Get Lag free 1080P (MX Player) Uber Guide ;) - Micromax A110

Hello there folks!
My first thread so bear the simplicity I try to keep things minimalistic.
Here we go, I am a total video junkie got this 3TB hard drive full of HD Movies , HD TV series and what not, thing is when am away from my beloved Asus LED or on the move my Canvas 2 can't play the full 1080p properly while 720p runs just fine, so as I have all the content true1080p it was really frustrating.
Now no need to convert or wrestle with time or frame rate, with the following MX Player settings you can load up any content upto 1080p even Bluray source!
First things first you guys need the latest MX Player use Play Store if possible get the pro for no clutter ads.
You need:
MX Player 1.7.19 ARMv7 NEON
(Pro for no Ads rest is same)
Now just go to settings and then decoder set as follow:
0. Don't check H/w+ leave it unchecked
1. Uncheck correct aspect ratio
2. Check S/w decoder local,
3. Set CPU core limit to 2
4. Now the real deal, select 'Color Format' option and set 'YUV' it's experimental but it really does the trick!
(Using RGB 32 bit or 16 bit is more resource hungry and our device can't handle it so the
playback slutters)
5. Leave everything as it is I.e unchecked . Period!
All set now, fire up some eye candy and gaze through.
Tip: Go in settings then player check 'Quit Button' option every time you leave you should quit MX player to get it off the RAM otherwise if you leave by pressing back it lulls in the background.
Check some attachments, all content is full HD there is no single lag, voice drop, audio glitch whatsoever
whole deal is the new 'YUV' color format!
Enjoy ! Mucha gracias

You missed the most important step, set the color format to "YUV' using 32 bits stresses out the CPU its more resource hungry you will find this new color format setting only in the latest version I mentioned latter versions don't have it ..
Settings=Decoder=Color Format=YUV

In 4.2.1 m installed mx player pro but its say unsupported android version
Anybody help me plz m very confused????

as u said changing rgb to yuv has no difference in c2 ,mk65xx devices are not basically 1080p video playback supported , only thing it can do is by reducing frame rate by 15. and yuv is a color model for a display device as our canvas 2 is basically 16m colors , and 480p res. dnt need to change to yuv . rgb is good and fine.finally 720p - 30fps / 1080p - 15fps is the default seting for all mk65xx devices .to check for urself google it , u will see all devices supports 1080p video playback in only low FPS

Agreed I am also aware of mt6577 artitecture supporting 720p playback only, but using YUV to render vedios instead of RGB is helpful, RGB format does produce fine quality but is more intense on CPU and expenses RAM to a larger quantity and perhaps, I don't see any noticeable difference in rendering with YUV, On the other hand FPS of vedio can be different depending on the source , give it try though it works for me.

Why wm sucks to play mp4 video?

AS after searching and doing for last two years i now come to a conclusion that wm sucks on mp4 video..
no matter we use coreplayer ir wmp..
any solution?
What resolution, bitrate, type of videofile(not mp4, thats just a container) I've actually had some very good experiences playing many mp4 files back on my ipaq 210 at around vga, all work flawlessly. Maybe time to upgrade your elfin?
blame qualcomm or texas instruments for their technology
intel is better still
Think that it's more to do with how you encode your movies rather than WM as i recode to .mp4 and have good quality on all devices via CorePlayer, Wanted\Ghost In The Shell 2 Innocence\Sky Blue to which are what i tend to test a new phone with all running perfect.
I use DVD Catalyst or FLVtoAVI "the name means nothing does everything" depends on device.
Resolution of device, keeping same fps as source, keeping the audio bitrate down to save space as it's easier then for phone to read less in chunks, then video bitrate.
Once you find the optimum settings for your software then it's all plane sailing
Your device is slow CPU wise same as Excalibur so can't expect amazing results and having a faster CPU makes a lot of difference when movies concerned.

ok.i have download a video "street fighters 4 gameplay" from savevidcom which give option to dwnld as flv,mp4,hd...
now my benchmark for that video from coreplayer is like this.
frame rate 29.996
sample rate 441000
data rate 653kbit/s
What resolution is that running at? And is it any faster. I personally use avidemux to convert videos because its free and has tons of options. Another thing to try is to convert it with 23fps, can't even tell the difference

Thing is benchmark doesn't show quality as such will show how well your device will play the file but the original source file or recode file will be the quality depending on settings many of the movies on sites to show game play etc are very low quality mainly due to bandwidth.
Only wish i could capture my Touch Pro playing 9 as the quality is awesome

oik..go to savevid.com downld any video u like in mp4 format and then see.
u can tell us ur coreplayer settings??!)D

Newb question: Best video decoding settings.

Im going to try and make this short.
I realize this may not be the best place to ask but i know you guys are the best to ask.
What are the best 1) resolution 2) bit rate 3) quality settings for encoding video for the gtab that give you a nice picture and dont break the ram bank.
At 768x450 2000bits/sec My test movie is 1.3gb. At the native 1024x600 the file size hits in the 1.7gb neighborhood (nice looking but probably not feasible unless i am only going to put one or two movies on here at a time...would like to do 5 or 6)
I tried it at 512/300 (50% of the native resolution) and a bit rate of 800bps and did manage to get the file at around 500mbs but the quality was just sub par for my tastes (fuzzy VISIBLY jerky).
Rather than me testing for days and days..i was wondering what settings you guys had set on (and why).
Thanks!
Allen
Edit: The H.264mp4 format was causing artifacting that i couldnt fix at any setting..
Right now i am using .mp4 at 768x450 (or a 75% scale of the native resolution) and a bit rate of 1,500 with the sound set at DVD quality (which actually does help since i use blue tooth head phones). File size still just at 1gb (that maybe about the smallest i can do with the quality i like). Even at that setting...its still a tad jerky. What should i try? Lowering the resolution and upping the bit rate a tad more???
Still wanting to know if any of you guys have a magic setting for me!
The good news here is that i am not loading my up memory with mp3/songs (have an iphone for that) using pandora radio instead. Regular apps dont take up too much room so i figure i probably have around 10G to play with for video. (when vegan gets the SD card utilizatin fixed ill have another 8G on top of that).
Bump:
Still looking for settings suggestions.
I am using 720X480 @ 1,500kbs in MP4. This gets me ~1.2gb files. It is the actual resolution of a DVD, which is where my material is sourced. This lets the display device do the scaling, rather than the encoding process.

Duh that makes total sense!
Testing now.
Any ideas what the "video quality output settins are". 1 is best, 32 is worse. 26 is recommended.
I dont have much to go on. I see the recommended settings for an ipad are 1335 bit rate and a quality setting of 24.
UPdate: When i did a test run with higher settings i noticed the video would lag every three or four seconds. I concluded that the settings were too high for the hardware to handle. Likewise when i set them too low..it was jerky, and i concluded the bit rate was too low for smooth frame rates.
At 720x480 1500Bits (and a "quality setting of 24"). The lag is MUCH better, but it still lags about every 20 seconds or so (very briefly). I will test at 1400bits/26q and see what happens.
Jeeze! A lot of work.... its too bad someone hadnt already figured all this out and just given me the quick answer! lol
Thanks again for the answer!
You should be able to play 1080 with no lag?
Sent from my V9 using XDA App
You may want to grab a program called Mediainfo. This program analyzes the video file and tells you what profile was used, video and audio encoding stats. I was using this to make sure my source and output files were not using the "High" profile. I have some 1080 files re-encoded under the "Simple" profile and they look great with zero lag. I have re-encoded all my files with Handbrake and the all work without lag.
I used the info listed in roebeet's FAQ post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842899

BUT why when the screen resolution is only 1024x600?
DONT need media info unless reatail dvds are encoded with more than one setting Are they?
I saw roebeets post about using the ipad settings but that makes no sense. THE ipad has a different resoultion and a less powerful processor.
I am getting lag at 720x450 1500bits but not at 720x450 1400 bits. Very interesting.

Videocam illusion

Hi,
I'm the developer of Videocam illusion app. I have just checked a problem with SE X10 audio recording speed (supports only 48.000 Hz recording). I will release a fix ASAP.
Regards,
Mobileillusion
EDIT 2:
I have just released version 1.5 of "Videocam illusion". I hope the audio recording problem of the previous version was fixed for the Xperia X10.
I have upload the apk, but I would prefer that you download it (and rate if you like) from the Android Market:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.androidillusion.videocamillusion
Thanks for your support!
What's new on version 1.5
- New user interface
- Optimized video player
- New retro filter: Chicago
- Animated mask: 8mm
- More filters/effects/masks: color, blur & white border
- Adjustable filters & effects
- Front camera support (Android 2.3+ required)
- Zoom (if supported)
- Ready for Tablet
EDIT: Here the SE X10 bugfix release (with 48 KHz recording)
Thanks, I guess most of us have been wondering why the sound sounds like chipmunk/accelerated and so does the video.
excuse my English. take this opportunity to ask if there a way to increase the recording frames. In fact, when I started recording 15 fps, but after a few seconds down to 5-6 .... tanks
Hi,
Thanks for your application encd for your replay ....
I just wonder if it would be possible to have the video encoded not only in MOV but in MP4 and/or 3gp formats in order to be also enclosed in MMS ?
Regards
Hi again,
thanks for the feedback. I have changed the recording freq to 44.100 Hz.
Could you tell me if now is working propertly?
About the questions...
The app records MOV files (MJPEG format). I have developed the MJPEG encoder/decoder. The frame rate drops while recording because each frame must be encoded. I think I could speed up a little, but not a lot.
About MP4/3GP format Android Multimedia API doesn't support direct frame encoding to video. :-(
I'm working on a MP4 encoder, but right now speed sucks. I will try to optimize.
Regards,
Mobileillusion
Hi
I will test it in few minutes and let you know what are my impression
Regards
Is this the latest version? I just download videocam illusion from market today...it show version 1.o..
Getting between 7-13fps only 640x480
Sound still abit chipmunky but it's better than before. Hopefully you can update it again
Hi,
the atached file is a "SE X10 bugfix" version (1.0.1). I will release a new version in the Market with audio recording freq selector (not only 44.100 Hz) the next week.
Feel free to let us test out your pre-release and provide feedback to you
Dev, thank you for working on this. Much appreciated

Well, you said Android's framework for 3rd party apps doesn't support direct frame encoding. Right?
Then what about using superuser to get over this framework?
All firmwares here are pre-rooted, so this wouldn't be a problem.

Hi Adolf1994,
you're right, direct frame video encoding is not available for 3rd party apps.
I have to investigate the Android source code to see how to directly access the encoder. If anyone can help me would be fine.

Much better, but it still takes the sound up a bit, maybe go up to 44.1Khz? Unless thats what was making it go up. Then i guess take it down.

Hi Realorasz,
I have checked the problem and you're right. I think 8000 Hz works better (with no speed up), but also 48 KHz.
I will release a "quick version" soon.
Thanks!
PS: I'm right now also working on a full resolution image viewer "Gallery illusion HD" that supports big "jpgs" and displays pictures with no quality loss. Now is in public beta and can be download free on the Android Market. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Good to know
Hopefully make full use of the 720p camcorder once you're able to fully use the encorder, hopefully the ROM devs here can help you out.

[SOLVED] Video performance issues

Am I being unrealistic in my expectations WRT playback of video on the Transformer? (NB After some of the replies below, I've added this comment to emphasise my point - I am NOT talking about high-def video here [e.g. 720p], just normal PAL or NTSC video taken from standard DVDs.)
I've ripped some DVDs using Handbrake on my Mac, using the default High Profile settings. The resulting h.264 files play smoothly and nicely on the Mac.
However, on the Transformer, the playback is juddery.
These are standard-resolution DVD rips, from TV shows and movies.
I wouldn't have been surprised for HD content to be a bit dodgy, but I was surprised not to be able to play SD content smoothly.
Has anyone else got good video playback (i.e. do I have a dodgy tablet) or is the Transformer with its Tegra 2 really not up to playing full-screen SD video?
Don't use high profile. Search before you post - there is many threads about video issues of Tegra2 devices here and in Xoom forum.
Why do people keep doing this, you have a Google tablet, Google this.
The Tegra 2 has a strange limitation, it doesn't play high profile. Before you make the mistake everyone else does, high profile is not a measure of quality, its the measure of compression. The bit rate is the quality.
Put it on high profile go to advanced, turn off 8x8 transform and Weighted P Frames and Subpixel ME to 6, use MP4.
Don't bother with other peoples presets, just use Moboplayer and you will be good with this setup.
Thanks
OK, thanks to you both for sorting me out with this. I did (contrary to appearances) try to find a thread on this topic but failed. Clearly I must brush up on my searching skills.
What about YouTube playback? Even this works terrible on my transformer. It keeps droping how of frames with latest firmware update.

there will be an update for this, also the browser player works fine for me.
Settings that work
OK. After some testing with the first chapter of the Matrix DVD (because I have it to hand and it's got some nice pans and action to check the juddering against), I have found that the following settings in Handbrake give me acceptable performance on my Transformer with the h.264 codec. This is standard-definition video, please note, NOT high-def.
Note that sorting this out is far from as simple as "Google it" because there are a great many mutually contradictory sets of advice out there!
I took the Normal profile, then went to the Advanced tab and disabled CABAC and set the max B frames to 0.
This was the least dramatic setting that gave smooth playback on my Transformer. So I guess I should repeat my original question - given that my tablet appears to require much lower video settings than generally advised AFAICS in order to get smooth video playback (it's hard to measure this but this is my preception), should I worry? Or is this pretty much what everyone finds with the Transformer?
(The easiest way to get smooth video seems to be just to switch to the MPEG-4 codec and to increase the quality to about 3 to compensate. However, this gives files that are 40-50% larger, so I wanted to avoid that if possible.)
I usually use Handbrake for everything but I was in a hurry so I tried Freemake Video Converter. I converted a few downloaded x264 MMA videos. It has built in settings for Android. I was surprised how well it looked.
I'll still probably go back to Handbrake as soon as I have time to setup and test various suggested settings listed here and some other forums.

NOT about high-def content
Can I reiterate that my query is NOT about high-def content (e.g. 720p)? I'm talking here about being able to view simple SD content from a DVD I've bought, without juddering.
Can other folks view standard DVD rips on their Transformers using standard Handbrake settings, with no juddering during whole-screen update sections (e.g. pans or action sequences)?
I just used Adobe Media Encoder CS5 (part of the Creative Suite) to encode a file and it played flawlessly on my xformer. I used the Apple TV Preset as a base then modified the profile from main to baseline.

Could you share which modifications you made? As I don't have access to CS5, I'd need to reproduce the settings on my software.
Thanks!
there's a handbrake profile for video encoding for the transformer. search for it.
seshmaru:
Unless you know something is there then you don't know to search for it. Now I know, I have searched and found that what I posted above is basically the situation - no B frames, no CABAC.
That being said, all the discussion I have seen has been based on 720p content rather than standard def so it's not clear to a newcomer to video issues that tthe same restrictions necessarily apply.
Anyhow, that seems to be the answer so thanks to all for the help.

[Q][Resolved] MX player and HEVC/H265 codec

when this app will support a 4K videos?
thanks:laugh:
The app can already play 4K video and HEVC. MX Player uses ffmpeg as a base decoder, so whatever ffmpeg can play, MX can play. Of course, 4K and HEVC support isn't optimal by anyone right now, so don't expect stellar results.
Expect hardware-decode of HEVC/X265

When I play a 1080p vedio of HEVC/X265 movie with mxplayer 1.7.32, the player just only can play it using software decode, and the playing is very slowly.
I try to enable hw/+ mode but it failed to play.
So, expect that hard-decode can implement quickly~~~~
Hardware and/or hardware+ decode is not possible until manufacturers make chipsets that support HEVC. Those won't come for at least another year.
You can find a planned production timetable by Qualcomm here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57336946&postcount=119
Well, I have Qualcomm 801 that should support HEVC decoding (at 1080p), but it doesn't work. MX can't use HW(+) on HEVC videos, and it's not even in the list that I can get using Android API (MediaCodecList).
It seems that even if you have chipset with HEVC support you still may need to wait for manufacturer to get it supported. So player developers can't do anything about it.
Indeed, thank you vivan for the clarification!
Learned how to solve the slow film problem
you can solve the slow playing problem by going to this address on your phone : settings-developer settings - advanced settings - Enable OpenGL traces - systrace (graphics)
and its done , and your welcome

I tried this, but it made no difference. The video playback is still slow, and periodically the sound stops playing for a few seconds while the video catches up.
Mistake

Yeah you're right it wasn't it
but i think it's supposed to be like this , i mean if you pay attention movies go slow when it's not that important , like when a conversation is going on it's good and when it ends and it shows for example "a house from a distance" it goes slow , you know what I meann ?!!!

thank you very much
I found setting the number of cores to use (in MX player's settings) to match the number of cores in my device processor worked. Video was very jumpy and audio/video sync failed before, now 265 plays perfect. (Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8)

perfect... I change the number of core to use, so it finally work with H265 HVEC codec
If didnt work, try in MX player play with settings there, for example what works for me (lenovo tab yoga 3 pro) was: limit CPU core to 8, YUV colours, and use tricks for faster play -> any one from these not set = video playback fail, all of them = absolute superb (even in battery saving mode); so keep trying, the hope is there
I tried everything above mentioned. I have OnePlus 2 and a custom RR 6.0 ROM, version of Android is 8.1. HEVC (×265) lag in mxplayer or any other player in my phone. So please someone give me solution for this. My phone has a SD 810 and SD 810 support HEVC but mxplayer doesn't use HW or HW+ at all it only use SW. So any developer develop any app that use HW to play ×265 or just they use software decoder for that.

Looks it's due to the post count limitations. But, you can still share the drive link by simply masking to prevent the URL detection.
eg: use h**p://www.google.com instead of http://www.google.com
