battery keeps draining even if it's on the charger - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hi, I have a little problem with my HTC One X.
Sometimes when i charge my phone, the battery level keeps dropping instead of increasing.
I had this with other versions of sense, and andriod too.
I also tried to plug the charger is a diffrent outlet, but that didnt work. And it also happend with other chargers.
Thanks in advance!
android version: 4.2.2
Sense version: 5.0

I too had similar problem with the stock 1amp charger also charging time 20%->100% used to be 4+ hours. but with a Samsung 0.7 amp charger, phone charges even if I'm using it also the charging time dropped to 3hrs.

I'm currently using a 1.0a samsung charger. I thought it came with the galaxy3. That could be the problem?

That might be the problem, don't you have the HTC charger?

I did, but i had the same problem, maby their was something wrong with the charger, ill check this out. It does change correctly with the USB in the pc.

Process of elimination would suggest the charger is the problem then.

If the phone is charging faster via USB than on the wall charger, than the charger is definitely broken. USB is usually much slower than the wall charger.

[Q] nexus s does not charge via ac adapter

Heyo guys, I've got a problem with charging my Nexus S.
When I'm using the ac adapter to charge my phone, but it is always showing in the battery menu "not charging". But if I use the USB cabel to charge it by plug it in the PC, it works.
Only sometimes it works with the charge kit, but I don't know why it does not sometimes.
Also, while it's charging with the adapter, the battery drains.
I hope that I'll get a quick answer

Try another AC adapter for nexus s and then check, may be your one is not working, if if does charge through data cable then one thing is clear that there is something in the adapter
same problems for me...
I have same problem.. the only way I can charge is to turn off phone and then insert power chord. Then phone starts off and charges. but when its already on, the phone does not charge with usb or wall chargers. I have tried multiple of them and I think its slimbeans 4.2.2 issue on nexus S.
Would it be better to go to ICS or other ROMS? or is this hardware problem for sure?
Regards,
Sachin

long charging time

Hi, i know this subject is already exists in here, but it still have no answer. My sensation need 6 - 8 hours to fully charge from 10% to 100%, is there someone can help me to solved my problem?
This happen everyday, so don't ask me to remove the battery and try again because i've tried it.
Are you charging your mobile via a charger connected to a power outlet or are you charging via usb connected to a pc? How old is your battery?
it is a common HTC's issue after rooting the device
everyone has percentage mireadings while charging the device

Has it always been like that or started happening? When mine started doing that I replaced my battery, charging times went back to normal and battery life was a lot better also.
It happens to me with my original battery which I think is dead because it lasts not much time. Buy on my anker battery it charges really fast, with the same charger. So the problem is your battery I think, as on mine

What rom are you using. Sometimes my sense 5 rom misreads ac for usb and charges damn slowly.
Happy to help.
If your charging via usb connected to pc then charging will be half day, its because usb port is for data sending and not charging, so USB outputs very low volt charge and so device like phone charges so slow
If your charging with adapter into AC outlet, you could check if your using right cable(there are data cables where there are little wires inside so again it cannot output that power to the device and there is cables for data+charge with bigger cables inside)
P.S. Stock HTC cable provided is not the best wire....
Mine sensation is charging about 2h40min from discharge(10% - 6%) to full charge(100%)

It's already happened for along time.
When first purchase it is not like that.
I've replace the battery, but not with original one nor anker, and the charging time become faster about 1 hour than before

[Q] Phone charging extremely slow...

Hello!
Recently, my phone has been charging very slowly. When I first got my phone, it went from zero to 100% in ~2.5 hours, but now it takes about 5 hours to fully charge. I am currently using the stock charger and USB cable that came with the phone, and I have tried other cables and chargers to ensure that it wasn't my charger's fault (or my USB cable). I also tried flashing the stock rom and kernel, but the problem was persistent. Could it be a defective battery that is causing this problem?
My current settings:
Mahdi Rom 4.4.3 6/12
Stock kernel settings (no UV, OC)
No partial wakelock problem
Thanks!

Take a look at the charging levels.. While charging via a wall charger it should be between 800-1050 mA.. If it's below that, it's most probably a low standard usb cable or a charger.. Try changing the cable first and check the current.
I'm getting around 600mA so that's not good.. I'll try another charger and see what goes. Thanks!

FYI, I am currently using the stock charger and cable that came with the phone and still getting low mA. I just tried different cables and chargers and the result comes out the same. What else can I do?

Aah.. That's not good. In the OP I see that you have already tried going back to stock and checking the results?
May be you could try a different wall socket in your home? You could also try charging via a computer and see whether it's getting charged properly? (Fast charge needs to be enabled for this)

i charge slow on the stock charger/cable as well. i ended up buying a 5amp charger with two usb holes and a better usb cable, now i charge from 0 to 100 in about an hour and a half.
Thanks for your help, guys! Turns out most of the cables I own are faulty/below standard. I found a cable later that charged my phone at around 800mA. I guess I'll do some cable shopping later

Could it be something to do with custom ROM settings? Stock charger and cable should be able to pull 800-1000mA from a power outlet, I can't understand why some devices wouldn't be able to do so.

No. The only thing that would influence charge speeds is USB fast charge (charges faster on USB, AC still the same) and that's a kernel level feature.

Something that was overlooked was temperature. IIRC at higher temperatures the phone either stops charging or slows down charging in order to keep the heat down. This was done to preserve the life of the battery as charging batteries while they're hot could degrade the battery.

no. ive found in the past(with the n4), the default cable/charger also went bad quick, ended up using a nexus 7 charger/cable on it.

charging time of 8 hours,wtf??

I just put this phone to charge and I see it will charge around 8 hours to full charge. And the charging time is so slow.
Whats wrong with this phone?
I have checked the charger and it's 2A 5V.

Try a different cable / charger
When I purchased the phone I came home, pluged the charger which I got, tested in local cafee it charged then I pluged it home and the charger exploded.I thought I damaged the phone.
So I went to local store guy gave me second charger, and with it's cable phone didn't want to charge. We pluged the old cable and it charged.
What is happening?

You should give all the relevant details in your first post.....
I assume second charger is not original.... if voltage output is not stable enough the kernel lower the charging current until it finds a stable voltage......
Once again , try with a different ( better or original) charger
Do you think current damaged the phone when charger exploded?

Strange problem with battery/charging

Hope someone on here can help, I've had my HTC U11 for about a week no and it was working perfectly fine and i was getting roughly 1.5 day of battery life out of it starting yesterday however it barely lasts 10 hours and the battery is draining really fast. Also the charger that came with it no longer seems to charge it as it Ampere only shows about 20mA as soon as the quick charger connected notification pops up however if i plug any other device into the charger the charger seems to charge it fine also the phone will get charged if i use any other charger and Ampere will show a reading of whatever that charger is currently charging at i have factory reset the phone updated to 1.27 but I cannot figure out what the problem is any help will be much appreciated.

Hi,
Try in order:
1. Change USB cable
2. Use another quick charger 3.0
3. Battery calibration
4. HTC warranty

Thanks im currently charging my phone back up to 100% after completely discharging it using a regular charger (non quick charger) will post battery stats after one full charge cycle.
I have the same problem too. How do you solve this problem? So you buy another Quick Charger 3.0 adapter or wire?

Guys, try to clean you type c port on u11 and on usb cable
Same symptoms with mine... It's a hardware problem ! I sent back my U11 to HTC and they changed the USB Port and the cable to resolve the problem.
