Link2SD gets me "limping" instead of "linking" .Ext2 partition lost . Pl help !!!
Specs of my phone
MTK6575
Cortex A9 CPU
Company : Generic Chinese. Manufacturer - ?
Pl see attached CPUZ screenshots
Running 2.3.6 Version Android
I installed Link2SD after partitioning card with EXT2. L2SD Picked up the ext2 partition very well and the auto linking feature worked till alas , I tragedy struck - I had ONLY 256mb memory on the phone so I tried to move some phone apps to ext2 by linking, by 1st converting em to user apps( using convert to user app feature.) from system apps and then link them using L2SD
After than Google Play kept giving error message process "com.vending.android" stopped unexpectedly . Alright - so I tried to flip some of the apps from ext2 back to phone. But after that NOTHING worked . Google play continued with error and browser app ( internal system app ) kept giving error process "com.browser...something" stopped working.
Then I noticed L2SD complained that the ext2 partition cannot be seen
Same prob when I mount Card in Linux - EXT2 ( 480 mb) has DISAPPEARED.
NOW link2SD has got me limping instead of linking.....
pl help !!!!!!

Hi guys !
Maybe you gonna think ("another partition thread") but I didn't find anything related to my issue so I'll explain it to you :
I decided to partition my sd card. Everything works fine :
- partition in CWM (1024 for ext, 64 for swap)
- copy back my sd card
- configure link2sd (i choose ext4 at start)
- reboot
Then, I wanted to link all apps to sd. It works for some apps (about an half) but the others didn't want to link. I got this error message :
[INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE]
Some apps works, some apps doesn't. It was a veritable mess. So i decid to wipe data and start again from a clean install.
So I :
- partition again in CWM (1024 for ext, 0 for swap)
- copy back only Titanium Backup
- configure link2sd (i choose ext2 at start)
- reboot
And I started to backup my apps. All the apps linked to the ext partition except 8-10. I reboot the phone then I could link 2 mores apps. Then again. I do it again until apps doesn't link anymore. So I'm here with an sd-ext partition nearly full (600Mo with 70 app) and an Internal memory nearly full too 20Mo left.
It's very strange because I read everywhere that 512 partition is enough with 100+ apps and I have 600Mo with 70 apps. Can you help me ?
Thanks a lot for helping me to solve that problem
Keru
PS: Maybe I should test S2E script.
Can't solve my problem. Tried with a full wipe and a reflash of CM9, it doesn't work.
When apps is linked, Internal memory fills up too.
Problem solved with S2E and partitionning with Minitool Partition Wizard. Don't know what was wrong. Link2sd or CWM.

Thats the solution, maybe its a matter of taste maybe not but AMONRA recovery as more options like choose your ext tipe, i dont use link2sd along time ago i use S2E in CM7 and CM9 in CM10 davisnt mode they work flaweless.
So i dont now what probems link2sd gives plus with the mods above dont loose any widget...
To use s2e in cm9 with ext2 or ext3 this is the solution...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29366650
If you have ext4 i will explain how i do with amonra recovery if app dont recognize, whatever ext we have in cm9 after install s2e we go to settings install app grant root then settimgs and mount ext as ext4 without jornaling check that box then reboot and app will recognize ext and allow to choose what we want in ext, howevee with ext4 in the first reboot i reboot to recovery and choose ext3 to ext4(i already have ext4 but i do this not to partition ext again but im clockwork maybe if partion sd agaim will work) and when i reboot app recognizes ext4 and allows me to have like i show in the link above....
About link2sd cant help.
Have to go hope it helps.

For CM9 S2e will work. You need to follow the partioning method and then follow the S2E script (S2E) procedure to increase your internal; memory... google it and you will find how to go about freeing internal space using S2E, If you are unable to find anything >>> Hit back ivl fin the link and post it..... Cheers

I can not install some apps from the GApp store "Insufficient storage available"
I can install from amazon. ( Loaded Dolphin browser ) Started ( I think ) after trying to download Google Chrome.... Failed
Using cwm, wiped davlik and main cache, checked and mounted /data, fixed permissions. rebooted.
Tried to download and install lucky patcher... no luck installing. ( will keep trying )
Nothing help so far. just trying to download and install the sixaxis cntroller app ( very small ) yet a larger file from amazon will install fine.
any ideas? Thanks to everyone in advance.
UPDATE I can install Kunundrum - game app 14mb from GApp store but still not sixaxis controller 147k insufficient storage
This is frustrating when I know I have space. Help Please
Fixed Yeah!
After several methods and hours of reading.. I finally found out what happened. When I purchased my p3113 tab I installed link2sd as I wanted to use my external memory. But after changing the setting to external storage... ( stop me if you have heard this before ) I realized that Samsung Galaxy does not support this function, So.. I deleted the app.
Little did I know that the setting in link2sd were shell commands that set environment variables in the system. so they stayed set to external even after uninstalling the app.
Installed link2sd and found the settings set to external... changed to internal. ( my new swapped external card.. see above ) and everything worked and everything began to install correctly. Hope this helps anyone with similar issues.
Thanks! I haven't had the error on my current fresh rom, but I did get the error on one of the roms I was flashing last week. I also did the same thing with app2sd, before learning it wouldn't work.
If you're hurting for space, backup everything and perform the sdcard/extsd swap, it works great with a fast class 10 card!

Need help and can't post in the thread required because i'm new. I installed explorerman's rom xenon system http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048312 which installs great but after install and rebooting several times I still have an internal storage issue. I have a 32gig SD partitioned with a 4gig ext3 partition, when the rom boots I get an error about internal storage then I get an error about the m2sd app saying the script is either missing or out of date. I follow the instructions and update through m2sd then, after a few minutes reboot the phone. Next it still say's the internal memory is full, 1mb free and m2sd still showing errors with no data moved to the sd-ext. I tried a 4gig sd card with a 1 gig ext3 partition but still the same problem.
I am doing as said and wiping dalvik cache etc. I have a backup of the ONLY rom that works which is based on android 4.03 but I want the original setup back on the phone so any help needed and please, no stupid comments or immature comments as I have seen from some posts here. i'm not a child but at the same time I am not a tech-head, thanks.

I wouldn't know how to, I just trust the developer and since the rom does everything I wouldn't know where to look. the last time I tried editing a rom zip, it wouldn't install because it didn't match the original signature of the zip file. Also, because I am a new forum user, I can't contact the developer directly for some help.
Make 1 gb partition(Enough)! As the script uses 100mb of internal for every 500mb sd-ext....so making 3gb is useless.
Plus while configuring the app disable safe mode and see if that helps

Will try that, thankyou
Nope, didn't work, wiped the SD card and made a 1gig ext3 partition, also disabled safe-mode as suggested, still loads EVERYTHING to internal memory with 1mb left, it also comes up with a busybox error and a script error on first boot. I went into M2SD and set apps, data and delvik to use the sd-ext partiotn and waited, nothing, so rebooted the phone, nothing. All with the same message of 'The current status does not match your settings for this option' under Applications, Data and Delvik Cache, also 'Could not set the sdcard readahead' which is set to 512 as default.

download the zip file and open it file manager using mobile (root explorer..)(set r/w permission) then find init.d folder inside INT2EXT script copy and put it into
system->etc-> init.d
paste it..
then reboot
Seems like a nand burn flash mimicm9 and see internal memory and tell without any scripts

Why you don't install cm10.1 beta 3. Its great and cool and stable to. Based on 4.2.2. Android os install link2sd and make both partition of fat32 by mini tool and don I have this problems when install the ROM you have then after I do this I have 8 GB SD card 1 GB fat 32 partition and other for data. Alls going good smooth stable. And a have 43 app installed on my pico and remaining internal memory showing 87 mb my good suggestion is to change ROM .
And give a time to the developers of (explorerman's rom xenon system) to make the ROM best
sent from my HTC explorer having ROM cm10.1 beta 3.

Did all that, I always do a complete clean of the phone before I try anything but still not working. I think, because it was a T Mobile HTC Explorer rather than a generic one that there is something hard coded into it. I see through the forums so many people having no problems at all but they have generic phones rather than unlocked phones from service providers. I am not a programmer so this is just guess work and from experience, I can't even restore the phone using an RUU because it will only accept a T-Mob one. If there a way to replace the entire software on the phone then I would but it's programmed into the chips at factory level (low level) since the phone was produced by HTC for T-Mobile. If the phone had been bought directly from HTC then there would be less problems. So far, I haven't found a single rom that doesn't have some kind of problem with this phone.
Thanks for all the suggestions but I'm guessing it's time to 'pick a window' for it and just save up for a more modern phone than trying to keep this HTC Pensioner going.
i have s5830i
with 190mb device memory 2nd partition 250mb
i bought the link2sd plus a while ago because i though by using it and the 2nd partitioning i can transfer my app's and its data fully to the sd as said in every where ,i think, so i tried it
1- i opened it and selected my app
2- clicked create symbolic link
3- selected everything (including data ) its plus
4-waited till it finished loading
the i decided to see my app (facebook) it is still in the internal
and it even got bigger
so it is normal and then i have done the same with every other app
the all got bigger and i now get the insufficient memory message
and i can't even download app's from google play
so what to do
am i using it wrong
or did i waste my money

I think the way you use link2sd are correct. For the problem you mention, maybe you can check how much the apps use the storage space by check it one by one from "Storage Info" in link2sd options, with this you also can check if your apps moved or not to 2nd partition, even only number. For example, first you install facebook, and then open link2sd. Don't link facebook apps with link2sd yey, but open "Storage Info" from link2sd menu. Remember the "Internal" and "SD Card 2nd Part" free space. And then, link facebook app. After the process done, open again "Storage Info". If you see increasing "Internal" free space and "SD Card 2nd Part" free space decreasing, then you're not wrong using link2sd. Your app moved to 2nd partition.
*sorry for my bad english and explanation, i'm just noob
yeah, i agree with ^
it does that in some roms, it makes a link from the ext but fails to remove the source. this is basically an issue with how you mount the partitions at boot in the init.d folder. check your init.d scripts there might possibly be some conflicting scripts or something was declared incorrectly.
---------- Post added at 09:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:41 PM ----------
try completely uninstalling facebook, then recreate the mount script, then reboot. if the the storage in link2sd does not detect your ext partition, recreate the mount script again and reboot until it does. after that you can then proceed in reinstalling facebook and moving it to ext afterwards.
p.s.
using ext4, formatted in gparted from a linux machine is the best way to go about making the extended partition because windows based partition managers such as partition wizard seems to create the linux ext partition table in a not so correct way, such as allocating from the wrong bit and stuff like that. and by my experience when you part your sd do it by plugging the sd directly to your computer and not from usb cable from your phone.
I recently ran into issues with my 2nd partition on my SD card not being able to be mounted by Link2SD. I went through a bunch of solutions before I finally discovered that it was showing up as "FAT32" in Minitool instead of "Ext2" as it had originally been formatted as.
I then went ahead and reformatted it as Ext2 and this 2nd partition was subsequently able to be mounted by Link2SD.
However, now I'm running into an issue where all of my apps are showing up as one big fat System Data block indicated here - http://i.imgur.com/ksukQGG.png. It had previously shown the individual app folders where it shows the big "System Data" block now.
I'm assuming that Link2SD created symlinks that are broken somehow? I would assume so at least. I can't fix it by running "Relink all application files" because it says "Found no files to link".
Other issues of note:
1) Can't install any apk files from the Play store or manually. On the play store it says "Error -110".
2) When I open up the Android app manager, all applications (both system and user installed) show up with a 0kb size.
3)***All applications that I've tested are still running normally on my phone, so they exist and are able to be used normally somehow.
Can anybody help me out? I'm unable to move apps/install apps/clean cache/etc. because of all this.
