[Q] set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed error - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys, I'm getting kind of frustrated with the installation of KitKat KangBang. I'm running on an i9505 with PhilZ Touch 5 with the CWM Base version at v6.0.4.4. Whenever I get to around 50% of the ROM install, I get the "set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed" error. I've tried several different recoveries and I get the same thing every time. What am I doing wrong?
EDIT: I'm dumb. I'm running on M919, not i9505. Lock it up!

RE.
Just update your CWM Recovery.

Galaxy SII Issues with CWM Ultra toxic rom 8.0

Gday. I'm having this issues trying to update to the latest 8.01 version of the ultra toxic rom. I cant post as im below 10 post so this was the only place i could find for some help.
I have rom manager installed. and i also flash clockworkmod recovery then reboot into recovery. For what ever reason it will not work and im at a loss, tried uninstall it and go from there but no go.
Once it reboots it says at the top Android system recovery <3e>.
Down a little it says this.
E:failed to verify whole-file signature.
E:signature verification failed.
Installation aborted.
Basically i have searched the net and cant work it out myself. I've used it before for a backup when going from lightning rom to toxic rom. but I've never used it since.

[Q] Failed to verify whole-file signature. Flash kernel?

I'm new to this so please speak slowly.
I rooted and installed CM10.1 on my son's Galaxy Tab 2 7". We were having an issue and I accidentally updated from 10.1 to a 10.2 nightly. After that I lost Google Play Store. I tried to re-flash the GAPPS (for 10.2) but I get the Failed to verify whole-file signature error.
After some online investigating (remember, I'm a noob, so there is a whole new vocabulary I'm trying to decipher) it sounds like I need to reinstall the kernel?!?!
1. Is this true?
2. Where do I find the kernel for a p3113 tab?
3. Do I flash through Odin or recovery?
Yes, you did help. I was able to get Rom Manager re-installed (don't even know how I lost that) and clockwork mod. Re-installed 10.1 and then I was able to boot to recovery and re-flash the GAPPS. Fantastic! Thanks a lot.

[Q] Need Help Please

Firstly im not new to android and certainly not new to unlocking/rooting/flashing custom ROMs. However, I might as well have been considering the rookie mistakes I made last night. A very good friend of mine has a Moto Razr HD and asked me to get CM11 on there after seeing it on my Nexus 5. No problem. Yeah right.
Heres what has transpired. It is XT925 and I unlocked it via the official Moto Unlock website. No troubles there. Then instead of rooting I flashed TWRP via fastboot. No problem. Boot into recovery, FAILED to make nandroid! I was tired and rushed and just totally skipped it. Such a rookie mistake. Then I attempted to flash CM11. Wiped, install and it fails. Tried sideloading root, and then the ROM still fails. This is the error I keep getting
set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
E: Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/cm-11-20131230-NIGHTLY
Updating partition details.....
Failed
I would quite sincerely appreciate any help that could be had here. I have still working twrp, and I can still see all the data on the sdcard. Oh, and I did try another ROM. Same thing happens

Ok I fixed my own problem. How you ask. I did some reading. Sorry to have cluttered up the forum folks. Just had to install the latest CM instead of TWRP. Fully functional phone again. But better.....

[Q] Symlink (status 7) Can't Install ROM

I'm having issues flashing any rom. I'm on stock rooted, s-off lollipop 5.0.1 and any time I attempt to flash a ROM it gets aborted with a symlink error status 7 message. Any thoughts on what could be causing it? I've tried TWRP and CWM and neither of them work. Thanks
UPDATE: Disregard this thread. I switched back to TWRP and it went fine. No clue what the difference was. Thanks anyways

Problems flashing KatKiss 5.1_030c ROM

I am running an Asus TF101 B90 tablet. I have just rooted and installed KatKiss 4.4.4_036. I am using ClockworkMod v 3.2.0.1 roach2010-tf101-r1 for recovery. This appears to work fine. I have tried the defined step,s both before and after flashing the 4.4.4 ROM, to flash the 5.1 ROM without success. I have tried this with both a full wipe and without. The results are always the same. After it starts the install the system gives me the following error messages:
Set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
E:Error in /sdcard/KatKiss-5.1_030.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted
I have the same issue with KatKiss-5.1_030c.zip. Yesterday was the first time I rooted an android device. Any recommendations on what and how I need to change things so I can move to Lollipop? Thanks.

See the link in the 1st post of the rom installation instructions
Thanks!

Tim,
First of all thanks so much for your work keeping the ASUS TF101 alive and working! It means a great deal. I did flash the TWRP 2.8.1 recovery system. That worked fine. I was then able to flash the KatKiss-5.1_030c ROM. I am now running Lollipop 5.1.1! Two questions. I ran Root Checker Basic. It can no longer validate that I am rooted, though it could when I ran 4.4.4. Is this to be expected or is there something I need to fix? Secondly, Lollipop seems a bit slower than 4.4.4. Is this to be expected or is there something I need to change to up performance? Thanks.
