SOLVED ==> BT GPS + 3G on JB - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Hi
I'm successfully using DJL. CM10.2 ROM with an external BT GPS http://m.aliexpress.com/item/534986020.html for navigation (using waze with GPS as mock locations and 3G for the traffic input).
Only problem it only works after BT & 3G set on and device restarted.
If I try after closing 3G / BT it will not work until i restart the device as mentioned.
Any ideas ? It's not a memory issue. Even if i kill all running processes i need to restart to be able to use it again. I also tried to fool it with flight mode but no luck there....
Thanks.

SOLVED : after testing all 4.3 ROMs I can say in confidence that this is a 4.3 android version specific issue. on CM 10.1 (4.2.2) I have absolutely no problem connecting my BT GPS and get instant access, all 4.3 ROMs failed on that. Moreover, I think that currently (Dec.1st2013) 4.3 ROMs are everything but stable. keyboard randomly disappears, launcher crashes all the time and it is plain slow, but I cannot complain : 4.2.2 on this device with a BT GPS is simply perfect. thread can be locked.

OMG Working: Traffic Updates with XDA2i, GPRS and iMate ROM

Guys and Girls,
I have been trying to get my XDA2i and TT5 to work when downloading Traffic Updates via GPRS. Up until today every time I used the GPRS connection to update Traffic it froze!
Well not now!!!
I have just installed the iMate ROM
ROM 1.11.00 WWE
01/27/05
1.03.00
1337.42
1.11.144 WWE
And it works fully!
However! When I initially installed it and TT5 I tried to update traffic without my GPS Bluetooth Reciever paired and established with the XDA2i. The first time I tried to update the Traffic it Froze!!
I then paired my XDA2i with the Tomtom (old) Bluetooth Reciever and ran TT5 (5.0), it found the GPS reciver almost instantly (after approx 5 secs) I tried the Traffic Updates once again. Hey presto it worked, every time I did it it worked. I haven't tried driving anywhere yet though but at least it works at this stage.
I'll keep you all posted.
Thanks
Lee
Works with TT5 (5.10) also.
Still not driven anywhere yet though!
Cheers
Lee
good to see you got it up and running
have you tried phoning while using tt as mine always froze at end of call
and somehow now we need to get it though to o2 that it is their rom that is duff...but how
I haven't tried using the phone yet. To be honest I don't use it as a phone but I will try it anyway for others to reference to.
I have had freezes with this ROM, however; the freezes occur when the TT5 has not connected to the GPS Bluetooth Reciever i.e Reciever in Car and I am playing with the TT5 in my house. It always works if I have BT GPS connected and its up and running then try Updating Traffic works fine.
Also If I connect to GPRS then try to start TT5, it freezes without actually starting TT5. The only way to get GPRS working well for me is to :-
Do:-
1) Start TT5 first with BT GPS Ready to be connected to in range.
2) Once TT5 has a fix on the GPS, update Traffic which automatically conects to GPRS and downlaods updates.
Do not:-
1) Connect to GPRS first then Start TT5 it will freeze!
2) Try to Download Traffic via GPRS without BT GPS Fix it will freeze!
Is this the same for you Andy?
I haven't tried driving anywhere yet!
Cheers
Lee
Just Drove approx 10mile and it worked fine. (No lockups whilst driving at all, YET!)
I have experienced some lockups when trying to downlaod Traffic via GPRS, what I have found is the first time you try and download Traffic Update via GPRS, if it works then it will continue to work until you have exited the tomtom 5 program.
However; sometimes I have experienced the first Traffic Update after TT5 has just started can cause it to Freeze.
It works more than it doesn't! I have also managed to Start TT5 with the GPRS already connected and managed to Download Traffic when TT5 started to work. I have never managed to download traffic when the BT GPS Reciever is not connected.
Its still not guaranteed to work but better than the O2 ROM!
Keeping with it for now until O2 Release an Update, after all it can work! and it just shows its the ROM and not TT5 (it could be both)
Lets hope O2 learn from the iMate ROM and get it better when they finally release a ROM.
By the way, not only can I download Traffic Updates now but I can select a place on the map and download the weather, it seems very fast too.
Cheers
Lee
the only thing i have done is connected to me bt gps and it worked ,only thing is i don't use blue tooth gps in the car i use wired ,but will change now till they sort this mess out
nope doesn't work for me still ,still getting lockups after a while
this is now peeing me off
how can some people have no problems and others just have problem after problem ,this is my 3rd pda and all have had the exact same problem
Hi all

[Q] Upgraded to Froyo - questions & problems

I upgraded my Captivate to Froyo. I have a few issues.
GPS - My GPS worked well after the official fix on 2.1. Now the GPS is crappy once more. Is there a way to fix this?
On occasion the phone turns off for no reason, even with a full battery and just lying around for a couple of hours. Is this a known fixable issue?
Tethering seems to be built in without extra software or rooting. I was able to connect my Windows 7 computer via USB and WiFi. However, the PC says "No connection to the Internet". I noticed that I can't use the Captivate's wifi conenction when it's also a wireless hotspot, but I do have a decent 3G connection. Any ideas?
Thanks much.

Is the version of froyo you're running JI6? I had weird random shutdowns with that version too. I flashed Cog 2.3b6 (based on JJ4), which doesn't have the random shutdown issue, so I imagine it's a bug in the JI6 build.
If you go to settings>wireless>mobile AP, that will actually turn your phone into a mini wifi router that uses your phone's 3g connection for internet access. If you can't get your computer to connect to the internet through your phone, you might want to go over your settings again. I've only tested it once on JI6 and it seemed to work fine.
As for the GPS issue, sorry dude can't help you there. I'm one of the lucky few that has a captivate with a well functioning GPS, stock JF6 through Cog 2.3b6. The only thing I could suggest is to try a different rom :\

Wifi connection not detected

I'm having a problem where SOME of my apps (like Friendcaster, Pulse, and Draw Something) do not detect my WiFi connection, while others work fine. Any ideas on how to fix it? Never had the problem while I was on MIUI before upgrading to ICS or on ICS itself, but I do now that I'm back on the same MIUI build.

Wifi Error

I have just updated my P6210 with jelly bean 4.1.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...lopers.com/showthread.php?t=2278740&nocache=1 with this tutorial but afterward the update that went smoothly i noticed that i couldnt connect to any wifi it seems to be detecting the wifi properly but when i press connect is say connecting and after a while return to its original postion without showing connected . can this be fixed or should i have to degrade to 4.0.4 ??
To anyone with wi fi issues, i highly recommend trying an app called wi fix, which sets your country wifi code.. Should that not work, try a wifi connection manager app in the play store.
Peace.

[Q] Wifi does not communicate after 4.1.2 update

I've seen this across 2 devices now - the moment I update to 4.1.2, the wifi stops working.
- It sees networks fine
- It connects to networks fine
- It stays connected fine
- It does not transmit data over the networks.
The arrow icons flash as if it were doing something, but it's not actually displaying any results - apps do not update, browsers do not work, anything that needs the internet to function does not function.
Is anyone else seeing this? Android 4.04 works great, and I've not had any problems with it. It's good that 4.1.2 is an optional update.
