My GPS does function as i can use it to drive but its very annoying as it cause apps that use my location to return bad results . and yes i have tried a factory reset. Please can any one offer any assistants.

Google Maps shows the location I spoofed first then after couple seconds shows my real location. İf I close/open app it happens again. Yandex Map stucks on wrong location permanetly. I searched on the forum and Google before posting this thread and tried all of the solutions recommended. I'm trying to fix this over 2 weeks now.

I deleted app data/cache uninstalled/installed Google Maps
I deleted app data/cache of Google Play
I tried to deleted Google Location History (it was turned of already)
I opened/closed High accuracy/Wifi/Bluetooth Scans
I tried to reset A-GPS data with GPS Status App and GPS Locker
I wiped dalvik/cache on TWRP
I installed lastest Eurom for my phone
+GpsFİx Apps shows
Android GPS Provider - Spoofed Location
Android Network Provider - Spoofed Location
Google Play Services - Real Location
+CIT GPS test (Hardware Test) Passes with Real Location
I feel like I tried evertyhing except factory resetting. Do you have any recommendations?

Actually, the same thing happened to me. Sorry to say, their is no way to fix this , sorry to say u have to format your phone . pls dont waste no more time . hey if your phone is rooted download android backup (root) it will backup every settings and will help u a lot
