I have a Micro USB OTG cable that I use with my 360 controller on my Galaxy SIV and all is fine. On the Nexus 5, my 360 controller will just blink it's lights and no input is received on the device (it looks like the Nexus 5 is not detecting the 360 controller). This is a shame because other peripherals work such as my wireless mouse and wireless keyboard (with their receiver end in the OTG USB port).
Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this a known issue with the Nexus 5? Is there some sort of requirement with the hardware that the Nexus 5 does not have to support a 360 controller?
Yeah I tried using my wireless xbox 360 controller with a reciever + otg cable, and it didn't work as well. Works perfectly on my nexus 7 though. Hopefully someone can find a fix for this.

Ok i noticed a difference, let me try out a fix
Nothing...i tried everything, i deleted something, added something, edited something but still no input...i think it's because of the green led flashing...while it is flashing the joystick itself doesn't send any command to the phone...can you check if when you put the joystick on your nexus 7 is blinks like on nexus 5? it shouldn't right?
I have to try with usb bt joy center, i know it will make the led stop blinking....maybe tomorrow i will post some results...
Would like to get this to work too...

I have also attached XBOX 360 wired USB controller to my nexus 5, the lite in the middle blinks but the controller is not detected by android at all.

The problem is that there are no drivers for the Xbox 360 control pad.
You need xpad.ko for the controller to work and ff-memless.ko for the vibrators.
Unfortunately these have to be built for the kernel you are running and as far as I know nobody has built any for the nexus 5 yet

Still no luck to this day. :{
Have you tried with Elemental kernel?

My apologies if this has been posted already. Couldn't find anything on it in the search.
One of the things I was missing when I moved from the Prime to the Infinity was the native PS3 controller support. Well I decided to give it a shot here with the JB update and it worked!. I simply plugged in the controller with the BT enabled and mashed the PS button when suddenly the BT icon in my notification bar lit up in blue. I went to settings/BT and the controller is paired. I unplugged the controller and everything works fine.
Great news!! Thank you for your feedback

Not on the infinity with BT.
General question:
It seems you pair it with USB cable from the controller pluged into the dock, only then you can remove the USB connection and use it. I dont have a dock and as you know the tablet itself does not have a "normal" USB port (just the one for charging).
Can i pair my PS3 controller using just the tablet as well?

To my knowledge there is no other way than to use the dock to pair the two.
You could buy just the USB dongle for the tablet, and use that in lieu of the dock. It's a lot cheaper.

I don't know about a tablet-only method (maybe with a USB-OTG adapter?), but you can pair the controller with any bluetooth address using a PC under linux with the "sixpair" program.

I haven't been able to test BT pairing yet, but the PS controller worked fine tethered with the dongle on ICS. I dont' see why pairing wouldn't work. the dock's port is just a pass through to the tablet anyway.
I don't know if it would work, but if you know the tablet's BT address, you can download Sixaxias Controller BT tool on the PC which lets you manually enter it into the controller.
I haven't tried using the PS3 controller without using Sixaxias Controller app running.

So I have been using DSLR controller with my Canon 70D. I've been using the USB connection with a Nexus 7. It's been working fine and then about a week ago it just stopped. It continues to not recognize the camera even though it is on and plugged in. I am unsure why the sudden failure. The cables appear to work outside of this so unsure what the issue is. Any insights would be great. I have the most recent version of the software on the nexus. Thanks - Carlyle

I found a similar thread about this issue here: DSLR Controller and the new Nexus 7.
Maybe you can find a solution there.
If not, please check the [2014.07.09] DSLR Controller v0.99.5 BETA thread.
It's Chainfire's app thread where you can also post your question.

Pretty sure you can't do that. Only with a 360 controller, and it needs to be a wired one.
Well, thanks kinda disapointing.
But I still got a old PS3 Controller, and its working with most of my games.

No problem, man. Just try to not sound so aggressive next time. Mistakes happen.
So, I am currently a bit confused about this thread. Is it somehow possible on stock or not?
I recently tried the XBox One controller via cable on KitKat stock, but to no avail.
A wireless controller for PC isn't available until later this year, so I don't think this is a valid solution right now.
Xbox One controllers do not transmit data via USB ever.
The usb on the XBO controller is for charging only.
It is a wireless only controller as far as data is concerned.
You will never ever get usb to work because ghe controller does not have that capability with any system. It is an all wireless controller except fof charging.
That is why the guy who said you have to use a wireless pc reciever is correct.
Sorry there is no possible work around as the usb port doesnt physically support data transmission.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
But it is news at all. It is good to know.
Has anybody tried the wireless XBox One so far?

100% untrue. Xbox One Controller works via USB on my Windows 10 computer, no additional drivers. I don't have any wireless adapters or Bluetooth installed.
Unfortunately, this isn't the case with android. Neither USB/Wireless will work without support from Microsoft.

You will find that windows automatically installed drivers for the xbox one pad as it did for me when i plugged it in. due to being a MS device it has its own repository to aquire the driver from and as such may of updated without you even noticing
EDIT: i stand corrected as of windows 10 the driver is bundled into windows, but there is still a driver, its just windows 7 and 8.x users that need to run a driver update to download them, again this would happen when they plug in the pad anyway

Inaccurate statement, you are just the bearer of in correct information
so all that is really needed is for someone to figure out how to port the usb drivers that windows uses for the xbox one pad (which is fully supported over usb on my gaming pc as well) to an android version. I am very tempted to scour the net for any such development already occuring, failing that i will mayb e develop it myself with the people who are developing on the Nvidia tablet who achieved root on it in the first place. I am considering buying one of these devices myself, but i may look to see if a newer version is in the pipeline anytime soon and if there is save my money for that one. if only they had a shield tablet x1 edition like the tv box
No need to keep quoting me.
I was provided and in turn provided inaccurate information.
I apologize.
Hi,
Purchased nexus 5 (refurb) and as the tittle states, my computer seems unable to recognize this device. I've switched the USB cable as well as test it with another device AND I made sure that the usb configuration is set to MTP,so I know it's the nexus itself. Weirdly, it does receive a charge. Any help would be appreciated as I am hoping to root this device.
Thanks guys
You tried different USB ports?
If you are using Windows, no new devices appear in device manager after connecting the phone?
Was it ever recognize by your computer? Was it recognized by the seller's computer?
Once connected to your computer, swipe down on the Nexus 5 screen, there will be options to change connection type.

Seriously? Nice try though, thanks anyway
Does the phone function properly other than not being seen by your computer? Were you able to try it on another computer?
Does the USB port recognize an OTG drive?
If everything works (mic, speaker, etc.), it's possible that the USB port is damaged in some way.

I'm assuming it has to be damaged. I've tried three computers so far and all it's doing is charging the phone. I don't have an OTG cable on hand so it's hard to determine if it would work that way, but pretty much everything works out of the box except for this issue.
This is pretty annoying, I was looking forward to putting some custom ROM's after working with the s6edge sluggish Touchwiz software
Yup, sounds like th USB port is damaged and needs to be replaced.
When buying a replacement, make that the seller has good feedback. I saw a few posts where the replacement port had issues with the mic, charging, or data transfer.
Hello, I purchased a Dodocool 3 USB 3.0 + HDMI + External Power hub for my OnePlus 7 Pro. The adapter works fine on my Note 9. However, I can only get HDMI to work with my 1P7P. I have OTG Enabled. Any advice? Would really like to use the hub / monitor / keyboard and mouse. One I use a standalone type c to a OTG adapter keyboard and mouse works, just not with the hub.
Thank you in advance!
USB storage is detected on USB 3.0 ports just not the mouse and kb.
I have the same issue and I opened some threads around the web looking for other feedbacks.

The problem seems to be common on hubs that deliver video out. I tried using the original OTG cable paired with a simple USB3.0 4 ports hub and all the devices are properly recognized. Instead, complex hubs are recognized as a "storage" device, no matter what you attach to them (but storage + HDMI works on several hubs).
I posted a similar question on Reddit. No answers yet, I basically want to know if Dex style hubs work with op7p. I currently use my old v20 with HDMI USB mouse and keyboard with power delivery, but it doesn't work with my v30 even tho USB to HDMI works. I want to buy this phone, but don't want to make the same mistake twice. I like using moonlight to stream my PC for gaming.
Dang, yea - I wonder if it is an issue with usb 3.0? It detects drives attached and HDMI just cannot talk to kb or mouse. I am going to keep poking around the system.
I wonder if it is a kernel level issue?
I fixed it! Flash this kernel! https://forum.xda-developers.com/on.../kernel-kirisakura-1-0-0-op7-pro-aka-t3933916
So just to clarify, HDMI, USB keyboard/mouse, SD scard, and power delivery all work together?

I'd back up via Twrp then flash the kernel.

Is there a Kernel that would also work for the OP6T?
Just installed twrp, rooted my new and fully updated OP7 Pro and then flashed the kernel but the result is the same.
USB-c to USB works
USB-c to hdmi works
USB-c to HDMI/USB/SDCARD/JACK/RJ45 - Only HDMI Works.
Anyone got any suggestions to where I might have gone wrong?
Does anyone have another solution other than flashing the kernel ? i dont want to root my phone and i really need to use my device to connect hdmi+usb port+audio jack at the same time .
