[Q] How to Resize Internal Partitions? - HTC Sensation

Hi,
Lastly i've installed a lot of apps and the space left on /data is almost gone (just 130mb) and Google Play don't want me to install any apps that overcome 30mb..
I found it curious that with 130mb space left i couldn't install apps, but what makes me really curious is the fact that /system and other useless partition, which i believe they're on the NAND (internal memory) are almost completly free, which means i'm wasting space for nothing..
A screen:

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
As you can see, there's so much space wasted..
How can i resize internal partition so i can assign those 300-400mb of wasted space to /data?

No one?

I not expert but I ve understand that the partition size are decide by rom during installation process and can not resized.

I believe the partition sizes are hardcoded and would require S-OFF & knowledge on how resize the partitions.

Thanks for the answer.. But, how come no one here has ever tried to resize partitions? I mean, look at how much free wasted space there are D:
Also, hardcoded where? Bootloader?

Only one genius is able to resize internal partitions due to the myriad of partitions on the sensation. You'll have to ask this guy: http://thalamus-hacking.blogspot.co.uk/
Edit: Turns out he retired from Devving due to trolls and kangers judging from his blog so we can't really do much.

Hellow,everyone.How much free space can you use to install apps?

The Sensation's ROM is only 1G,and the system partition may eat more than 600M,may be 799M,so is there only less than 300M we can use?That' really bad..I usually install apps more than 600M..I do not want to install apps in sd card, that's terrible!
And may be the 1G is the data partition we can use?
So anyone who is using sensation,Could you tell me how much free space you can use?This is really important for me to choose to buy or not...Thanks
I have 805mb of RAM free and haven't seen it below 700 since I got it.

I guess you meant ROM and not RAM
another question (maybe mentioned somewhere else before, therefore sorry if that is the case): is there a way to get more space of the internal storage? as far as I know the Desire HD also has 4GB of ROM and 1GB user accessible (or am I wrong?)..is there a hack to get more space?
The ROM is actually 4GB with 1GB for the end user.

That's to say,the 1G is the data partition. That's enough..It seems that my choice is right, I booked one yesterday

We must partition the NAND agian,and doing that will lose all the data..May be can not turn on agian..
Or developers have other method
DHD actually has 1.14G for user data, but we only can use 0.95G~1.05G...

Encryption is it worth doing

All of my study is in the city so my tab could get stolen one day and at home i have a younger brother who loves to play with settings etc
Is the encyption worth the hassle?
Does it break anything?
Do i have to decrypt re-encrypt every boot is it slow?
I have never had this option before but it seems like a good idea i just want to know how it plays in real world use before i do it.

The problem with having an encrypted partition is that CWM at moment can't really do anything useful to those partitions. You cannot flash, backup, or restore via CWM. This means your ability to work with custom ROMs is effectively crippled. In fact, to undo the encryption (or if you forget your password), I had to nvflash back to stock. Factory reset via CWM cannot be done since, again, the partitions are still encrypted.
If in the future, CWM is able to access the partitions like the stock recovery can, then you'd be fine.

I wouldn't touch it for now. If/When CWM allows for it (possibly ICS, as I might guess that the closed nature of HC is limiting development around encryption support?) then maybe..
Thats a good point ae hopefully with icys than can also make abit more headway with the more advanced recoverys to
Never thought about that before thanks

[Solved]: Disk size is only showing 9.9GB

When I have my phone plugged into the PC, I noticed that is showing up as only having 9.9GB of total space. Is my on board SD card corrupted or something?

You can only use about that much for storage. It's normal. Please change the prefix of this thread to [solved]

No....the other partition of your memory Is for the phones software files, Rom, and some other things. It's not true 16 gigs....all phones are like that even the iPhone. Any phone that has built in memory for storage is like this

It's about right. A part of it is allotted to system storage (ROM)
If you have Titanium backup it will show you how it's broken down.
If not use "Quick System Info" I don't have the HOS with me or I would tell yo exactly how it's broken down.
Off my head about 1.8 is for system (ROM) maybe 1.5 or so for internal storage
a little over 10 for sdcard.
Once we get s off well be able to partition and get abit more space

As others said you don't get to use that full 16GB. There really should be a marketing law so they can stop this sorta confusion. Kinda ripping us of here.

Here's a screenshot, the bottom show how the internal is partitioned.

[Q] Question about GS6 app partition

What is the size of app partition on GS6? For example on my GS2 it's 2 GB and ofcourse it's not enough.
Welcome to 2015, the old days of separate partitions don't really work the same way as before, so if you buy the 32GB edition you will have about 24GB for all of your stuff (pictures, videos, applications, whatever) .

on a 32GB device it is partitioned into cache, system, data and some low level paritions like bootloader, recovery, modem etc.
on the data partition lies the /data & /sdcard partition wherein sdcard is running as an emulated partition that resides inside the /data parition.
Usually the data parition in a 32gb device is about 24gb so you'll be having about 24gb of storage for your apps and whatever files you put in /sdcard.
So in short they share the same storage space.
Great news Thanks guys.

That's true but I think his question may be what I answered, for system as where the apps are installed vs data of apps are stored. I say this because the S2 is a 16 gb phone with about 12gb usable for storage. He said he had only 2gb so I took that as he wanted to know system storage, as he said "partition" same as you said. No?
