How did you remove the soft buttons? Did you do it through a custom ROM, through your own tweaking of AOSP, or through an app?
It would be nice if Ok Google would wake the phone, but that feature still needs a lot of work. I had a Moto X for about 6 weeks, and the "Ok Google Now" to wake it is maybe 20% accurate at best. The commercials lie big time. Maybe they can flesh out the bugs and work on the accuracy on the Moto X/Droid line, then either implement it through an update to the Nexus 5 (very unlikely) or in the next-gen Nexus phone.

I know how to remove the nav bar, I was just curious how you did it. I was thinking that could help isolate your problem in order to work toward a solution. Unfortunately, I'm not really sure how to help with this one.
I was able to remove soft buttons just fine - it worked however Ok Google stopped working. I was wondering if it's software issue or Ok Google will not work without soft buttons.

I have had the payed version of Lock 2.0 since there was an option to buy but since I got my Nexus One it has now become pretty much unusable. The sad part is that it is better than the lock button that is on the top of the phone cause it lets you bring up the lock screen by pressing your track ball. I love all the different back grounds and sounds you can download and how they stay in a folder and not in your app draw (which is really annoying). Now the thing I don't like is that when you press the volume buttons when the phone is locked you can and will turn down or up the volume on accident and this is why this app is now unusable. Can it really be that hard to add an option to disable these buttons? I have emailed Android Apps and they say the reason the volume button does that is for when you are listening to music and thats great but whats the use if when you get a call or text and you can't hear it cause you turned the volume down to 0 on accident. I emailed them today again and asked if they could update their app and I hope they do. The reason I started this thread is so anybody could comment on this problem with I have to say is probably my second favorite app on the market. I will also email them a link to this thread so they can see what everybody thinks. One more thing on another lock app LockBot when you press the volume button the sound does not get turned down but I don't want to really pay for two apps that can do the same thing. Edit: OK they fixed it but their is a new problem with the home button.

What rom are you using?
Cyanogens latest has an option for trackball wake-up (and of course that mod can be applied to other roms as well) if that is indeed the biggest thing about it you like. I personally never saw the need to change my lockscreen from stock, but can understand why some people do.
I am using the stock rom, I didn't want to root this phone since you void your warranty and mine is pretty messed up I should get a replacement this week. Also I am glad Cyanogen added that and that tells you it is a problem in the stock or he wouldn't have had to improve on it. So people like me only have the option of downloading an app to get the same results. Also I have used a rooted phone before, I had been using my Google Ion rooted for about 6 months before I got my Nexus One.
Ok I just got an email from the developer and they have disabled the volume buttons by default on the new version that was fast. Now there is a weird problem where even after you set the Launcher as the default for your home button it still keeps opening Lock 2.0, its really annoying but I already told them so I'm sure they will fix it. Now if only Google would respond like this for their "Support Forums" on fixing the 3G and Touchscreen problems the world would be a better place.
I understand the issue with the volume keys. I don't listen to music so i installed the app (ringer mode locker) by kaa from the market. It overrides the system setting and locks on your choose of settings: vibrate, ringer silent etc. If you volume up or down it stays on you set point. I like if because it is not a background app using extra battery trying to monitor a set point.

Please don't critisize Google like this, 3G issues and Touchscreen problems are not simple applications in which code can be modified to turn off the "Volume" buttons.. I've noticed the employees on their forums try to solve things to the best of their abilities - but Google can not just correct everything as if it takes a small flick of the wrist, or click of a mouse...
Honestly I don't see how they will fix any 3G issue entierly without modifiying the insides of the phone.. guess I dont know enough about phones to make such a conclusion anyways.

I emailed them about this a couple of weeks ago. I told them exactly that and I got a "Steve Jobs-like" response lol..
"Something is wrong with your phone."
I even posted about it a couple of times in the Q&A section but got no responses. I'm glad to see someone on a stock ROM is experiencing the same issue because I thought it was due to using CM. Are you using an auto task-killer?

Get "KeyGuard disabler" from the market. It costs 1.49 but does exactly what you want. I'm sure there are free versions of similar software too but this is only one i've ever tried.

wow dude just tried it! works perfect! thanks man!
Meh....
After installing and trying to use it, I finally gave up. It has the potential to be by far one of the best android apps. The developer has designed programs that mesh with android so natively that I am jealous of his understanding. But even after a few reinstallations, this program never delivered. A replacement lockscreen must be more than just pretty. It wasn't sized right for the Nexus One screen and constantly froze "Updating List", even when I was just trying to unlock. The "Updating List" freeze causes a loop that just recalled the freeze when I hit home. There is no escape short of hitting menu, more, home, then selecting my home screen program. I would consider that a lock screen fail if I have to navigate a menu to select a home screen instead of sliding the sexy little slider over. I hate taking refunds from the market, but Lock 2.0 needs more work. If I see anyone saying it has been adjusted for the N1 screen and the home bug has been fixed, I'll buy it again, but until then, I'll stick with the just weather and toggle widgets.
I hear that Lock 2.0 disables notifications on the Nexus One. Does anybody know of any apps thats just as attractive as Lock 2.0 that doesn't disable notifications or freeze.. etc.. (something iphone-ish i guess)
Any news about the home button bug bypassing the lock screen in Lock 2.0?
As far as a can tell its been working good and the dev added the option to clear the home screen default if it does it again. Its pretty sad that he left it messed up for months until I sent him the link to this thread.

Thanks, but I was referring to another bug (unless I'm totally mistaken):
When you turn on your nexus and you're still on Lock 2.0 lock screen, if you press the home button, it unlocks the phone without having to use the slider.
Hope this was clear...

Why was it removed? Is the feature coming back?
I know you can use 'OK Google' but there are problems with the mic volume, which can be fixed by editing a file, but it isn't a perfect fix. This has been patched in the latest update though, which should be pushed out shortly.
Also, OK Google doesn't seem to be listening everywhere even if it has been set to. I'm hoping they fix this as well.
it didnt work well and they are working on replacing the "hey snapdragon" with "ok oneplus".
Qualcomm was not satisfied with the quality of the pre-recordings that oneplus sent to them.

If you go in to the Google now settings and change the default languae to US you should then be able to activate 'Ok Google' from any screen includong the lock screen and while the device is in standby
I tried to activate this but does not seem to work from the lock screen for the oneplus one. I have 44S update I think but would really love to see this functionality coming back. I was quite impressed with my moto x primarily from this perspective and am looking forward to having this on my oneplusone device.
Any idea when it might come back?
TIA
Hi everyone,
I decided to reflash stock and i'm running into some problems with enabling accessibility services for greenify and pushbullet. Somehow I managed to turn these on, I have then turned pushbullet off with no issues. Trying to re-enable this I get the "Use Pushbullet?" prompt with the cancel and OK buttons. I am unable to click OK... only cancel works.
Does anyone else have this problem? I've reflashed about 3 times now... md5 of image is OK so I just wanted to see if you all can enable and disable accessibility services without any issues.
Thanks

I have this exact same problem with every single app in Accessibility... I threw on Lollipop and have yet to be able to click OK. It doesn't even register as a button. Hopefully someone sees this and has a clue as to what is going on.
I wonder if this is a bug... :S

I doubt it, or at least if it is it's a very small one since I have yet to see anything else about it. You're the first person I've encountered with the same issue, funny how you mention both Greenify and Pushbullet (I have both and I didn't notice the issue until after I tried enabling Greenify)
I can confirm it doesn't work for the Google builtin services either on my phone: Talkback / Switch Access

I've been struggling with this exact issue on both my Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 wifi. Flash to stock, setup my account, start the restore process, apps start installing, I wait until either LastPass or AutoVoice are installed and then I can immediately go in and enable accessibility for it. Anything after than and it can't click on the OK button. My theory is that you get one shot at setting whatever applications. It's definitely a bug that not app or hardware specific.

I found the answer for my specific case. It was Lux that was preventing me from enabling accessibility or installing from unknown sources. Sooo many factory resets and reflashing stock/rooting and it was Lux the whole time. Arggg...

Holy guacamole! It was LUX... I simply uninstalled LUX and I was then able to click OK on Accessibility settings. I'll be sending an email to LUX devs in a few minutes.
Although apparently I could just have disabled it... LOL. Either way the devs have been informed

Wow... Thanks for this! it works now.. damn i wiped my phone 3 times :S. Ah well at least battery life is now rocking!
Thanks for finding the root cause! Seems like we're a bunch of people using the same apps.
GOOD GRIEF! This was so annoying. THANK YOU! This was driving me crazy. I am writing this on Jan 7 2015, I dont think the author knows this is an issue. I will write to him/her. Thanks again. On a Nexus 6 5.0.1
Same problem with app called Twilight. Pausing the app allows OK button to register.
Same thing for "good sleep pro". Highly unexpected. Big thanks!

For me it was "Bluelight Filter". Thanks for setting me in the right direction.
Not a Nexus 5 user but...
I still use a Sprint Galaxy Nexus (toroplus) but, it was Lux for me too. The two reasons I didn't think it could have been Lux are, first, after this same issue came to light with the install button on sideloaded apps, they made Lux auto pause on screens where their overlay could cause issues. Second, it's daytime where I am right now. The screen dimming overlay shouldn't be active during the day. Either way, I think I'll need to poke the Lux devs to inform them that their experimental work around still isn't working in the accessibility menu.
Anyway, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I'll just have to remember to disable Lux when I need to perform protected actions.
Thank you! HTC One M8 user, and killing Lux helped!

Hey everyone, I received my Mate 8 about a week ago but no matter what I try I can't get now on tap working. Every official Google app has permission to do whatever it wants and I have the latest firmware version installed (and yes, now on tap is enabled within the Google app) but I still can't get it working. I've read that other people have the same problem. Has anyone else figured out how to fix this? Thanks in advance

Sorry can you elaborate more? do you mean google now? as I know it's clashing with EMUI of Huawei at the moment unless others can correct me....
Well Google now works in general, "OK Google" speech recognition works fine as does pretty much everything else, the only things that don't work are the home button related gestures (holding home for Now On Tap and swiping up from home to get to your now cards).

I had given up on trying to make all of Androids little features work as they should. Now that I have picked up the Z Flip 3 I have a new found desire to figure out how to use the phone and the features that are giving me issues.
Issue 1 - The screen saver when charging is not working. I've tried my dock, and direct power plug in. No go on any of the screen savers- they simply do not show up. How can I fix or trouble shoot?
2- Please tell me it's possible to re-map the side power button to open the Google assistant. I spend a couple hours on this today and had no success. I tried downloading the assistant app so I could open it, but Samsung has hidden it in the pop up list of apps that can substitute the Bixby option. Same question - how to make it work.
3- I really want nothing to do with the Samsung apps. Is there any way to disable or otherwise get rid of them? Without rooting. Is rooting even possible? I don't really want to start with that again, but will if it comes to it I suppose.
I am trying not to waste days figuring out how to make the phone mine. It seems like everything I want, I can't make happen. So frustrating. Thanks for listening and thanks in advance for any help/guidance/resources etc.
Edited to add - this is a Google FI Samsung phone. I purchased it from Google.

Only disable the apps you can see an icon for in the launcher and those you are absolutely sure accompany them (ie. Stuff plainly named Bixby) and you'll be fine.
Got it! Thank you!! Will update when I've had the time to mess with it.
On another note- I can't for the life of me get the screen saver when charging to work. It's not that I'm dying to use that feature out of necessity, but it's driving me nuts that such a simple task is, simply not working. lol. I need to let it go.
