Keyboard swiping problems - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Using the standard keyboard with the swiping method especially, it keeps kicking me out of the app I'm in almost as if it's sensitive to certain gestures. Anyone seeing this problem? Happens a lot using Tapatalk.

It's a more general problem: touching or sweeping near the bottom of any app screen can cause Android to think I'm taking one of the bottom row buttons, for example using the shutter button on the camera. Anyone else?

Keyboards on cyanogen

I'm loving CM7 so far and the only thing I've noticed is that the the touchscreen is a little off. I have tried 3 keyboards and my accuracy is way off compared to a froyo rom. Buttons on the bottom like space sometimes don't register in portrait orientation. Anyone else notice this?

Same happens to me. I noticed it because it makes me so mad. Sometimes I miss the key. I don't remember the stock keyboard but I feel like the one on cm7 doesn't reach all the way down to the bottom

Floating keyboard - a disaster?

Hi guys,
I am struggling with the floating keyboard to the extent that I want to smash the damn thing to pieces .
1. For the love of God - how can you move the floating keyboard around? I manage to move it once every 100 tries....
2. When in multiscreen mode, it's extremely slow and laggy. Do you have the same problem?
Thanks.

long press on it. than you can move it.
I had no lag issues with it, but recently i pulled thumb keyboard out of mothballs and have been using it.
i just take 2 fingers one finger on a character or number and the other finger on a different char or number, hold for a sec and move.
hold down with two fingers and move when you see blue border appears. floating keyboard is useful in most places as it can move around but prediction and accuracy are horrible. download TouchPal keyboard from store, it's the best but no floating keyboard or a split one.

How to get SNote to stop zooming when palm hits the screen

Is there a way to get SNote to stop zooming in when your Palm hits the screen? I tried the disable hands thing at the bottom right, but it turns out SNote still detects two fingers and palms.

I'd like to know as well, and I have the same problem in Sketchbook Pro.
I've also got the same problem in sketchbook pro. It's be great if you could just disable finger input entirely when the spen is out, and soon by tapping plus or minus or something.

Bump...this is an overlooked flaw in the UI design. XDA to the rescue! Its a bummer when your writing and all of a sudden...you are zoomed in at 200%. Someone help us...also the settings tab on the status bar is frequently activated when I'm writing. I think that when the pad is in S-note or any other writing mode for that matter any non-pen input should be ignored... until switched off or reboot.

It's annoying me so much that I'm likely going to return the tablet tomorrow. I'm still within my 14 days. When I right on a notepad or notebook, my palm definitely sits on the page. I end up zooming in/out or hitting the *system tray (clock / settings etc).
I love the multipoint screen but there's got to be a way to turn it off.
GMD Spen also requires root. I don't want to root my device until it's out of warranty!

Touch input should be disabled when your spen is within the air-view distance from the screen. Just make sure your pen is close to the screen before you put your palm down and do not lift it too far off while you write.
Really wish for a control to turn off pinch zoom in S Note on my Samsung Note Pro!!

Default home screen

So my Nexus 5 gets here tomorrow but I've been playing around with the kit Kat launcher on my Xperia.. I figured out how to add panels but is there a way to set one as default? Thanks!

I believe the default screen is permanently set to the first one to the right of the Google now screen.

I don't know if getting to Google Now from the home screen by swiping to the right is set up in a way such as Apple's way of getting to the search panel. It seems more like swiping from the left starting kinda OFF screen, like how you tend to do with slide-in settings tabs and such in different apps. Only guessing though, as i don't yet have my N5 (should have it by Wednesday at the latest), but that's what it seems like in every video i've watched. Someone feel free to correct me if i'm wrong with this.
Yup when Google now it's activated it is a normal swipe from the to access it

[Q] bottom part of screen is non-responsive

is anyone having an issue with the bottom part of their screen be non-responsive. I posted on the One+ forums and also noticed that I'm not the only one having this issue but there seems to be NO response from One+ itself.
Does anyone have a workaround if they have experienced this?
Thanks in advance.
Are you using a screen filter app? If so disable it, this is the cause of the bottom part of the screen to not work particularly when you're installing apks

No, not using a screen filter. I've checked the One+ site and it seems to be something that is affecting some users.
Try to ground the phone my plugging in a earphone. When I first have my phone back in Sept I had the same problem.
