[Q] Firmware update is out?

I just received a notification on my phone... a (firmware?) update for the phone from AT&T.
What is this update? I postponed it for now.
What build are you currently on?
Build: GINGERBREAD.UCKJ2
Kernel: 2.6.35.11
Android: 2.3.5
Rooted
Probably UCLA3.
Will it reset my root at all?
No.

I wonder why this section of the forums is full of psychopath , simple question was asked , probably too noob , a simple answer is all that required (and maybe a mod lock shortly after) .... xcrazyds please be crazy somewhere else not here..WOW I miss Nexus S forums friendly section
And to the OP : either you procede with the update or be adviced that the latest firmware is the 2.3.6 UCLA3 version...Read more and avoid asking things asked many times before..

Then go back to nexus s. I don't enjoy a cluttered forum with the same threads posted 5,000 times. I report them and tell the OP not to do this.

Agreed, everyday someone makes a thread about how they got the ICS update and it turns out to be UCLA3. The regulars are getting tired of the forums getting cluttered with trash.

Wait there is something everyone did not ask in their haste that no search was done.
To the OP are you on AT&T? If not that post with the how to get back to gb instructions may not work for you, and it might brick you.
If you are not on att and one of the other leaks please ask this question in the thread you installed the leak from. If you are on AT&T then you should be fine with the link posted in this thread.

Root my Galaxy Nexus

I want to flash my Rogers Galaxy Nexus and I live in Canada.
I want Jelly Bean and right now i'm running 4.0.1.. the catch is that i know NOTHING about rooting/unlocking/flashing.. can someone tell me all the steps directly form the top of what to do?
I've looked at the forums to see what to do but they all say I have to do something before the next step and can never find how to start right from the top.
I clearly don't want to brick my phone lol
Thanks in advance
Sorry can't post the link, I'm too new to this forum...
Try starting in the galaxy nexus development forum stickies, gnex toolkit v7.8 looks promising

Upgrading to ICS

So I have been reading alot of post saying that the OTA is released in Asia. So I have an AT&T A2 from the US that's rooted and has cheesecake installed. Is there anything that I need to do to have a successful update? I'm on 2.3.6 right now and as far as I know I haven't changed any of my system files, other than how I look for updates.
Sent from my MB865 using xda app-developers app
Good sir, there are MANY posts on how to get your A2 on ICS. We officially have three ICS leaks for this phone.
Only ONE of which you can roll back to GB with. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779968
And please, from now on use the search bar and search for your answers before posting a new thread.

Thread Closed
And yet another ICS Thread. I sense the same when JB leaks roll out.
Ok folks, use the search button and you shall be rewarded. I know people can be cautious when jumping to another OS, but there's no need to start new threads for things that have already been covered. Just post your issues in the current threads, and they will get answered.
So, thread closed.

ICS for Galaxy 2

Noticed that ICS is now ready for download for T-Mobile Galaxy 2, praying for a port to galaxy blaze, anyone going to try and port it?? If not, any opinions on best custom rom and tweaks would be welcome!!
Sent from my SGH-T769 using xda app-developers app
LOL, another thread for ICS on the blaze? I believe this has been covered a number of times now.
Correct me if I'm wrong but from what I understand it is possible to port ICS over from another phone however that requires creating a kernel from scratch. Doing so is extremely time-consuming and difficult and there's no point for a dev to work on that when we're slated to get an official release on our phone in the (hopefully) near future.

This type of comment/question doesn't belong here in the "Android Development" section. Please use the General section for this. Also please familiarize yourself with the 'search' feature. As someone else stated there are like half a dozen threads about this already. Also please read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1699450
I would also ask our community to NOT respond to these posts when they are in the wrong section. If someone can't read or help themselves by searching and learning from what is already posted here their question doesn't deserve a response. Not trying to be rude here, but seriously there has been 2 of these kinds of posts in the dev section in the last month.
Then don't be rude.

Very sorry, excited about my new phone, didn't mean to cause issue, thanks for the info
