Phone is rooted via [GUIDE] How To Root The Sprint CDMA Hero (Windows) (won't let me post link, as I'm a new user) -- I tried another method yet it didn't work.
After rooting, I try to load roms via recovery. The install is ALWAYS successful. Then once I reboot, I get HTC screen.. then custom ROM image screen, then it loops the ROM image screen over & over.. never fully booting.
I've wiped the phone clean multiple times (as I did not the first time I tried) and still have the issue. ROMS I've tried: [ROM] DamageControl v 2.05 (has firmware 2.1), [ROM] Fresh Rom 2.0d (has firmware 2.1), and AOSP 2.2.1 (Froyo).
I don't think this is in the right section.... I apologize. :facepalm:
Yea this is the wrong section it goes under Q&A but I am also having this problem.
I just flashed the OCT. 4 Cyanogen nightly and i'll let you know how that works.
Also did this happen after running the RUU for the .7 update?

And if you have a european hero and you flash the roms you listed, it'll be bootloop city sounds like the problem to me
didn't notice the carrier earlier my mistake.

Ok, so you did a full wipe every time? How long have you let it wait? A first boot may take about 15 minutes.
first 2-3 times I did NOT wipe or wait more than 10 minutes.
4-6 times I did wipe, waited over 10 mins.

Ok, what recovery are you using?
I'm honestly not sure. I followed the instructions of another root method here previous to the one I successfully used. how can I start 100% clean? IIRC, the recovery MAY be like 1.6heroc something something..

No problem
So Ive been running Sky Ice Ucle e6 for a few hours. I went to try out a mod and and I downloaded it, put it on my sdcard, and installed the zip thinking that was the correct process. (I dont think it was, in retrospect...) Now, my notification bar is gone.
Any help??
(I tried to install the Circle Sky ICS with crysis....was it incompatible?)

i had this issue on the sky ics rom. it happened when i flashed the wrong radio. to fix the issue i did a clean wipe and rein-stalled the base rom then the radio again (UCLE2) and let it all boot up and settle, then i flashed the update and my notification bar was back. if worst comes to worst and you cant get it back by flashing the odin 1 click and then restart installing all roms again and it will come back.

lol yea man, i dread doing complete wipes but as long as you back everything up with titanium backup it makes restoring all your apps and putting them where you want them a little less of a *****. let me know how the reflash goes.

Finished flashing the base, I'm about to flash the update. Smooth sailing so far....
Once I flash the update, all I have to do to install the mods is to install the zip from the sd card, right??

Yes sir, i usually flash the update, boot up and let it sit for like 5 mins so everything settles then reboot into recovery and install all my mods

I run the supercharger to. I make mine run even smoother by running Titanium back up and freeze all the stupid **** apps i dont use like memo and notepad and things of that sort. My high score on the antutu benchmark app was like 6606. Not mind blowing but a pretty good score. i got my skyrocket running absolutely optimal and loving every second of it

Sounds like a good idea, I don't really use many of the preinstalled apps. I'll have to run the antutu and see where it places

But....but....I need to be validated!
I did the same thing yesterday and lost my notification bar at the top. I had to wipe and flash from scratch to resolve.
So now that we are unlocked with a working recovery, when do you think the first custom Rom will hit the forums??? Tonight???

Oh, my bad. I didn't even look at it. My initial question was sincere by the way. I honestly didn't know.
i dont fault paul at all.....he was running blind when he built it. now he has unlock, maybe we can get a proper CWM.
i completely borked by cm build environment a while ago....now i have to resync everything

So im trying to flash a custom rom.. and im at the part where im in clockworkmod and trying wipe everything and stuff and every time i click on wipe data/factory reset all the options are no theres not a yes anywhere. so whats wrong? im trying to flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605105 and i used this guide to put cwm on my phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566613 my phone isint stock i used odin oneclick to flash the second ics leak no rom and also are there any better roms?

nope shouldnt be any problems if your already on an ics leak and you follow all the directions. may i also recommend either cm9 or aokp they are both very stable and suitable as daily drivers, i've been switching between the two since they released as my dd, but if you want tw and something more official then go with nexusmod

Just a quick question : why is the transfert rate through USB so slow in CM10 (1MB/Sec) ? On stock ROM it's like 7-10 MB/sec.

Hi all. I have same issue (transfer rate is very poor and stops for 5-20sec every 10-20mb). Does anybody know how to resolve it?
Works fine for me at roughly 10MB/sec. and 3-5MB/sec through ADB.
did u flash boot.img via fastbot?
Of course, Im on hboot 1.14, dont have much choice... Well, theres that app but.. dont like it..

hmm. i'm on hboot 1.06 i just flash cm10 via twrp. anything works great, but usb mass stor mode. do i use stock kernel?

I prefer cmd.. Dunno why, probably because Ive spent hours messing with adb while coding quick adb pusher.
I just end up going into recovery when I'm transferring stuff, its sooo much faster its insane

Yep AOSP sucks at sd speeds.
I had an issue with this too. It seemed when transferring from the device to the computer transfer rates were fine just when going from the computer back to the device...

I have this same issue. I think it might have something to do with the driver w7 is using. Write caching cant be turned off. When in twrp it is another driver that has no write caching.
