bam_dmux_wakelock - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

anyone have any idea how to reduce this wake lock, have about 1hr + of this wakelock during my sleep

Try turning off, freezing, hangouts and see if it goes away. Just an educated guess. I think it's caused by hangouts syncing

Some good info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1811365

I'm also experiencing this problem. I've tried disabling many Google apps (including hangouts) and disabling Google Play Services that were always running but nothing works. All I know is that it's related to mobile data (It goes away on WIFI, airplane mode or simply turning data off) and that it's not caused by a third party app (Safe mode doesn't help either). Did you ever foind a solution for this?, please let me know. I'm getting real sick of this and I'm considering installing CM or downgrading to 5.0.1, which worked perfectly.

[Q] Constant wakelocks with GCM_CONN_ALARM and GCM_CONN (GcmService)

My phone (Moto G running stock Android 4.4.2 rooted) NEVER ever gets into deep sleep because of these two deadlocks: GCM_CONN_ALARM and GCM_CONN.
I tried blocking them using Wakelock Terminator (either in Google Play Services or in Android System) but it doesn't seem to do anything at all, either with the keyword filter or the total filter.
The wakelocks only stopped when I disabled GcmService (using the Disable Service app), but now I don't get many notifications (Gmail, Twitter, WhatsApp).
Is there any solution in between? Thanks in advance.

Start uninstalling things like FB, whatsapp, viber, Twitter and so everything that may want to sync periodically.
See if you can filter out what is actually keeping the given service active, thus keeping your device awake.
As a last resort, factory reset and start over.
This popped up for me after using my alarm clock. Even after turning off the alarm, it still appears. Did you ever resolve the issue?
Nobody has a between solution? Not disabling it nor allowing it to hog our batteries..

Use Greenify in Boost mode (works with xposed)
Have you solved the problem? I'm also struggling with that wake-lock.
Use greenify and amplify with xposed framework that would reduce the battery consumption and with amplify you can control wakelocks.

Excessive Battery Drain on Airplane Mode

My Infuse 4G is always on Airplane Mode with Wifi turned on. I use it as a secondary device and like an iPod Touch/Media Player. However, even if Airplane Mode is on, the number one drainer of battery is Cell Standby at like 60-70%. Also, the phone never enters deep sleep and Android OS constantly keeps the device awake. As a result, from a 100%, the phone is dead within 8 hours. There has got to be some sort of fix for this. I'm running the latest Beanstalk 4.4.285.
P.S. I have entered AppOpps and denied the permissions to wake up and stay awake to the following apps: Google Search, Google Play Services and Android System.

Try rebooting. A custom launcher may be a culprit! Apex Nova Go are reliable! Do a clean flash again!
There must be an app which is running in background! Try deleting a recently installed app, try clearing cache of google+. Try uninstalling anti viruses which are useless in a phone. Install an app called Greenify in Play Store. Greenify most of your installed apps with it. It really boost battery life.
Change governor in performance to either Interactive or OnDemand.
And if you want, go into phone info (by dialing *#*#4636*#*#) scroll down to the button that says turn radio off, and that keeps the cell radio off.

Some apps are not properly closed out when you exited it. I had to force close some of them. Not sure if this is happening with other people. Go into: Settings > Applications > Manage applications or Running services open apps that you recently open/closed. If Force stop light up it mean the app still running. I'm aware that some apps remain running due to user setup for it to check for update. The app I'm referring to shouldn't since update is turned off or in manual update mode.

I have pretty much run out of options. I have no idea why my battery drains even in airplane mode. Supposedly it is because of "cell standby".
EDIT: If I can solve this issue, I can put my Infuse to good use again. Unfortunately, I can't use a phone for anything if its battery dies in 8 hours while idling in airplane mode.

Same here~ i just bought an 3.7V 3500mAh Li-ion extended battery off of amazon for under $10 and since the original is 1750 mAh battery im hoping it is going to do some noticable good. Nonetheless, the problem still remains so please if you (or anyone) should discover any breakthroughs than SHARE with us too... please! Thank you kindly <3
Try rebooting, it will help. Try force stop and disable the both "Google Search" apps in app manager (first maybe called "Google App" if you updated it). Guys please keep me updated with this because I'm so confused. It is so stupid and without any kind of tiny logic for the battery drain on AIRPLANE mode that turns off all radios and waves............

[Q] 40% Battery Burn Overnight (with WLD Screenshots)

Hey guys,
I had the issue with the 40% battery burn overnight again. According to WLD, the CPU was awake for 96% of the ~11 hours since it was charged (which explains it). I want to make sure I'm reading these right, so I've posted screens of wakeup triggers and CPU wakelocks.
I've got Google Now turned on, the "OK Google" keyword detection turned off, location reporting on, location history on, and location services set to high accuracy (I use navigation and what not and would prefer to not have to toggle it constantly). Please see the attached screenshots.
Some googling of my own told me it's location reporting keeping it awake, which I'm afraid is the case, as I didn't have this issue for a while when it was off (it's also been on for several days and I haven't had this issue).
So, I have two questions in total. Is it Google Now's location usage that's draining my battery and keeping my phone awake? Also, since this isn't an every night issue, do you have any suggestions or recommendations to solve it without losing Gnow functionality?
I am running Carbon (July 1st nightly) and the Franco Kernel r55. Thank you very much in advance, this issue has alluded me and annoyed me for months.
Update: upon further research, I'm seeing that blocking wakelocks from Google Search / Google Now related location services will eliminate the problem without affecting Gnow functionality - is there any truth to this? I've also seen people claim to have disabled location reporting without loosing their weather, nearby events, etc. I worry that disabling the wakelock will impede functionality because I don't have the screen on often while traveling. I just can't seem to get a straight answer!
Update 2: after a phone call to Google (yes, they actually gave me a good answer), I was told that Location Reporting *only* tracks where you've been to give you travel time and similar things. Turning it off doesn't disable weather, nearby events, parking location, and so on, so it's looking like just disabling it is a good place to start.

The data we need to see isn't shown in your screenshots. This is why I prefer BBS. You can just post a log and nothing will be missing.

Ugh, I knew I should have left it. I've got it installed now and will post a screenshot if it happens again. I've got Location Reporting turned off. I want to see if it will still give me the features I want, and if the battery drain issue stops, yippee. I will leave BBS there, however, in case it happens again.

All of the wakelocks that start with Nlp are due to location. Switching the location mode to Device only will stop them. Anything that relies on GPS still works fine. This should be the default setting.
I did a factory restore of the phone, latest Gapps, Carbon rom (07/07 nightly + 07/06 firmware), latest ElementalX Kernel now (so far, better temp/performance + equal or better battery). I know it's only an hour's worth of use, but a problem is pretty apparent.
Location reporting/history is off, Gnow is enabled, keyword detection is off. WiFi is on, and location services are in high accuracy mode. Why is a wakelock created by never released and how do I avoid that?
Is there any reliable setting I can use to avoid a random software issue eating up my battery? This inconsistency is driving me insane.

Music stutter

Literally the SECOND i turn my screen off, its almost instant my music stops playing.
This only happens with streaming services such as Spotify or soundcloud, so it is likely to be a wifi setting right?
I don't have Stamina turned on. I do however have Greenify and Amplify installed.
I have also created a tasker profile, using the musictrack variable to keep wifi on when a song is playing, but it hasn't worked.
Has anyone experienced this?

What I'm assuming is causing the problem (since you don't have stamina mode on) is Amplify. Try some troubleshooting and disable Amplify in Xposed, reboot, and test again. If that's the cause there MAY be a way to exclude your music app or WiFi in Amplify but it's been a while since I've used it.
If that's not it, I would use process of elimination like you did with Amplify with any other apps (like Greenify) by freezing them with Titanium Backup or a similar app.
I found a solution to the problem and it was indeed Amplify.
I recently had to restore my phone via TWRP and i had obiously limited the "audiomix" feature which is known to cause this issue at the time of the backup.
I did try to delete this post, but there is no option to

Hidden Wakelocks by Whatsapp

I am running into a Wakelock issue and I am completely stumped. For some reason, my phone refuses to go into deep sleep for hours on end. Better Battery Stats shows that the phone spends the majority of its time with the CPU at its lowest frequency, but refuses to go into deep sleep. The issue started when I clean flashed LinageOS back when I tried 14.1. Since 15.1 has recently released, I tried to have another go, yet the problem remains. I am using a Oneplus 5.
The very weird thing about these Wakelocks is, is that they are completely invisible. Wakelock Detector isn't showing any specific wakelocks (Advanced mode enabled), but does show that the phone isn't entering the deep sleep state. Not even for a single second. Better Battery Stats shows the same thing, with zero seconds spent in Screen off (deep sleep) and all the time spent in Screen off (Awake). No application is listed anywhere that's causing these wakelocks. They aren't visible under partial wakelocks nor kernel wakelocks.
Now this is where things get bizarre. I tried removing all my applications and reinstalling them one by one to find out if it was an app that was causing the issues. Each time I installed an app, I would check whether the phone would go into deep sleep when I wasn't using it. It turns out that the phone stopped going into deep as soon as Whatsapp was installed. Yet Whatsapp would never register more than a few seconds of wakelocks each passing hour.
I'm not sure where to even begin to try and solve this issue. Has anyone else ever experienced these kind of invisible / hidden wakelocks, and if so, how did you manage to fix these issues? Thank you very much in advance for helping me out

I think I may have something similar happening with WhatsApp. My stats show lots of time spent with CPU on and screen off. Wakelock detector shows WhatsApp at the top of the list. But I don't really understand how to solve it other than deleting WhatsApp, which I don't want to do. Did you get anywhere with it?

No, I still have the same issue unfortunately. Though my issue seems to be slightly different than yours in the sense that Whatsapp is very low in the list. The total minutes of Wakelock is far below the total minutes of awake (screen off). But uninstalling Whatsapp instantly solves the wakelock issue. Out of interest, what phone are you using and what rom?

I got here through a google search. I am not sure it's whatsapp causing this (haven't removed it yet) but on a Moto G3 with LOS 15.1 unofficial by Rahul I have the same symptoms.
