Anyone else noticed a change in the apps that are offered when trying to select a file for upload from a Web app? No longer being offered things like FX or Root Explorer - just camera, documents and camcorder. Has the API changed?

I have just brought a Motorola Xoom and trying to figure out the best way to browse photo's based on a network share.
The closest I have got is Twonky however client won't install on the Xoom and can't browse as such. More select and download for local viewing.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Give ES File Explorer a shot - it has both thumbnail preview and gallery browsing for pictures in its LAN view. Little slower than I'd like, but it's a nice all-in-one solution.
Floating image is also nice.

Floating image does not work of a local network device. SMB, UPNP etc.
ES file explorer is great however missing a few features
Full screen
Swipe picture changing (Not arrows)
Image zooming
Speed - Not quite fast enough.10+ secs between pics.
I'm looking for an app that will let me browse pictures on a network share
From what I can tell general file explorer's don't let you swipe through pictures in full screen
I know about UPnP apps, but they seem to be a bit slow so would prefer to bypass UPnP

I use ES File explorer to browse through the photos stored on my ubuntu server either from my local network or remotely. Works great and photos show up as if they were on TF.
Is it possible to create an app or a mod or something that will make the phone recognise online storage as local storage?
As in, I have comic, music and photo files I would like to view on my phone, but apps such as HTC music and other third party apps only see local files on the SD card. Is there something i can do to make apps believe my online storage such as dropbox is local so i can essentially "stream" or view them as if they were on my SD card? I know ES file browser can access my dropbox, but can i get this idea implemented system-wide?
I hope you guys know what i'm talking about/asking.

Hmm I'm sure you can stream music/ look at photos/ watch videos etc. on the official Dropbox app itself?
If you get a HTC Sense 4.0 ROM (ViperS etc.) you can go to the gallery and select Dropbox, Skydrive and so on, in the drop down menu where it says "Albums".
I think not - because it needs constant internet connection and two (online/local) will not work well together.

Hi, I have searched and struggled to find anything that can do what I want to do.
So, there are apps like gmote that allow you to control a keyboard and mouse.
These apps also allow you to open music files and play them, using a file browser interface.
What I am after is an app that allows me to open up applications (.exe) on my PC, so that I don't have to have my screen turned on when I want to power up XBMC or what have you. Does anyone know of anything that can do this?
Obviously the music remote play apps allow you to open music files remotely using a file browser. I don't mind putting a load of shortcuts into a folder somewhere if there was an app that could read them.

I've been on ios for the last 6 months and finally came back to android. When navigating to files on my pc via my phone I used to be able to choose which app I wanted to use to open a file, particularly video. Now it seems es file will automatically open an mp4 file without giving me an option. I've reset any defaults for the app. My problem is it seems to take forever to load the mp4 to play. Just looking for some guidance.
