Hi,
Did u feel in your's phone that the power buttom working twice in one click??
Its make me crazy !!!
I checked in "key test" and when i click on the power buttom it's send dubble command
What can i do?
I have this problem as well. The best solution I've found is using CM7 -- there's an option to wake the device with the volume rocker, and it works much easier.
Good luck.
just started noticing this issue on my phone recently - extremely annoying. i wonder if it's the button going bad or if it's the switch itself going bad and getting caught in some kind of weird angle upon release?
HTC said that it is a hardware issue, and why do we need more threads like this? I am sure there have been at least 2.
Hi everyone, just registered here as am having a few pretty big annoyances with my Sensation.
Just wanted to chip in with my experiences of back-button issues; I've already had to send one Sensation back because the button's microswitch went faulty (was stuck on) and it looks like this is a weak link with this hardware.
Has anyone else had the power switch fail on them completely?

Hey you all! The last couple weeks i had an issue with a couple Infuse mobos i have in here. Did everything i can on hand to try to repair the infamous reboot loop on my Infuse but had no success. The thing is that i even applied UnbrickableMod to one of them thinking that may solve it and had no luck. If you try the JIG it will get into download mode but it will reboot again.
Guess what???? I found the trick, the issue is something very common on the Samsung Galaxy Captivate, the Power Button! Yeah! Just like that, what i did was that i took one of the 2 motherboards i had with that same issue and removed one of the volume buttons in it, and replaced the Power Button on the other non working motherboard, It was my only hope. And it worked!!!!!!!!!! . So i think i will help a bunch of people in here because ive read many people trying to solve this exact same issue.
So if someone knows where they sell those power buttons i will be very happy because so far i had no luck on Ebay or any other place where they sell those buttons. There you have the solution for your problem, if you can find a place to send it to be replaced do so. I have the tools and the skill set to do it on mines so i just need somewhere to buy the Button. If someone knows please post it in here so i can order it........

Is it just that the button is stuck down? If that's the case then you could probably take the phone apart and just clean that button (space around it) so that it no longer gets stuck...never taken an infuse apart so I have no idea if that would work...but I did take my vivid apart today and changed the color of the capacitive buttons cause there was nothing for me to flash and I was going through withdrawals lol
I'll keep a look out for those kind of spare parts tho and ill let you know if I find any

Well M8, that could be a good idea. The problem is that at least on my phone the button felt just fine. Like i said, i did that as the very last option, but it worked. So it means that the power button someway, somehow is givin up. Maybe its a good idea to clean it. But for the moment im looking for those power buttons so i can replace the ones on the mobo i took the one i used. And now i need 2 of them at least(the volume button and the power button).
Just a thought, if you guys have a JIG, an easier solution can be applied, you can just desolder the power button out. And from there on, anytime you need to power on the phone you just have to insert the jig for a second and the phone will power on like that. Thats of course way better than having the phone acting like its bricked.... Just be careful when desoldering that you dont mess with the soldering points in case you find a button to replace it.
EDIT: The battery should be inside the phone when doing so, its not like when youre trying to get the phone on download mode!
Here ya go...

Hey man- Just wanted to give you this link on a place I found to buy the buttons- kinda at a steep price but hey. I have a question though. soon as I disconnected the power button on mine it stopped the loop and started acting normal (as normal as it can with no power button). So I made an attempt to solder on the new one. Guess what- I think i did something wrong or am a beginner at soldering because I still cant get it to turn on. Can you give me a quick go around on soldering one of these power buttons or is you maybe have a youtube tutorial?
Thank you!

i don't know what is the problem, is it hardware or software problem?!
Hello, today my phone keeps rebooting for no reason. It just reboots immediately after the Google logo shows up or during the flying balls animation. Once in a while it will be able to start, but then back to reboot loop very soon. I can't even use the "Volume down + Power" screen (sorry I forgot what it's called) because the phone will restart immediately.
I didn't install any new app today. My phone is unrooted and is on Lollipop 5.0.1. Bought it used last week after I hardbricked my Moto G.
Please tell me this is fixable. My Moto G is still lying in front of me. The Nexus better not join its brother.
I got the same problem here, all of a sudden it turned off and began this incredibly fast boot loop, I can't enter recovery mode because the fastboot screen goes off as soon as it appears. I'll try to figure something out and come back here. Thanks
I recently installed Lollipop 5.0.1 so it might be something with it too
Thanks. Please tell me as soon as you find the problem. I hope it's just a software (particularly Lollipop) problem and is fixable. It's incredibly frustrating to see 2 phones go down in a 2-week span. **** my life.
ok, so my phone turned on and I actually was able to use it for a while, until I slightly touched the power button (but didn't actually click or even apply force on it) and then the problem occured. So it's either that the power button became overly sensitive or a sensor malfunctioned (I'm a noob so forgive me if I sounded silly).

So, I was looking for answers and figured out it was a hardware problem, the internal power button was stuck. I saw some tutorials on how to disassembly the phone and managed to loose the button up a bit and now it's working fine. Sending it from the phone right now hahah
PS. I'm not a phone master or something, I saw the tutorial and got the motherboard out to fix the button, the worst part was unscrewing those tiny little screws, but it was kinda easy at the end.

That's good news. I don't have the tools to open the phone so I'll have to go to the repair shop next week. Please inform me if the problem somehow returns to you.
P.S: I'm actually gaming on it right now without problem, just gotta be careful not to touch the power button
Hello,
I have a Nexus 5 with Android 4.4.4 and CyanogenMod 11. Like always, it had been working really find untill today, when it started to reboot and entered in a loop. I found out that it was because the power button was broken and with the lightest touch, it would activate.
Searching through the Internet I found out that many people happen to have this problem. I tried to disable the power button editing a file that is found under /system/usr/keylayout/qpnp_pon.kl, where I had to simply comment the line where the power button was.
Now, if I click the power button it doesn't happen anything, like I was expecting, but after 30 seconds of clicking it, it shuts down and it reboots like if it was an internal error or someting similar that caused that reboot.
Is it possible that disabling it the way I did could cause any type of problem that made it reboot after touching it?
I know it's an internal problem or something like this because when I touch it, it doesn't lock the screen or show the power menu, so the button itself is kind of "disabled", but it keeps causing this problem.
Is it good what I did? How can I solve it?
Thanks!

I had the same issue unfortunately. My N5 is still at LG for repair and it's taking much longer than they told me. Which is good of course. Like most smartphones now though, a 10 second power button hold will forcefully reboot the phone. It's hardcoded in the phone and no matter how much you try to disable it through the OS it won't make a difference until the rogue button is physically taken off the motherboard. If you're in Europe though and your phone is still in it's 2 year warranty I would strongly suggest flashing a factory image, relocking and calling LG (or Google, if the device came from Google).
Hope this helps.

Well... It's been like three years since I bought it, so I guess the warranty is over...
And if I want to disable it, I will have to do it manually and disconnecting it of the motherboard, am I wrong? I guess I'll either have to live with this problem or buy a new phone... Today it's not my lucky day! Hahahaha
Anyway, thanks for your reply!!
Many owners have the power button issue. A competent cell repair shop should be able to replace it.

Yes, that's true, I've found a lot of people over the Internet with the same problem.
By the way, I could finally solve my problem; after searching for a while, I found a YouTube video that showed a peculiar way of solving it... And it actually worked!
Well, it looks like I cannot put the link because I'm under 10 posts :cyclops:
Well, here's the video code if anyone is interested: _QpSSCifxAw
The Internet is amazing! Hahahahahahah
Thanks for your replies!
Are you referring to banging the power button? It wouldn't work for my friend's power button. He had to have it replaced because it failed a multimeter test, apparently.

Yep, exactly!
Like the video said, I bumped my phone a little bit because the power button was kinda stuck inside the phone, and that really worked...
I was amazed! And I'm so happy it worked! No need of having it replaced. [emoji16]

Just hit the phone into your hand so the power button gets unstuck.
You can see the video I mentioned above for a clarifying idea on how to do it.

Hello everyone,
i got a strange "bug", i don't use my phone 3 hours and when i press the power button nothing appends... I plug it in the charger and the charging led don't switch on... To restart the phone i have to plug it in and press the volume down and power button for a while.
When the phone woke up my battery have drop from 70% to 20%.
Did someone got the same bug ? Or it's a material faillure ? (my firmware are .185)
I kind of have the same (similar) issue on CM 13.0., i have submitted it as a bug and so did two more people. The Z5 CM Devs are trying to figure it out so i reckon you might be able to find what you need there. You might not find it straight away because there is no solution yet, but soon.

Right, it's seem to be the same issue on CM13. Realy strange because it is not base on sony firmware.
