[Q] No MMS_APN in kitkat. Can't get MMS - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm signed-up with NET10 wireless. Their APN settings website does not have setup instructions for kitkat yet. So I'm going by the instructions they have for 4.1. The instructions ask to enter a value for MMS_APN. but there is no field in APN Settings for that. Any ideas?

verizon gs3 ISC operating system cant change apn

I am new to this and i have successfully rooted and unlocked my phone because i waned to put it on straight talk...and after all that i found out all i had to do was download and app and change the network settings. The phone can make calls and text however i dont have data. There is nonthing listed in my apn settings. Straight talk gave me the information that im suppose to enter in the setting but ice cream sandwhich doesnt allow you to change apn. So my question is what can i do? Could i change the rom to one that would allow me to alter the apn? I was told i would have to downgrade systems...that ICS and up. Would not allow changes to apn.
P.s. could you post links to how to install rom and what rom would allow apn access.
Im trying to research but havent really found a direct answer to my questiion.

Trying to add/edit APN settings on my USC S6

I got an S6 from US Cellular back in August. I moved out of their service area shortly after that. I was told by US Cellular that my device was unlocked and I could switch carriers. I took it to ATT the other day and they put a SIM card in it. I was able to make/receive calls and send/receive texts. However, I was not able to access the internet over 3G or 4G.
After about an hour on the phone with tech support, the ATT associate said it came down to not being able to access the APN settings. I did some reading and saw that there were apps that would create a shortcut to my APN settings. I dl'ed, installed, and opened the app (Change Apn). All I see is "Unable to view the access point name settings. Access is restricted for the current user profile." I have an option to add my own APN settings but it appears to do nothing.
I rooted my phone just now using http: //galaxys6root.highonandroid. com/galaxy-s6-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s6s6-edge-on-android-5-1-1/ because I read that it would open up all of the settings. I followed all the steps just as they are written. I downloaded Root Checker Basic and it tells me that I am fully rooted. However, I still cannot access my APN settings.
Does anyone know of any way to access my APN settings? Is there a way to remove all restrictions on my phone?
I also tried http: //theunlockr. com/2013/07/19/how-to-delete-locked-apns-on-your-android-device/ to alter APN settings and this didn't work either.
Have you tried this:
Settings > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > Then add your AT&T APN. Then after choose the AT&T APN, no need to delete the current settings.
Well, yes, that's why I dl'ed Change Apn. Because there is no "Access Point Names" under "Mobile Networks" or any other menu. Otherwise, I would have had this figured out in five minutes. Once I dl'ed Change Apn, all I see is "Unable to view the access point names setting..."

I would go to sammobile, go on firmware and download the Stock Firmware for your device. Check what device you have (e.g. G920F or G920I). Flash it through Odin.
You need to do this because you probably have branded firmware, some operators like to lock out some features so try to download a non-branded firmware for your device.
Or, since you have rooted, you might as well take the next step and install an Custom ROM, then it should work and the APN Settings should be there.

Do you know of any good guides for using either option?

For Flashing a new firmware (you will need to re-root): Use this guide: http://www.youmobile.org/blogs/entr...-to-your-Samsung-Device-Using-ODIN-3-Tutorial
It is the easiest and best guide to flash using ODIN.

LS996 ZV9 Rooted. Now, how do I unlock GSM?

Just got my LS996 back from LG after a warranty service.
As it turned out, there was a hardware problem.
The phone came back in a good shape but it came back with ZV9, GSM locked, and unrooted.
I rooted the phone without any problem and I have read all the related thread on GSM unlocking but I am confused as to what works and what steps are required unlock.
Can anyone provide a definitive guild as to how to GSM unlock a rooted ZV9?
TIA

Here is the rooting guide.

Same method since ZV5...
Its a standard procedure for all Sprint Gsm LGs.
Depends on where you are or which carrier you will use on GSM...
Got it working for T-Mobile in U.S.
Carrier name shows up as T-Mobile.
GSM is unlocked with voice and messages working fine.
LTE is running on band 4. Band 12 is enabled but don't know if it is functional.
The menu for HOTSPOT shows up but it is blocked and can not be turned on.
The only way I've found to bypass this block is to use the app call "HOTSPOT CONTROL" from the Play store. It's free.
Use the following steps to unlock a rooted phone. Then install 'Hotspot Control' for tethering.
1) use this guide to download and substitute two /carrier/app files.
2) edit /system/build.prop files to change over to TMO in two places.
ro.carrier=TMO
ro.build.target_operator=TMO
3) download "Shortcut Master" app from the Play store and searched for "com.lge.sprinthiddenmenu.iot.ltedataroam'. Run that app and enabled bands 2, 4, and 12 to cover the T-Mobile LTE bands. Also enabled data Roaming.
4)Set APN as follows;
Name: T-Mobile US LTE
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy: <Not set>
Port: <Not set>
Username: <Not set>
Password: <Not set>
Server: <Not set>
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS proxy: <Not set>
MMS port: <Not set>
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication type: <Not set>
APN type: <Not set> OR Internet+MMS
APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
Enable/disable APN: <greyed out unless there are multiple APN's>
Bearer: Unspecified

The steps were gathered from searching threads in this forum. Hopefully, it will help someone from having to read through mix of conflicting threads to filter out the info.
Below are the sources of where I found the info.
Step 1 already has a link to the thread.
Step 2 is from the same thread as the step 1 but on the second page.
Step 3 is from a post I made about two weeks ago.
Step 4 is from T-Mobile support page. If one does not want to edit the APN, a default APN xml list can be substituted.

What does this file do? Any instructions?
How safe is it?
There were no instruction. But this should unlock phone even for US. As it is US seller. Who is from US can try.

How did you root it? I followed the guide by Max Lee, but it didn't work (could follow all steps, but Su doesn't install even though I get 'done' message). Searching a lot, I got the impression Sprint G Flex 2 zv9 can't be rooted. It's possible?
Here is the rooting guide.

Thanks! I think I got mine rooted! Now just unlocking...
I don't see /carrier/apps folder in my phone. I tried searching using the term 'carrier', 'node.db', etc., but they give nothing. Could someone help? My phone is rooted LS996 zv9. Oh, and I'm hoping to use it through Ringplus, if that matters.
No

Rooting ZV9 is exactly same as any other Sprint versions. Just use the ZV9 rooted image.

everytime i di this step from shortcut master com.lge.sprinthiddenmenu.iot.ltedataroam it starts then closes any ideas?
Works for zvb
although trying to open the com.lge.sprinthiddenmenu.iot.ltedataroam setting from the shortcut master app forced closed, so i got to it by opening com.lge.sprinthiddenmenu.iot.IotHiddenMenuMain then LTE setting then LTE data roam config to enable the bands.

Delete locked AT&T APN

I've got a new AT&T A9 on firmware 1.10.502.3. I unlocked, rooted & S-Off with jcase's tutorial here on XDA. I'm using Straight Talk and can't send MMS messages. SMS send & receive work fine, and so did MMS for a day. Now I can't send MMS messages.
I had this problem before on my LG G3 Lollipop (same carrier) and the fix was to delete the existing locked "AT&T nextgenphone" APN. Worked perfectly.
Now, I'm unable to do this because I am unable to get "APN Backup & Restore" set as a system app so that it make the appropriate changes. Does anyone have any ideas? Or know of another way to delete the APN?
