Wow, firstly, punctuation.
Secondly, do you have the HTC One X (Endeavoru) or the HTC One XL / at&t One X (Evita)?

I bought a brand new XL and it prompted me to update to the latest version, which was 4.2.2 but now I cant access my phone as mass storage. I have debugging on and no connect to pc option in settings. What can I do?

It no longer uses mass storage, it uses MTP now. You need to install HTC Sync Manager on your PC in order to access the sd card properly.

That reminds me of a rare problem in windows. Sometimes it happens that when you uninstall usb devices, the usb.inf gets removed from the windows/inf folder, or something like that, so you need just a generic one and place it there again. After that the usb drivers for mass storage or MTP should get installed again by windows. If this shouldn't fix it you might want to search for similar problems.

Yea I tried everything but fortunately I found out I can access my SD card through airdroid. Pretty good solution in case some one has the same problem.

Deleted OS

Hey all, so last night when I was trying to flash a new ROM onto my phone, I wanted to make sure I deleted everything off my previous ROM so I went into TWRP and basically went on a deleting frenzy. I wiped basically everything from system, os, to cache. Lets just say my thought process wasn't so smart. So now im stuck in hboot. I pmed Scrosler yesterday and he basically told me to RUU back. SO now for the last 5 hours I've been trying to look up how to do that. I downloaded a 1.85 Evita cingular RUU thingy, and tried using fastboot. Now I've run into another problem, my computer can't recognize my usb. Ive tried two different usb plugs of mine. I tried uninstalling HTC sync so that it could uninstall drivers and such, and then reinstall but to my avail that has not worked. So I can't even fastboot. So now I'm stuck and Ive looked on other peoples threads and such and can't figure this out. Yes I know I'm a noob. I SUCK. So if anyone could please help me out. Im rooted and unlocked bootloader. I get stuck in bootloop obviously because I dont have a OS. I can access Hboot and fastboot.
Thanks alot for anyone that could help me in this great time of need.
EDIT: I solved the problem. I just used my fathers computer which recognized my usb and RUU'd to 1.85 then unlocked bootloader etc. thanks for the help guys

Doesnt HTC sync manager already update/install the latest drivers for your phone automatically?
You should manually install the drivers and turn off HTC sync manager. That may be your problem. I would uninstall it.

Ok, so I uninstalled HTC sync. I found a link to download ONLY the drivers.
Yep, getting same error still, USB device not recognized.
Try mounting the storage in TWRP, PC should recognize the 'removable disk' and you can put a zip onto it and flash the rom that way.
This way worked for me when I did the exact same thing. I thought I was screwed; now I'm running TN SE 2.2, highly recommended.

I tried doing this last time, but my PC isnt recognizing my device. It says USB device not recognized. This is the major issue I am plagued with otherwise I would do as you said.'''
EDIT: Ok so I was able to get it recognized on my dads laptop, he is running Windows Vista. So now when I go onto my computer and mount cache, (cant mount sd card through twrp because it says E:failed to mount /sdcard(invalid argument)AND UNABLE TO MOUNT SDCARDWHEN TRYING TO READ SETTINGS FILE) oops caps), it says I have to format it. I right clicked and tried to open as portable device and that works but I can't drag my ROM in there.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this because the new HBoot is stopping the 1.85 RUU? Wouldn't you have to 2.2 RUU?

he is correct, you'll have to use the 2.20 ruu if you were on a 2.20+ rom. unfortunately you'll have to wait for a root method too :/

But assuming you were unlocked before, getting it back is just a matter of flashing a custom recovery and superuser.

[Q] Getting Error 170 while trying to RUU to 3.18...what am I doing wrong?

As the title says: I'm trying to install the 3.18 RUU for my AT&T HTC One X. I'm currently on an old build of CM10.1 (beautifully maintained by H8rift) and was wanting to try the latest build he posted with the 3.4 Kernel. I am S-Off and Unlocked. I searched the forum (internal search seems to be broken at the moment) and all I keep seeing is mostly go to fastboot THEN run the RUU. Well I'm in fastboot (enabled the menu from within CM...less I just misunderstood that completely). Fastboot shows "Fastboot USB" but the RUU still gives Error 170. What did I do wrong?
Running this on a Windows 8 x64 system, installed HTC Sync Manager (still didn't help). I updated the Android SDK Tools to the latest version. My CID is all 1's (as per the S-Off directions). I'm at a loss here hehe.
Ooh I have TWRP 2.4.1.0. And yes I barely post, just always looking, reading, etc.
Is the USB port you're using 2.0 or 3.0? If it's 3.0 (it should have the USB icon and a little ss) try switching to 2.0. Also, try running RUU while not in fastboot.

Yup running it on my USB 2.0 ports. Tried my case ports and the motherboard ones, same thing. Also just tried it with the phone booted. No dice. Even using the HTC USB Cable (not like there should be a difference but hey, just in case). Maybe I should threaten the phone...with a hammer. (Nah I'm not that mean).

It seems to me like a driver issue.
if while in fastboot mode fastboot devices does not show the device, The RUU will not work.
uninstall HTC driver and HTC sync and any other phone software (for samsung or whatever else)
Install latest HTC sync
make sure fastboot devices lists your device, then run the RUU

Hey you said you were on Windows 8. You may have to manually install the driver to get it work, that's what I had to do. Or you could use the universal adb driver, but if you're gonna RUU, I'd be safe and use the HTC one.

Time to continue flashing! I think what happened is I had the universal USB drivers but then had to install KIES for my bro so it replaced them. Then installing HTC on top of that made it give up. Thanks you two! I'll post if I have any other strange issues.

Dear Turbo Mach 5,
Could you please provide the detailed steps you followed to RUU your ATT HTC One X.
I am also planning to update my ATT HTC One X with 3.18 RUU to use CM 10.2 based roms.
Please provide this information which will help me to start with my device.
1) Whether we need to re-lock the bootloader ? (I have SuperCID and S-Off)
2) After RUU ing whether we need to unclok the boot loader and root the device if we have SuperCID and S-off?
Thanks and Regards,
Sathish.

You don't need to relock your bootloader to the run the RUU because you have s-off. And your s-off status and unlocked bootloader should survive the RUU process. All you need to do afterwards is flash TWRP recovery again, then you can flash a ROM. Please be aware that cm10.2 is still very alpha and multiple users have reported bricks from running it.

Hi,
I'm having trouble using the RUU as well. The problem seems to be getting the usb driver for my oneXL working. every time i plug it into my win7 pc, it goes through this installing drivers process but having clicked on "display details", the "android phone" component of the drivers says "failed". I've tried universal adb driver, and HTC usb driver with and without htc sync installed. the HTC sync manager keeps saying there is an update available for usb driver, even though I uninstalled the driver manager and htc sync.
Have not been able to get adb working, when i recently S_OFF my phone I had to use adb over wifi - but it worked.
Any help greatly appreciated, thanks!
Your post is a bit confusing as to which drivers you actually have installed. Download the latest HTC Sync Manager from the HTC One XL page at HTC.com, install it, connect your phone, drivers will install, uninstall HTC Sync Manager but leave drivers installed. Also, make sure you're using a usb 2.0 port and the HTC cable that came with the phone.

[Q] Cyanogenmod 10.1 USB Mass Storage Issue

After getting the last week's CyanogenMod onto my at&t one x, my USB mass storage doesn't work. All that happens is I click "turn on mass storage" but it doesn't show up on the computer in a drive nor logging in usb storage.
My drivers are up to date. And I flashed a newer cm but it hasn't changed...
Please help

It's more likely to be your pc than your phone that's causing the issue. Also, sometimes it takes a minute for it to come up and lastly, if you want to be certain.
Make sure you're using twrp 2.3.3.1 or under or 2.6. All versions in between have issues wiping.
Check the md5 of your rom zip file to make sure there was no corruption.
Lastly make sure to do at least a factory reset though wiping system doesn't hurt either.
If you've done all that and you're still having issues try another usb cord and usb port.

I wouldn't trust any custom 3.4 kernels just yet if that's what you mean. It's still in beta and has weird issues so any modifications made could intensify instability and even cause permanent damage.

When you say storage people assume you mean the SD card storage.
If your phone is just black screen but gets detected from your PC as QHSUSB_DLOAD then the emmc partition table might be wiped. The only way to know for sure is to try and enumerate your partitions as in the unbrick evita thread. If you don't get a bunch of partitions then the partition table is gone and only JTAGG or motherboard replacement will work.

I would try the unbrick evita thread if I were you just to see. If the PC doesn't detect it at all. It's likely a power issue or the board is physically dead. But that's rare.

The battery is unfortunately dead so it won't power on at all. No worries though, since a replacement is arriving soon. I don't want to run into this again, so I'll take a read through it
I can confirm this issue, and I have CM10 (Android 4.1.2).
When I go to Settings > Storage > Menu: Computer connection, the Mass storage is checked, but if I want to change, the Settings will crash (Unfortunately, the Settings has been stopped.)
If you know any workaround, how to use that, please inform me!
Ps. What about the developer options? Couldn't the USB debugging cause this issue?
Try a newer build and completely delete and reinstall your HTC drivers. USB debugging wouldn't be a problem because that's only used for ADB instead of Mass storage
Edit: you know, the CM thread would be better next time, or even a new thread. We opened up a 4.5 month old thread.

[Q] Can't Unlock a relocked bootloader

I've searched through the forums and I can't find a solution for this. After a long problem the first time I tried to root and flash a rom to my HTC One X, I had to re-lock the bootloader and flash a factory RUU. It's probably your drivers, make sure they're updated. Also make sure you're using a usb 2.0 port. You should also try different ports/cables.

Did that cable ever work for data transmission? Not all cables are created equal, I'd suggest trying another one, one that is known to have good data transmission capability.

YES YES this work for transmission i have another htc desire hd and its ok with this cable,i have another htc one is working with that
Ok, if you don't want to at least try with another cable you don't have to. It's possible that your phone's usb port itself is faulty. Are you using a usb 2.0 port on your PC?

yes is 2.0 i try them to my laptop apple same error again.I will try them with other cable universal again i can not see any different
There might not be any difference, but isn't anything worth a try? I'm only trying to help you. It's standard procedure when having problems like this to try multiple cables, ports, and computers.

No prompt,only just charging
One last thing I can think of is to go into Settings/Power and disable Fast Boot, I'm not sure if it'll be there though, I can't remember if that was introduced on 4.1 or 4.2.2. Otherwise I think the usb port on the device might be faulty.
