Factory restoring, need help backing data up - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I'm going to factory restore my phone to see if it will fix my internet connection issues. I do not want to lose everything though. I have made a nandroid backup, used titanium backup, used MyBackup Root for music and pictures, and have my Google account synced. What else do I still need to backup to not lose all my stuff?

Sounds like everything important anyway. Only thing else is to make sure you've backed up important files on /sdcard (internal storage) to an external sdcard.

Transferring data to a new phone?

Currently I have an Evo and love it, but when the day comes that a better phone is released, would it be possible to use nandroid to transfer my data over?
Obviously, I would need to wait for the phone to be rooted and flashing a custom recovery before doing this.

In my opinion the best solution would be to use some backup software like Titanium Backup to save apps data, use SMSBackup+ or something similar to store SMS online. Copying Titanium Backup folder in the new SD you will able to restore apps data while with the other software you will be able to restore sms.

How do I backup my data

Not completely sure how to backup all my data for this phone. I want to do some experimenting, but I need to figure out how to back up first. Any ideas?
I really don't want to buy anything that is not needed. Does LG have its own software for backups similar to BlackBerry? That would be nice and simple.

Check this out. You'll have to root.

titanium backup or my backup pro. though neither backs up the stuff you have on your internal memory like pictures and such.
Best way to backup is to root, flash clockwork recovery, and create a nandroid backup. It creates an exact snapshot of the current state of your system (apps and settings). Copy all your photos videos and music to your computer tho because I'm not sure if it backs those up.

Save Data / backing up?

Okay so i have multiple games or had multiple games that require to be backed up and installed new roms and factory reset etc.. Is there a way to save data such as login information stored for netflex or simple savedata on angry birds or ckzombies? (prefer not to use titanium backup because for some reason it wont find root).

You should be able to do a nandroid backup for this , go to CWM and go to backup and restore , advance , choose how you want to backup and proceed from there (you should be able to backup data only)
I have been using titanium backup so I haven't tried "my backup root" but it would be my next option I think they pretty much do the same thing, I know it at least backs up the data with the apps unlike other "backup apps. Also I wanted to mention if you do just go the nandroid way there's an app called nandroid browser that works good. You can restore individual apps with it instead of having to restore the whole nandroid backup image, it actually opens up the image & you can browse all of the files on it & restore what you want. I haven't tried it on my tablet yet but it ended up working on my phone it just took a while the first time or two when I started it I didn't think it was gonna work but I got patient & realized it worked.
Here are the links if you want to check them out-

Thank you ill give it a try i didnt see any type of nandroid backup in the recovery(unless your talking bout a regular standard backup in recovery? Id like to do a backup to restore all the system apps and data it was before backing up).... Will the backup also backup how my desktop is arrnged i just never grasped what system data collects besides the data from some apps
Edit: recovery didnt give me any type of option to just backup data....

Backup Question?

What is the best program to do a full Android backup, including apps, additional files, Folders, Contacts, etc.... ??
Titanium Backup... requires root access.
Titanium Backup but if you want a complete back even of your firmware then a Nandroid backup using CWM
But Titanium backup doesn't backup folders!

Titanium Backup covers everything you need to restore the device after a factory reset. A factory reset normally does not affect the internal or external sdcard (which you can easily backup yourself).
Titanium Backup can save external app data (unlimited, never or up to a certain amount of memory), configurable in the settings.
But as you backup to the internal or external sd card, TB would backup itself when storing everything blowing up the backup.

[Q] Flashing ROM & Restoring Apps ect

If I flash a ROM and then want to restore all my apps and data, why should I use Titanium?
1. So I see that my google "Backup account" can backup my data and restore apps and there settings and data. So why use Titanium?
2. whats the difference between googles backup and Titanium's?
3. Can I use both together when restoring? I assume google will restore first and then I will restore from Titanium... Is there any reason to restore from google account?
4. And then there's TWRP and its backup: what I understand about this is if I do a backup before I flash Viper Rom then I can flash my backup if I want to return to my old ROM and it will restore the ROM and apps and all data (so I wouldn't need to restore from Titanium and/or google in this scenario?). Is this correct?
Thanks, smoka
the app data that is being talked about is rarely 3rd party app data.

titanium lets you back up apps whenever you please it even lets you keep old copies around if for some reason there is something in an update you don't like.
your assumptions on TWRP are spot on however if you make a backup today and a month down the road you decide to flash back all your apps have data from a month ago and you loose all your new stuff.
Titanium also lets you extract data from a TWRP or CWM backup. at least on an M8 I've only gotten it to work if the backup is on the "internal sd card"
Titanium pro has a lot of additional features scheduled backups. you can sync to a google drive, dropbox, or box account. backing up only data/apps that have changed.

also if you have backups of everything and all you have is a metered net connection you can reinstall the apps without dipping into whatever data pool you have.

ok, so what if I do a Titanium backup and then use TWRP to restore from a backup "a month ago" and then will I still have my most resent Titanium backup to restore or will restoring the TWRP backup erase all my current data (titanium backup) on my phone?
thanks for you response
TWRP will not remove your Titanium backups unless you specifically tell it to wipe your sd card (sdcard2) or your personal data partition(sdcard1) depending on where you have it set to back things up to.

TWRP takes a snapshot of your system in time. I you do a TWRP nandroid, by default it will copy your /boot, /system, /recovery and /data partitions. Think of it like a restore point in Windows Restore - except better
Titanium Backup is more specific (and also or more limited): You use it for your apps and their data.
It becomes useful if you do a clean install as in: wiping your data partition.
Yes, you can also do a partial restore from TWRP and just restore the data partition of any given nandroid after a clean install, but since it's an image of your /data before the wipe it will also restore potential problems. Restoring with TiBu is somewhat "cleaner" since it re-installs your apps from a backup.
I make a nandroid of my system when I want to flash something new - a new rom or new mod - but I want to keep my option to return to my last working setup.
I use TiBu to reinstall my apps after a clean install.
Anyway - you can never have too many backups
