I'm sorry if this has been brought up before. But couple of things I noticed after flashing 4.2.2.
1. The camera no longer opens when pressing the camera hardware button. It worked on 4.1.2.
2. The new 4.2.2 lockscreen allows taking pics from the lock screen (swipe to the right) but my camera never opens. When I swiped to that camera 'widget' all I see is a small camera icon in the center and a spinning progress circle that dissapears after a while (camera still not opening)...this is very annoying, the bug is glaring...
Anyone not having these problems? Did I get a bad flash? Thanks!
I think you had a bad update try repairing it in pc companion

Do you know whats really going on behind the scenes behind an update? Is it reflashing the full FW again?
I'm rooted and don't want that to mess things up if it installs files partially....

Try holding your camera key for few seconds and see. My camera comes after 2-3 seconds. Just a nudge and nothing happens.
Camera opens fine from lock screen if there is no pattern lock/pin.
My camera key works fine on 4.2.2 when I hold it. Even when screen is off it still serve as a shortcut

I flashed the Venom ROM. Ever since then I cannot use the lock screen shortcut to the camera. I.E. holding the phone horizontally and pressing the volume button.
I have enabled all the other gestures that I want, like swipe up and down but I cant find out how to get the camera back.
Anyone else have this issue? any solution?
Second this.
It stopped working a few days after I got the phone and I'm still on the stock rom.
This started even before I rooted/S-Offed/added custom recovery to the phone.
I'm running ViperOne & it works fine for me.
I figured it out. I needed to have the AOSP lock screen.

Never mind I lost my swipe gestures when I go to aosp. when I swipe the screen vibrates but nothing happens.
How does one activate the widget that tells you if you are holding the phone horizontally?
I had it appearing fine a couple of weeks back, but now, using GCam7.1, I cannot seem to activate it.
I have tried holding the phone at an angle for a few seconds and tapping the screen but the on-screen 'protractor' widget does not appear.
This was a valuable addition to the camera features.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Silly question. I like to launch my camera from my lockscreen using the double press power button shortcut. If I remember it correctly, it used to unlock my phone, so I could take pictures instantly. But since the latest OxygenOS build, I always have to unlock my phone to open the camera after doublepressing power. Not sure if it has to do with the latest build or if I changed a setting somewhere.
Does anyone know if there is any to fix this behaviour?
Working here. It doesn't unlock the phone per say, just the camera. I'm guessing you have it turned in in settings, settings>buttons & gestures>quickly turn on camera.

Yeah, I have it turned on. If my phone is unlocked, it works like a charm.
Yeah, it's not a full unlock, just the camera app. I can launch the camera app without unlocking from the homescreen by swiping the lower right corner. But the doubletap power button doesn't work. It does open the camera, because as soon as I unlock, the camera app is open and ready to shoot.
Same problem here on 10.0.2 for me... Any fix?
I use swipe gestures to open camera from lock screen...I like to use the letter V and it works great on 10.0.2
I use the letter O for the flashlight.

Yup, gestures work like a charm. Doubletapping power button doesn't.
What just happened? Well it seems Sony (or Google) have managed to make taking a screenshot a lottery when pressing and holding the power button.
Before you would get a nice little screenshot button beside the power button while still being able to view what's on the screen.
Now screen goes black (seriously?) and a screenshot button appears at the top of the phone. Good luck taking a screenshot of a video or something similar, it's pure lottery.
Also before you got a sub menu after the screenshot was taken for a quick delete, edit etc and now Sony have managed to cover up the delete option with a mini picture of what's just been screenshot.
Pretty poor Sony, massive stuff up!
Or is it just me?
Well that's 2 posts I've seen to put me off 11 already . This does sound pretty poor. I use the power button screenshot feature a lot.
Does the Google assistant screenshot option work any better? Have to hold the home soft button and choose Share Screenshot for that one. For some reason pressing the dedicated assistant button doesn't show it!
You have option to go to All Apps View(Running apps pressing square from 3 button navigation) and from there you can take screenshot of that particular app.
It seems it's more and Android 11 issue (they call it a feature) which, for me, is worse than 10.
Yes you can now take a screenshot using the square apps button but that also freezes the screen as soon as you press it making video screenshots hopeless still.
I now have to use AZ screen recorder.
God I hate it when a company "improves" a feature like this.
Good to know about the new screenshot feature using the running apps menu. I guess for taking screenshots of videos then the 3rd party app option is going to be the only choice. Unless they fix the screenshot issue in a future update .
So I got the Android 11 update today and decided to check out the screenshot problem. I now see what happens with the black screen when playing video.
That said, the screenshot does actually still capture the video, as you can see from the photo I uploaded.
I guess it would be nice if the video didn't disappear when doing this but the functionality of taking a shot from the video is there. Not sure if that helps anything?
The little pic does seem to be hiding the old delete option you are right. Unless the delete option has just been removed entirely?
This is for my wifes phone, we both have S21+5G devices. Her phone will launch the camera when pressing the side power button to wake the device. It does not happen every time but probably a 50/50 chance the device will show the lockscreen correctly vs launching the camera app.
Any thoughts on where to turn this off or what is causing it?
In settings search up
Side Key
And look at all of em

Thanks, I looked and the double click/tap for camera option was checked. I am pretty sure we are not double clicking the side key but I unchecked it anyway and will see if the behavior stops.
Yea so i have played with the side key settings and the device is still being weird opening the camera, maybe it's haxxed. I will try to get the phone factory reset and hope it clears up.
