Well i have 3 other lines on that account, so ill be on contract for a while

Get the nexus 5. Then you don't have to worry about locked bootloaders and you have guaranteed updates. I've chosen not to upgrade and my nexus 5 should be here by the end of the month

Samsung Nexus S @ €280: worth it today?

Today I saw in a local store (in Italy) that tomorrow they'll have a sale on Google/Samsung Nexus S, at €280 (unlocked), it is worth the price or it's already an old device?
Currently I have an HTC HD2 with Android NAND rom, which is working fine for me...
why not get the new Galaxy Nexus instead of the old Nexus S ?

I'm not mcbyte_it, but my guess would be because the Galaxy Nexus will be twice the price?
@mcbyte_it: I'd say go for it. If you're on a limited budget, the Nexus S is a great choice. I wanted one when I was buying a phone about six months ago, but back then it was out of my price range.

Gusar321 answered it: newest euper-hitech phones are always above €500 (iphone 4 unlocked €550, Galaxy S II €599, HTC Evo 3D €599), I got my HD2 used for €350

I'll read reviews about it, as I like the possibility to change firmwares and do more than what it offers by default.....
Yes, I would go for it. ICS is guaranteed for Nexus S.

From S II to Nexus

What do you think ? Is it worth it to sell my S2 and buy a Nexus?
Nah. Wait till something better comes along, like the next nexus

I guess you want the nexus because it has jb right?
The next nexus will be much better, I'm also looking forward to it..
Swyped from my GT-i9100
If it's for JB, Sammy's already stated they're working on it for the S2 and S3. Obviously that could take quite a while knowing their reputation but CM10 will come to save the day. So you're not missing out with the S2. Not to mention the nexus hardware is a teeny bit outdated at the moment, you'll notice it. Personally, Id stick with the S2. It really is the better phone. Hope I helped
the Galaxy note 2 should be out shortly and that phone is going to be a BEAST.
I also have a galaxy s2 that I'm planning on selling but was thinking about keeping as a secondary and just dropping my insurance.
The plus is that you can probably get about $250 for the Galaxy s2 with your accessories if you sell now.

I would only get a nexus if you wanted vanilla android right out the box. Personally, I think the S2 is the better phone. Better processor, camera, and it has an SD card slot.
The one thing I love about the nexus is the notification light being in the same location as the nexus one ..not a big deal but still kinda cool..
If You are Developer - only Nexus

From the introducing of Nexus brand by Google it became the phone of Developer.
I bought one in 2010 and am using it today.
I know that it is too old, but I love it.
My opinion - to get Nexus.
(maybe wait the the next model)
I'm thinking the same. I'm using SGS2 T989 now and really like pure Android OS. I'll wait for the next Google phone. In the meantime, I'll just wait for CM9/10 to be stable enough for my T989
Wait
Probably a good idea to wait for the next Nexus phone, maybe from Motorola this time?
Are you upgrading for the sake of upgrading or do you have a real need? I'm personally going to skip this generation as I see no need for a new phone
Im aggree with ez2.. Galaxy note 2 best!!

Htc one s s3 vs nexus

Hey there,
I got my one s 3 months ago because of it has s4 processor. But same day i got the phone i learnt it has a s3 processor. Then i didnt give the phone back.
Anyway, for a while i am thinking to sell this phone and get a nexus. And i wonder what do you think? (There is no bad performance issues about phone btw. )
Thanks in advance.
Have a nice day.

I wouldn't get a Galaxy Nexus - however I would probably send it to your retailer and ask for an S4, since you bought the phone thinking you would get an S4. Ask for an S4. Or sell your One S, and wait for the next nexus(es)
In my country there is no s4 version so i couldn't do that but i think i will wait until new nexus. Thanks for the comment.

The support to Rom development far surpasses the android for the nexus series. If u are a hacker I rather u Change. Satisfaction obtain thru the nexus community is endless. Source: I'm a nexus s user

I wouldn't send it back. I have used the Nexus for quite a while and selled it a month ago because I wanted the One S. I really don't regrett it. I like the feel, the looks, the size and pretty much everything more then those from the Nexus. Unfortunatly there is no Cyanogenmod/ParanoidAndroid availible for the S3 version. This is the only thing I don't like about this phone. But I hope there will be in the future because more and more S3 devices get selled. Here in Germany you have to be lucky to get the S4 version (in every shop there are only the S3 versions). Maybe I'll sell it in the future and get a Nexus (if I like it), who knows...

Complain to your carrier, say you were expecting an S4 but you got an S3. Push them, and they'll give it. Or get a written confirmation from your carrier, allowing you to replace the phone by sending it to HTC and requesting an S4 processor. Sure, it is a hassle, but if you ask me it's well worth it.
I'm sort of on the same train of thought. I really do like the HTC but the development or lack of development kind of makes me want to sell it and hope that HTC will come out with a Nexus or something of the sort...
If HTC does make a nexus, it will be heavily priced.

[Q] Keep Nexus, upgrade to Nexus 4 or other?

Merry Christmas all!
I currently have the Nexus which I am more then happy with. My contract runs out beginning of January and I don't know what to do...
Keep my nexus and get the phone upgrade and sell it on ebay etc..
Upgrade to the Nexus 4 and sell my nexus.
Upgrade to Galaxy III and sell Nexus.
Any ideas what I should do? I love my Nexus for the pure Google experience, I don't like my partners Galaxy III as it is bloated with loads of Samsung rubbish.
I think it's between keeping my Nexus and getting the Nexus 4. Or try make as much money as I can by getting an upgrade to sell on.

Should upgrade to the GS3 its way better than the nexus 4 cause of expandable storage plus it is more durable than the nexus 4 as well.
Think I will get the Galaxy 3 and have a play with it using a custom rom.
Then sell my least favorite phone.

I second this. And whoever says a GS3 is a superior device to the N4, hasn't enjoyed using an N4. I have a 16GB, and I've barely used 4 GB. If storage is an issue for you, then by all means get a GS3. If not, you won't regret the N4. It is without a doubt, the best device I have ever used...and I've used quite a few, including the GS3.

Personally, I require a lot of space and can't see myself being limited to 16gb of local space.. its just too little
I would say think between Galaxy S III (or wait for next one), or the Nexus 4. It depends on your needs in a phone. Hell even the Note II is great as well, but it all depends on your uses.
I'm keeping my GNex until I see what the Nexus 5 is going to look like. The Nexus 4 just wasn't a compelling enough upgrade.

You need the SG3
Nexus 4 rocks... You won't look back!
Like others have said, if you don't use much storage space, get the Nexus 4. I don't use much storage either, so the Nexus 4 is perfect for me.

Where / How Do You Folks Upgrade?

Currently I'm rolling with AT&T and am starting to get on that new device train, you know, get the new tech (phone or tablet) when it comes out. Thing is, I don't have a ton of disposable income. College is not kind to you. I do however, have an upgrade from AT&T.
Point of this thread is to get some insight from you guys as to how you move up in the phone game. Do you use your upgrades? Where do you go to buy the phone? Do you keep or sell the previous device?
Thanks for the help!!
I TRY to upgrade every 2.5 years max. And I like to keep the phone. But there's not many choices of phones to buy in my country so this slow down the process. Also devices are very expensive here so I need to gather all the money I need before buying one

I wait till i have an upgrade, then use it. I always keep one old device as a backup, and sell any others on Craigslist (to avoid ebay fees)
