Why are there 2? I came over from the S4 where there was 2 as well. There wasn't when I was on my skyrocket though. Just curious.

One is for developers who have kinda worked on others work. Either combined known techniques mods, compiling methods to their own desire.
Original development is for something significantly your own. Some significant development that you made that deserves recognition and shows obvious effort. Like Paranoid Android, cyanogen mod, Franco kernel, faux kernel, hells kernel etc..
Edit: I usually go to original to check out the meat and potatoes of what's going on, then check Android development to is if someone has made improvements to it that I want.

Thank you for clearing that up.

Hey. I'll admit, I complained. I mean he'll the Sgs2 just came out and they have 1.5 oc already and a bunch of others, but this makes me a lot less worried cause I choose this over CM or anyone..
I'm stoked I loved TW when I had my vibrant!!! Now hopefully faux will get his g2x bc I also loved his work. Development for this phone is looking up =D

Different phone, different developement. Cant make that comparison. We have 2 OC kernels, CM7 nightlies, and AOSP builds in the works. Strong development doesnt come over night. I dont understand why people expect our dev section to look like the Galaxy i9000 in a matter of weeks

Let's not turn this into a complaining thread. I'm excited to see team whiskey. This ain't anything else other than a heads up. Word
This is kinda freaky, and I'm being completely serious about this. Last night I had a dream that teamwhiskey got a g2x and they were gonna release a new rom soon (Yes, I'm a complete dork who dreams about android development lol)
I dont even know who team whiskey is, I've just seen the name by glancing at the vibrant forums when I had my epic.
Don't worry I haven't had any dreams about 2012 yet so we are good for now

Yes 2.3.3 ASOP! This is going to be the bidness! TW rocks! Not sure about other phones, but they rule the Vibrant Development! Most Vibrant Roms are based off theirs!
Can't wait!
....
Hell yeah! Can't wait for a release. Used Bionix on my old Vibrant.

TW is awesome their NexGen rom for the vibrant was beast...I'd use them over CM anyday
Even I'm excited and I wasn't even aware of TW.

Did they have all the fancy stuff CM has or what? I mean I'm a CM fan coming from the N1 so I don't know the difference and since there is a thread here, it is a good place to ask.
Or was it awesome because of speed? mods?

Tf101 gummy rom

So I was browsing goo manager and saw that there was a gummy ROM up for our transformers. Has anyone flashed this? I'm downloading it now but have to leave for work, wish that I would have seen it earlier.
Also, do you know of a place where there may be a dev thread for it?

Never heard of gummy, but search in dev forum only turned up codename android, team gummy apparently worked on it.

Tried it on my Galaxy Nexus and it is a really solid ROM with some good features but I will stick with AOKP due to its extra features that gummy doesn't have and a little better performance.

[Q] SlimBean vs. CM10 SuperLite

I've been using CM10 superlite for a while now, and was thinking of trying slimbean out. From what I read in the thread, they sound pretty similar, so I was wondering if anyone who has tried both wouldn't mind letting me know of the key differences between them, and whether or not the differences are big enough to be worth switching? Thanks!
There is a Jelly Bean discussion thread specifically for questions like this, and "best" threads are not allowed. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1738817

Just make a backup, you can always go back
I've tried both, I prefer SlimBean to be honest.
But be sure BOTH are good, It's a personnal preference.
Also both can support CM10 kernel so :good: to both devs to let us many options!
Both are similar and great
Well slim bean is slimmer than Superlite... So if you want as bare bones as possible. I've tried both and I like slim bean more too. Although now I'm on liquid r2.

Ive tried them both and I believe it depends on your phone. I have a Samsung Infuse 4g. The CM 10 didnt seem to run as smoothly or as fast as SB. Of course, that was before the "stable" version was released the other day. Slim seems to take up a lot less space (memorywise too.) Im pretty happy with the bean (running 2.9)
Basically they are the same. Im no developer so I dont test all the intricacies but I would consider myself above novice level.

Where is all the developement?

I have had this phone since day one.. and I love it more than life lol xD but the matter at hand... I have watched development for this phone decay.. all roms are either getting abandoned, or support is just dying out.. this isn't applying directly to just AOSP, or AOKP, either.. but touchwiz as well.. should I switch to a different device? Ima nonstop hacker, and used to build roms myself.. but since I started tattooing again, I have no free time.. any good development phones out there?

you can only do so much with the same version of touchwiz jellybean. this device will most likely not see another carrier update. aosp will be the only way future updates are brought to the device. carriers specifically do this so you keep upgrading devices. that being said, why dont you have a note 2 already?
Not a fan of the size, seems easier to break

They did announce that feature pack update, plus on release the device was given its 2GB of ram just for future support of new android versions.
My guess is it will get 4.2.1 official, but that will be the end of OTA. I have a feeling though CM and AOSP roms will be around for a while. Too many people have the US models of the GS3's, and due to the fact MOST of the code is similar between devices, it should not be hard to keep them all going as long as theres someone who cares to work on them.

you couldnt be any more wrong.
The development hasn't stop just slowed down. There are 4 new ports and some of the older roms have moved on to 4.2(mainly CM,liquid smooth and slim bean). The other roms are still being updated. There is also a new ROM based on 4.2 called Pure Google. Team Baked is working on a 4.2 based ROM.

As a backup to my S3 I have a Samsung Fascinate & just put JB 4.2 on it. If there is still development for a now antique phone, you really don't have to worry about the S3 not having development for a long time to come.

Aokp popular?

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places, but it doesn't appear that aokp is very popular amongst galaxy s3 users.
I see a lot of Roms, carbon, bonestock, hyper drive, MIUI, cm, etc. Aosp and touch wiz.
However, I don't see many people talking about and using aokp.
Am I missing something, or is aokp not that good on the galaxy s3, not as supported, etc?
Thanks!

I definitely like it better than cm. Not a huge fan of cm, too few customization options IMO, same with PA. Although, I do like pacman ROM.

Cool. I will check out pacman.
On rootzwiki, is there a specific thread for the Verizon aokp ROM? I can't seem to find it.
I am definitely intrigued about pacman. I guess you prefer aosp to touchwiz? I can't stand the look of touchwiz, but my bonestock ROM was working pretty great with good battery life. I don't know if with so many features with the pacman ROM, performance or battery will suffer. I will read up on it.
I am on an unofficial miui for now.

Not sure if the features would hinder performance or not to be honest lol. If you go on RootzWiki, forums, team forums, AOKP, you'll see d2vzw and that's us. I'm on the latest nightly I think but I'm about to check out pacman, but I'm kinda waiting for some more of the 4.3 issues to get worked out.
And yes, I very much prefer it to touchwiz. I kinda decided on the phone by AOKP's presence actually, and then Andy got it and made bonestock and I was sold lol.
