It's been quite a while now, no updates
EDIT: It seems sony has released a flash tool for xperia phones, with apparently firmware selection on it.DLing now, will give it a try.

It found my tipo but it has a locked bootloader so i couldnt see more settings, will unlock it now.
EDIT: No, it doesn't work with tipo, see here.

EDIT: Vibrator seems to stopped working, vibrate on touch doesn't work anymore, and it doesn't even vibrate in service menu on vibrator.
Also when I lock my screen I can't come out of it again, help?
EDIT#2:It seems the phone stopped working with vibrate/lock as soon as i put the perm root files on it from the miro thread, which apparently works for every phone.I will stay at .16 as I don't need an sms counter.Thanks for your trouble people.

always backup ur contacts to the external sd card...

i download emma flashtool and install me some drivers and it goes ok now
After the official ICS (4.1.B.0.587) update, I searched a lot in XDA forums inorder to root and install CWM Recovery on Xperia Arc. I looked everywhere for a solution but I can't find any threads related to ICS Rom. But somehow, i rooted successfully and installed CWM. So i decided to share it here
Hope you have successfully unlocked the bootloader.

ROOTING
What you have to do is:
1. Extract 'ARC Autoroot v1.zip'.
2. Run the file runme.bat
3. Connect your device to the computer with USB Debugging enabled (Powered On)
4. Wait to enter 'Fastboot mode' (blue light on the notification LED)
5. Press ENTER to root
You have Successfully rooted your device.

CWM RECOVERY
What you have to do is:
1. Install Flashtool on your PC.
2. Open Flashtool.exe
3. Copy 'boot_LT15_431_cwm_v2.img' file to firmware folder.
4. Enter 'FastBoot Mode' by pressing menu key while connecting the USB Cable (In the phone)
5. Click on the Flash tab and select 'Fastboot Mode' (In the Flash Tool Application)
6. Click on "Select Kernel to Flash" by DooMLoRD
7. Then navigate to 'Firmware' folder where the kernel file is kept.
8. Change the file type from "*.sin" to "*.img"
9. Select "boot_LT15_431_cwm_v2.img"
10. Wait for the process to finish.
You have Successfully installed CWM your device.

To enter CWM,
- Reboot your device.
- The blue Notification light will appear after the sony splash screen.
- at that time press the volume down button.
Then you will enter CWM Recovery

Can I still enable usb debugging on a soft bricked Sony Xperia Arc S lt18?
I flashed a new rom without enabling debugging mode. Now my phone starts with the Sony logo then the triangle warning sign with a picture of a phone beside it. After that, it turns off.
(fastboot and flashmode are still available).

I'm flashing a D2203_18.5.C.0.25_ES. ftf firmware via Flashtool version 0.925.0 (old version since the latest one cant detect the any firmware even synced). Now, I've been stuck in Processing of amss_fs_2.sin finished as seen in the log below:

Its taking quite a while now in "Processing of amss_fs_2.sin finished." probably 15mins+ and no more log progress. I've seen "ERROR - root : this bundle is not valid". Where could I have gone wrong? Any solutions Thank you.
Device Info: Xperia E3 D2203 LTE / Previous system before getting bricked: D2203_18.4.C.1.36_CE (4.4.2)
