Hello all,
Does anyone know if you root your phone, or install a custom kernel, if it will affect Nexus updates in any way?
cheers!
Rooting no, custom kernel yes

root alone, no.
if you add a custom kernel, the updates will download but fail.
Thanks for the quick reply gents!
Will root get lost if the firmware gets updated?
Also is there a stock kernel flashable zip anywhere?

Hi,
I'm using only stock rom, rooted and with xposed mods on my Nexus devices. Because of trying some things out, I want to have a stock rom update.zip from the latest Factory Image on my device to have the security to flash it back to stock without a computer.
So, I've managed with some help this update.zip. It's absolutely pure stock. Not rooted, not deodexed or anything else (to root, there is a link below)
I think, some of you are thinking the same and so I want to share this update zip. I hope you have fun with it.
It works with CWM and TWRP Recovery!

Hi, i understand. Razor or flo?
vía n7II r-paco
Is this flo?
Razor is the codename and flo the productname of Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi model.
So it's both. Razor and flo ?

Nope, just the ROM itself, meaning no stock recovery or anything else you'd get by flashing the stock image

I need the stock build.prop for the nexus 5 to update to 4.4.3 as an xposed package edited it without a backup. I tried to use the build.prop.p in the Ota . zip but it didn't work. Thanks in advance
I updated to 4.4.3 with a modified build prop with no problems

build.prop.p is a patch - i.e. not a full build prop
Use Wugfresh's Nexus Root Toolkit:

Just to confirm, you want the latest stock 4.4.3 correct? But you will want root once updated? If yes, why not download a pre-rooted rom.zip that can be flashed via recovery instead of OTA?
I was trying to flash the Ota. Zip in recovery so I didn't lose my data and apps etc. I didn't know that rooted stock zips existed. Can you post a link.
Nexus 5 Android development forum. It's on the First page. Near the top

I have a confusion after going through various threads.
I have an unlocked bootloader and the device is running Lollipop and I would like to root it.
Should I use Nexus Root Toolkit or CF-Auto-Root.
I'm confused because somewhere I read that I need a custom Kernel, but I have stock Kernel.
I would no want to change my kernel as it will stop further OTA Updates which Google Rolls-Out, according to me. Please correct me on this too if I'm wrong.
I really need help. Thanks in advance
starting from stable supersu 2.35 modified kernel is NOT required.
stay away from auto tool
Flash latest SuperSU in recovery. Stock or custom doesn't matter.

Yes you will get a bootloop if you don't reflash system partition aswell.
Edit1: You already have the stock boot in the factory zip.
