Is it possible to change navbar button colors using a file explorer? I have googled many times but still haven't seen a way.
Thanks

No, as far as I know, it's not possible.
But if it is possible, the location of the navigation bar properties, definitely is in the internal storage.
To reach this, you need root. But I don't see the point of changing navbar colors manual, while having root access.
Because if you have root access on your device, you should install the Xposed Framework and a module called XBlast Tools
With that module you can change the navbar color and more, like application shortcuts on the navbar.
If you don't know what Xposed is, look it up here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
I hope this helps you.

Xblast gives the option to show the navbar, even when it isn't originally on the device.
So this must work.
If this works, please thank the post, it will be my first thanked post

I didn't mention it anywhere except my signature but I'm on gs4 active and we are stuck with stock based 4.2.2 Roms for gs4 or gs4a using safestrap recovery so paranoid is not an option. But its sweet on my note 2.

Changing DPI globally by any means can have adverse effects on your phones stability and on lots of apps, for example, GOggle play may quit working or the phone may not boot.
yeah never done it, ust read someone suggest it to someone else.

Is it just me or when i apply a setting and reboot, it takes FOREVER to boot back in OS. I mean it boot back, then as soon as i see wallpaper, it reboots again, then to hangs on Samsung Logo, then boot and i see wallpaper, then it reboots again, sometimes this could take 10-15 minutes before it finally boots back to OS without rebooting...

All,
I compiled a SystemUI.apk and Android.policy.jar CWM/TWRP Zip Flashable for 80% or 100% Transparent Status Bar.
Two are made from the 2013-11-01 Nightly and 1 is made for the M1 Snapshot so I would flash each on the correct nightly.
Two are made from the M1 Snapshot (2013-11-02) is also below for those that have upgraded to that...
Here is a screenshot of 80% and 100%. The 100% is as expected completely transparent on 3rd Party Launchers!!!! Enjoy!!
Would you mind making them for the snapshot M1 build?
Thanks!

I made that M1 already 100%. Did you want me to make an 80%?? I think I might not make the 80% any longer as it looks better 100%. Let me know which you mean.

Thats because the app has a white bar at the top. if I open different apps it is different color. Like when I open Evernote, it is black, and if I open Dialer, it is Dark Grey. I think the best thing might be to do the 80% version in case you have white Icons like I do. Hopefully, devs will take advantage of this and rewrite their apps to allow for transparent Status Bar.
Just flashed it and wanted to confirm that it works. Thank you for this.

You can try (I wouldn't) but as long as there wasn't any Framework changes in the last couple of nightlies it should be OK. I will make a new version when M2 comes out.
would love this for 11/15 version!

I've no idea to be honest, but I guess the fact that it's been implemented in one rom it's maybe possible for others
