NOT a Best Kernel Thread - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First off, I'm not asking what is best. I have looked at the threads for the franco and faux kernels and can't see any information. What is the difference between the two? What are the advantages to flashing either kernel? I have been away from ROM flashing since I moved from the HTC Hero into the HTC Amaze a couple of years ago so I have to re-learn.
Mods, if this is in the wrong section please move it.
Thanks.
UPDATE- Saw that there are not supposed to be comparison threads either. Tried to delete but couldnt'. Where to I go for this info then??

[Q] deleting stock apps / upgrade kernel & rom

Hey guys, first android phone here.. Just rooted my phone last night via adb (not new to *nix) and got rom manager, superuser, root explorer etc.
I just deleted the stock apps that are safe to be removed, however, kindle for the LIFE of me will not go away. Searched entire filesystem for anything pertaining to kindle and nothing comes up, yet it still shows in my apps menu.. This really bothers me... lol any suggestions?
Also I haven't come across any ROM's yet since the bootloader being unlocked was not too long ago, any kernels that are out however?
thanks for any help..
Have a look in the development forum. There are a number of ROMs and kernels out already. No AOSP ROMs or kernels, but CM7 is being worked on.

Yeah, new to the forums as well.. Was just looking as the virus rom and kernels from Adrynalyne, was just about to edit this thread.. thanks dude.
Most of the roms out right now have the bloat already removed for you. Just flash whatever you like and you should be good!

[Q] ?'s about Inspire updated to GB OTA

I searched and read through several threads on this topic, but still have a couple of questions.
Just updated OTA this afternoon, and so far have been pleased. It redid my Friends widget (not real fond of that one anyway, but haven't found a replacement I like any better), and I like the UI changes I've seen.
I understood GB would have a different keyboard than Froyo, but mine's still the same. Any one else notice this? Is there a setting or menu item I need to select?
Also, I've been doing a bit of research into rooting this phone. Will the upgrade change anything as re rooting with either of the methods commonly discussed here?
The keyboard is the same because it is the HTC keyboard. Rooting will leave you with a downgrade rom. You will need to flash a working rom afterwards. You can flash a rooted stock rom or a custom rom, your choice. You might get a little butt chewing for not posting this in the Q&A forum.

Yep, your right. Wrong forum. Mods delete please.

Awesome Rom

So obviously I'm a noob to this site and the Androids. I recently purchased an HTC Inspire and left it stock for almost a month while I read on "rooting" them. I have since tried 3 different ROMs, CoreDroid, GB Sense 3.0, and Absolution 1.5. I stuck with Absolution because this is the kind of ROM that makes voiding warranties worth it. I just wanted to give THANKS to the Collective Team here since I am unable to post anything in the Dev area at this time.
HTC Inspire
Absolution 1.5
Kernal 2.6.35.14 LorDmodUE
+ 1 for Absolution
The reason you can't post in the Development section is because of too many inappropriate posts by noobs. If you took the time to read the stickys, the forum mods setup threads for each ROM in the Questions and Answers section. There is a thread for the Absolute ROM. That is the place you should be posting this and not starting a new thread.

New to rooting and custom ROMs, few questions...

Hi everyone,
I'm fairly new to customizing my android phone. Have only had a Galaxy SII before, which I flashed to CyanogenMod.
Now I might be interested in flashing my new One S, particularly due to better battery life but also for enhanced possibilities.
I can of course read the guides on how to root & flash (although it seems a lot more complicated than on my Galaxy SII).
What I'm more worried about is, how do I flash back to stock, if that should be necessary later on? Is it very complicated?
Now, I actually like Sense 4.0, HTC keyboard and some other HTC things, so I would like to flash a ROM with Sense. I've looked through the forum and concluded, that either Noble or Trickdroid might be suitable for me. I know that it's not polite to shoot down the one or other ROM, but could some of you tell me the differences between the two? I can't really point them out myself.
Thank you very much!
Best regards
Casper

If you can read, you would know the differences between the 2 roms, and you would also know that THIS IS DEVELOPMENT SECTION, NOT Q&A !!
Wrong Section.
Sorry, how to move?

Harsh.
But yes, it is the wrong section. A mod will probably move this post soon enough.
That said, I just read them over. They look to be mostly the same. Stock with a few tweaks here and there. Noble looked the better of the two to me.
Both have some very vague language though
Fully optimized and tweaked
RAM optimizations
Speed optimizations
Excellent battery life!
Better CPU Performance

You can always just take a backup and flash each one and give them a day or two test run.
Moved To Q&A
Please post questions in the Q&A section

Do you know how to flash stock rom and un-root, if it'll be necessary?

Does the KT747 Kernel come undervolted stock?

I was just wondering if the kernel came undervolted stock for the AOSP JB version. Or would I need to use an app like system tuner to undervolt it.
Thanks in advance!
i dont know if it comes undervolted. but i know you can change it with the ktweaker app that is included.
heres the link. if you put in minimal effort youd save yourself time and furstration waiting for answers that are readily available.

just wanted to know if it came undervolted but thanks
no problem, wasnt being a jerk.
i can see hwo it could be read that way.
good luck, its my kernel of choice.
FYI KT747 kernel is one of the most popular kernels for this phone therefore its thread is almost always in the first page of the original development section. So it is safe bet to look there first before posting a question like this as that thread will answer your questions. Word of advice research first and only ask questions when you can't find the answers because I noticed that a lot of the questions that are asked can be searched within this forum except for the troubleshooting questions. Have fun with the kernel it is a very good one to use.
