When I first got my Nexus 5, the nearby places search was working fine. For some reason, it randomly stops working now. Yesterday night, it was NOT working at all. I have the feature turned on in the dialer, location services enabled, accuracy set to high. Woke up this morning and it was working. Now I'm at work and it seems to not be working again... Does anyone know what the hell is going on?

I am having the same issue but I haven't seen it work at all yet.
Same issue here.
Google is probably performing an update to the service I'm tipping.
Funny thing is before getting my N5 I was running the N5 port on my N4 and the dialer app worked properly. Now I actually have an N5 and nothing is showing except my own contacts. Hope Google fixes this.

Having the same issue here. It's working for a friend so it doesn't seem like their service is down.
Me too!! When I type in bbb it would suggest 222 like a touch tone phone. Google is up to something

I haven't used it before so I just tried and got nothing when I typed in pizza, just numbers.

Same for me. Now working.
Fixed itself over night and now working. Different problem now. Once I'm done talking the screen which shows who I just talked to doesn't go away by itself, pressing back button doesn't help either. Only pressing home button takes you to home screen. :silly:

i've been getting bug reports about once per day. i haven't sent them in or tried to see what's inside yet- it's been pretty busy lately.

Yes, I saw that too - only unlocked bootloader, haven't root or install custom recovery yet - developer option enabled. And, I only installed 2 dozen or so apps from the Store. Using a T-mo p/p micro-Sim with PAYG so it's running on WiFi for data, Talkatone & Google Voice setup to make a few calls - while seeing the battery life improved with some minor tweaks. The only crashes or freezes were from Boat Browser & Dolphin Browser so it might be related to Flash player ?
With an extended weekend coming up, I will drill it down to see what's up.
The bug reports come from the shell.apk, anyone knows how to disable them? I get about 3 per day.

Anyone have more info on this? I'm getting them and the report suggests its from Hangouts. I have a suspicion it's from group SMS threads.
I get this randomly too. Sometimes never in a day and other times a few times a day. Since this morning, I have gotten 3 of them. Anyone find a way to stop it yet?

I am stock/rooted and I get them as well. Sometimes several a day. Don't really know what's causing them but they don't seem to be indicative of any sort of major problem that I can detect so I am just assuming it's a weird KitKat glitch.

I'm pretty sure these are generated by holding down the power button + volume down + volume up. A snug case could inadvertently be pushing the buttons and causing a report to be made. I've had a few of these bug reports myself and I've found it to be true. Perhaps you're accidentally pushing the buttons, or a case is?

I probably fat finger my phone at least twice a week and see one of these. My question is this; do these things take up storage space on the
phone? If so, where can I find them so I can delete them?
My problem is that I can't take bug report no matter what I do

Hi all
Just got my 2nd nexus 5, first one went back for touch screen issues. Got 2nd one and this has problem too.
If someone sends me a text the pulse notification light pulses once and that's it. No repeat. However after that if someone sends me a text it works as it should, ie repeats every 10 seconds.
Seems very random as to when it works properly. Anyone else have this issue?
Thanks all
Chris

Yes, people have this problem on stock rom.. It appears randomly though and not as often as you're getting. A restart fixes it... Are you using Light Flow or any app to control the LED??
No will light flow solve this?

May be, May be not. Even light flow has some random problems with LED notifications... For some people it works flawlessly, for some it doesn't... Only way is to try it out...

Trying it now seems to work ok. Strange that my last nexus didn't suffer this problem. Wounder if Google are aware of this issue?
Also on a side note not sure if it's related but I'm sure my first nexus 5 did a software update when I first took it out of the box, my new one did not do that.

Yes, I think they are aware of it... I remember reading it somewhere around XDA about it.. Can't find a link to it though.. I guess we will just have to wait for the update and see... FYI, a reboot fixes the issue temporarily..
It didn't update because the ones which were manufactured in January came with 4.4.2 Out of the box which is the latest update!

Thanks for your reply mate, for me when I reboot the first message does not work, then they seem ok after that, that's just for sms, I get no notifications at all with whatsapp etc, however light flow seems to work ok at moment but would be nice if Google did a fix.
Are there any specific reasons for 4.4.3?
Is the radio better?
Is the OS faster?
Are there fixed bugs?
Are there fewer new bugs?
Is it more stable?
Is it more power efficient?
Are any of the above also true for the HTC+Verizon version we are given, as opposed to pure Google?
I would like to know this also. The only bonus I can think of is EPS mode which isn't as good as I thought it'd be (since I use different e-mail and text apps). So the biggest deciding factor for me to get 4.4.3 is a wash unless someone points out a bigger bonus that I'm missing. Till then 4.4.2 w/ Weaksauce is where I stay.
Its up to you. As there is a lot of fixes. But depends on the person. And what ROM your running. If you have your phone setup perfect and everything running great. Leave it alone.

OK Google works on any screen or while using any app. Also when the screen is off (while charging). Handy if you are one that uses it.
A lot of bug fixes and some new minor issues bit not much of a change. EPS mode enabled but actually preferred the regular PS which can be enabled by changing the value to TRUE in the defaulf.XML file.
I'm sure you saw a ton of news about Heartbleed. I believe all of the openssl libraries were updated in this release.

These features are available in the ok google settings on 4.4.2.
The settings were there but they didn't work. Works only on 4.4.3. Or at least that's what I read while trying to find why it wouldn't work for me previously (was on 4.4.2). Since updating, it works great.

Weird I've been using those features since I found them probably a month ago. Unless cleanrom made them work. I just tried it with a dozen random apps and it works fine, plugged in screen off also works fine. I wish it worked without being plugged in and screen off though.

Why does it cause the GPS and BoomSound logo to pop up every 3 seconds or so
Edit: After a day of use that app is garbage, Only works half the time and drains the battery way faster than it should(yes I understand its listening all the time, its worse than that.) Plus its using gps all the time, cant think of a reason it needs my location when all it does is trigger google now to start.
Will updating remove my root??

I've had it for almost a year, and yes it does use its fair share of battery, but u have to program it right. Being that it was made BEFORE Google released the ability to have it listening on all screens , there's an option to have it run ONLY while the screen is off, and I'm not sure what u mean about the gps, because it doesn't use location for me at all. U also have the option to blacklist it during certain apps (donate version ) its most certainly not "garbage" as There's really no other apps out that enable the always listening functionality… and if you do the regular ok google command, that makes the boomsound icon appear as well. So if you're saying your constantly seeing it, that means u didn't set it up right, u had it running ON TOP OF Google's always listening as well… so of course its gonna drain your battery… If u program it to only listen while the screen is off, you'll only notice the boomsound icon for a split second when u turn the screen on, and then it shuts off and googles listening takes over…

Just got my Samsung Gear s2 today and love it so far except for s health. I can't get anything to work. I've been walking all over the place and it's not registering any steps. When I do my heart rate it says try again and nothing registers. I've been researching this for a couple of hours now and I keep coming across something that talks about the s health manager and I have yest to find that. Is it something on my phone or on the watch itself.? What am I doing wrong?
What phone are you using? S Health features only work with Samsung phones.

Really? Well, that is good news for people who do not have a Samsung phone. I read it in a review of the GS2 and originally the S Health app was only available through the Samsung app store. I double checked and it is indeed now available in Google Play.
Thanks for this insight!

I am using a Samsung mega. I finally got it to work. Well what I should say is I went back and did a factory reset and then it worked fine. Now if I can just figure out how to make the sleep quality part work. All it registers is how many hours I sleep (or don't sleep) and I have to put that in manually.

The first one I had did the same thing yours did. I had to reset it to get steps and heart rate to work. I had lots of trouble with notifications on this watch as well and was having to reset it all the time. I took it back and swapped it and the second one has worked near perfect. I think it has only missed one notification so far and the other one was about 50/50. I would watch it close and return it if need be while you can.

Probably because it makes it a duplicate with the newly released Google's nearby share.
But it's strange that it disappeared by itself.

I hope this doesn't turn out like dark mode for the main Google app on the S20 ultra. I had it available for a couple of days after launch, but then it was over two months before it was rolled out.
If the same thing is happening here and Google is controlling for devices, then perhaps the Note20 Ultra is too new for Nearby Share, and so the switch hasn't been flipped yet. I just hope we don't have to wait too long for Google to figure that out.
