Hi all,
I've had my RAZR MAXX HD for a week now. Its a used one off ebay which i've had imported to the UK. Now i'm probably worrying over nothing and i really hope i am but this morning i noticed my phone was showing 12% battery level and then an hour later this had mysteriously changed to 32%. I'm worried its somehow incorrectly calibrated and has started eating into the batteries safe level.
I dont know if it has any significance but yesterday i flashed stock 4.1.2 using the droid hd utility - i was at 60% charge when doing this.
I also have a locked bootloader and cant obtain root as i'm on the latest OTA.
Just let it completely die then charge from 0 with it off.

I had the same issue got solved. I backed up my data. I went to recovery mode, wiped battery stats then wipe data and factory reset. This solved the fluctuation problem. CAUTION: If your phone is rooted then factory reset could make your phone like when you purchased, unrooted. You may need to root again.

My Wife's unrooted S2 runing the stock ICS is having issues with battery charge.
She has had it for about 1 month.
The past week she can no longer charge it past 70% (this value is continually dropping). It will go to 100% if the phone is charging while off for 12+hours but then as soon as it turns on the battery drops to 75%.
I have read of pulling the battery for a while, Plug in the phone pop in the battery and power on immediately but this has done nothing.
I have not rooted and tried other roms on her phone yet since we may have to return it.
Any suggestions?
BTW... Sorry for one more battery thread. Just didn't find the solution with my searching.
Bring it in. Maybe a new battery

Replace it under warranty, will be easier than anything else.

That was my thought just wanted to check if there were any other magic tricks out there.
Thanks
So just as an update I tried a few things that did not work. Wiped battery stats. Charged the phone with different chargers. Tried cm10. Got a new battery. Reflashed gingerbread.
The maximum charge varied from 50% to 80%
I wiped the phone and will return it.
I am giving this update since I received a pm from the someone with the same problem

I am stock, rooted and unlocked just before the last minor OTA. My battery has been dying on me a lot recently because it keeps showing that I'm at around 23% when it's low. So I've never received the low battery warning, and after a while it just shuts off and doesn't turn back on... so it obviously drained.
I'm gonna try clearing battery stats in CWM after a full nights charge, but was wondering if anybody has an explanation for this? Or possibly any other solutions other than clearing battery stats.
Again, I'm running Stock ROM, rooted, and unlocked. The last OTA has not been installed and fails when it tries. The only other thing I have flashed is Google Now.
Please help, this glitch is seriously killing my battery because it keeps draining down to 0 before i even know it.
you dont have to wait for a full charge to wipe battery stats...sounds like the battery is going bad imo.
wiping stats didnt do anything... I'm back at being stuck at 23% as i type.
And a battery going bad after 3 months?? My Incredible's battery is still working just fine after 2+ years now.... Is it really possible for a battery to crap out this quick?

Batteries usually last around 1-2 years then they start to degrade.
There will be times where the battery you get will be defective. Just go to the Verizon store and show them. They will be happy to replace it.
ya i would say the battery is going bad too

Ok, I'll try to go into the verizon store some time next week.
I'm gonna take some screen caps of the battery drain to show them. And maybe I'll bring it in when it's at that 23% point...
I Should probably unroot and lock before i bring it in right?

Try wiping the phone and getting that update or wipe and Odin the vrlhe update on. See if this does any thing for you you might end needing a new phone. But it could also just be the battery.
Wow! Same here dude. I've been off TW for a month, with it dying at exactly 23%. Yesterday, it did the same thing on JB TW. 23%.
Michael Jordan pissed at us or something? Using his magical powers to turn our phones off?

I'm running into the exact same issue with my one week old CLN phone and brand new battery. Battery meter will not drop below 23%. If I shut the phone down, remove the battery, and power it back on, it will start resuming normally but the problem happens again once I charge the phone back up.
Has anyone found a solution?
Edit: BTW, I am rooted/unlocked running Beans11 and ktoonz kernel.
Ive recently run into this issue as well, anyone find a solution?
Happened to me once. i switched rom/kernel

This same excate thing happened to me. The cause, I used a hacked battery app. I tried everything to fix it, switched roms, kernels, wiped stats as many different ways as I could, but everytime I would be stuck at 23% till the phone died.
Restored all my apps without the battery montior app, let the phone do its thing, and its been fine.
Remove the app, wipe stats, reboot. Should work.
And I bet your using Battery monitor widget from 3c, aren't you?

Was casually browsing the internet on my phone, and my battery was yellow (around 18% I believe) and it randomly crashed. I plugged it in and it's now charging. I did notice that it stayed on 22% for a while. Probably a lot longer than it should have. My phone is rooted, so I'd rather not factory reset or anything like that. This is the first time I've had this issue.
It's a fairly common bug, I don't think anyone really knows what causes it or how to fix it. Weird though because it hasn't happened to me... yet.

Mine just did that at 19% too. Running newest liquid smooth and ktoonz kernel. I remember it happening a few months back and a few battery calibration apps fixed it. Can't remember which though

Instal App Battery Calibration. Charge it fully then calibrate it.
Don't waste your time with battery calibration apps, that theory was debunked awhile ago...your battery stats are wiped automatically after you charge it past 90%.

Hi All,
I newly purchased Moto g with Android 4.4.2 pre-loaded through flipkart site.
After two weeks, yesterday I charged the phone at 100% battery charge and then used it a while by enabling data and data roaming and disabled those after use.
Then after an hour I noticed the low battery warning with only 1% remaining (screenshots embedded). But the phone did not die even after 8-10 hours. I guess something wrong. Why is this happening? Can this be rectified or do I need to exchange this phone?
NOTE:
I installed couple of apps using APK files from PC transferred via Bluetooth to mobile and then installed them by enabling the option "Unknown sources" under Security category in settings. Is that okay?
Thanks & Regards
Nanda
Sudden battery loss

If that happened taht fast, maybe yes, you could go back to the store you bought or call your carrier to have that fix. Is this rooted or not?

No it's not rooted. I did install certain apps transferred via Bluetooth, by enabling the "Unknown sources" option as told.
I thought of following the traditional battery calibration technique and then will decide. That's like fully discharge the battery once and will re-charge for 4-5 hours continuously.
Motorola have already reported they are aware of this issue and they will release a software update asap. All Moto G models are affected. A custom Rom / GPe Rom will not stop it happening,
Post your experience here:

Maybe some software went wrong.Check the update.
Don't worry its already known issue happening in almost every phone.. No matter rooted or not... If you facing this issue again, just put your phone in charge for few mins.. It will get 100 charged in very few mins.. Motorola is looking in to the issue.. Soon they will release a patch to fix it... It's not related to software or root...

don't worry its just battery calibration issue. use your phone until it goes down to 0 percent(phone should turn off) then charge it upto 100 percent without plugging it out. do this again and your problem is fixed.
A common problem!
Better battery calibration right from the start definitely helps!!
Hi folks,
I've noticed my battery use in the Settings area is wonky. I only noticed this after applying the OTA 3.1.1. This is on my new RMA unit. It happens to be bootloader unlocked and rooted but is otherwise pretty much stock. I've started settling in on it.
This morning I took it out of my computer bag and noticed it was warmer than usual. Went to settings \ battery to see what was draining it. It was down to 20% battery remaining.
The list of things using battery only added up to about 22% even though 80% was used up. The usual things were in there... Cell standby, screen, android OS .... But not anywhere enough to account for the power used.
I charged it up to the point where the light was green and tablet said 100% charged. Then I used it for a while over the lunch hour. I'm down to 90% but the list only has two entries: screen (7%) and android OS (1%). I'm used to seeing a litany of all sort of processes there.
Any idea what's going on?
I would hate to factory reset and start over but I probably should start from a clean slate. I did not wipe between OTA 3.1 and 3.1.1.
Thoughts? TIA
