Had my TB for about a month now, everything was great till my 3G decided it didn't want to work. It just died completely out of nowhere. So after googling,I found if I dial ##778#, I can reset my modem and my 3G will come back.
The first time it died I was on Das BAMF 3.0 RC. Dialing ##778# did not work. I just got a FC. So I said screw it and unrooted my phone and flashed the stock froyo ROM back. Used that for a few days and my 3G died again, so I tried ##778# and it worked, I got my 3G back. I figured it was a random bug, so I put a different ROM on - samething happened: no 3G, ##778# doesn't work. Since it died again, and I didn't have access to the menu to reset it, I had to unroot my phone again. So then I rerooted but kept the stock froyo rom on just in case (since I knew I could reset the 3G here). Everything is good so far...
Only problem is, I don't really wanna use the stock rom. Every rom I've tried doesn't seem to have ##778# working... do you all know anyway to access that menu other than dialing? Or a different way to access it on other ROMs? Thanks!
tldr: What ROMs allow me to dial ##778# to fix my phone loosing 3G randomly? Everyone I've tried I get FCs
There is an app called phone info that allows you to do the same thing and should run on any routed Tbolt.

Thanks for the replies, but that's not the menu I need to access... I'd post a link but I can't since I have less than 8 posts. If you google "EPST thunderbolt" and go to images, you'll see what I'm talking about

The fact that you saw that is great, so that's one ROM I can try now woohoo! Thanks!
OK since I've gotten this phone I cannot get data to work on ANY rom based on 2.3.4 or 2.3.5. Everyone says do hard reboot and pull similar out and reboot and this and that and data never appears. See I have a unlocked g2x and I'm not with t mobile so I think the problem is with that, as others on this phone that doesn't have t mobile
Yes I'm 1000000% positive everything is, right, APN settings are correct and all that as 2.3.3 roms always work with the same set up. So no idea why buy it is like that. I really want CM7 or MIUI and this sucks

I do, I stated that in my post. Its not APN related at all.

99% it`s sim card related, get a new sim and try again
Try using an app that backs up and restores APN's.
Its not the sim card. Are yal reading my first post? Everything works 100% correct data wise on 2.3.3 , just not .4 or .5 and I'm not the only one with this problem.

you know I been tried to install EB 2.3.5 and you are right 100% the problem does lie in the version of android but I noticed that when I first flash the ROM it workes good but if I power off or reboot I loose data but not phone. I noticed that I lose my apn settings it is a APN related issue but it is also tied into the rom. When I try to input the values myself to what they should be I press save and it just never appears in the list. I finally got it working last night I rebooted my phone and it did the same thing and the apn dissapeared and no data and so on. So I saw in a different thread about data issues to try a hard reboot and finally someone told me how to do as hard reboot. So I tried that and what do ya know it worked. So now I am running EB ver 1.08 based off CM7 and 2.3.5 and I have data and everything works perfectly. The next time you loose data try holding vol up and power until the phone resets. I hope this helps a little bit.

So I got that you dont loose your apn settings I did read your post but did you tryt the hard reboot? It cant hurt just give it a shot. Sorry if you did already. Also FatalityBoyZahy might be onto something xboarder has a apn fix that works as well. Also when you install the rom do you follow the steps I noticed that doniq says to wipe cache, wipe system, wipe dalvik,format/system. The last step I never saw on any of the other posts for other roms. Maybe it doesnt matter but I noticed that it is different and I didnt do it the first time because I didnt read.
Same issue but fortunately i was able to fix mine by pressing reset to default on the APN menu then enable disable enable again Airplane mode. Using EB 2.3.5 base cm7 source. Hopefully it works for you.
I had the same thing. It worked for a day or two, but then data stopped. Did the hard reboot and it would fix it for a couple hours at best. I finally couldn't take it anymore and went back to 2.3.3. Like you, I tried everything everyone suggested and nothing worked. There were enough people with the problem that it clearly is a real issue, but everything people suggested were just band-aids, not solutions.
When I first got my Infuse 4G, the WiFi showed full strength in my house and the BT would let me roam a good twenty feet from the phone, with both the stock Froyo and after flashing to UCKK4 Gingerbread (rooted). Recently I have been getting only half strength Wifi sitting three feet from the router, and BT crackles and pops unless I hold the phone up to my ear, which kinda defeats the purpose of a hands-free headset. The BT will also repeatedly connect and disconnect if I put the phone in my pocket. Seeing how it worked fine for months after flashing, I don't think it's the ROM doing this, more likely hardware. Any ideas what might be causing this, and/or how I might diagnose it?
Upgrade to UCLB3.

Done (ROM, kernel, and baseband), didn't help. Any other suggestions?
My infuse gave me issues overtime as well. Constant wifi drops, wifi signal would always shut off, and i would get half signal as well. Definitely could very well be an issue with the hardware itself.

Whatever works for me might not work exactly the same for you. Just head on to the infuse super thread sticky in the dev section and just try all the modems there and see which one works best for you and if that doesn't work then it probably is a hardware problem. Hope it turns out well for you.

Yup. When the MitRa Rom was first ported a few of us had trouble with BT untill we changed the APN settings.
Try:
Origionally posted by locust43
create a new APN:
Menu Key, New APN.
Name : AT&T HSPA+
Important step: tap APN and enter exactly : phone
That's it! It's literally just "phone", not kidding. Leave everything else blank including Username and Password!
Scroll down to APN Type, Select Internet only
Hit the Menu Key, and hit SAVE
Your will return to APN settings, go to the APN you just created called AT&T HSPA+, tap the dot next to the APN and make sure it turns green!
__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _____________
Now for the MMS settings
Step 2 : MMS Settings
At the APN settings hit the menu key again and create a new APN, call it MMS
Under APN again just type : phone
go down to MMSC and fill the fields as follows
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type: MMS only

Perhaps I should mention that I'm on StraightTalk...
So, I backed up my existing APNs, deleted them, entered 'phone', and got no data, not even the 'H+' icon. Changed it to 'att.mvno', no data. I added proxy (proxy.mvno.tracfone.com) & port (80) per the Straight Talk web site, no data. Cleared them again, restored my original APNs, still no data. I did reboot between every change. WTF?

Hmm. All I can really think that you could do is use GTG's ultimate unbrick and go back to stock Froyo and check it out again. Did you back up your apns before upgrading to GB? If so, try Froyo with your original apns and if it still does that then it is most likely a hardware problem.

General question about modems:
Can I flash any of them from the ISET onto any ROM? I'm running the 8/11 build of Jelly Bean, but I've noticed on every ROM I've ever ran (stock, MIUI, Zeus, Entropy's CM9, and now JB) Wi-Fi gets really weak. It's my only real problem with this otherwise fantastic device (the modifications have saved me lol)
I really don't know how modems work and are they just CWM flashable? Thanks a lot!

Oooooh thanks for that! Have to manually push it, probably would have ruined the phone altogether if I'd tried flashing.
Now I just need to determine which one...I dunno which one does what, so it's trial and error?
Hey guys,
So for about a month or so now, my signal drops consistently every 5 minutes or so for about 30 seconds at a time. Also, when I get off a call sometimes it will drop right after the call. I was on sky jellybean when this started and I went back to gingerbread to see if I would have the same issue. Still happens! It sucks because my texts always fail and I cannot make calls from time to time and when it says no service I cannot get calls! Should I get a replacement from att? I'm also having issues with my USB port, it will not connect to a PC, it only charges. Also, i noticed when im on LTE, it NEVER drops. Here are some screenshots:
i would start by checking the APN's and reflashing the radio mainly the issue with signal drop is due to a bad radio in somecases there will radios included in roms and some not i always carry all radio with me incase i need to flash,
thats where i would start

Thanks for your reply but like you I have every radio, ICS and GB radios, ATT and tellus radios. I couldn't tell you how many times I've redownloaded and flashed the same radios over and over and still a no-go. Also, my apn's are correct, I've tried many different varieties as well, without any luck, still getting signal drop issues. It wont drop when I'm in a call nor will it drop on lte. So my thought is the internal modem has some type of defect because my phone is in perfect condition besides heavily using it for 10 months now.
Don't want to beat a dead horse but check your apn again. Sounds exactly like a problem I was having.

I had this issue as well on CM10 and Sky Jellybean. Started getting it on CM10, so I switched to building AOKP but I also had this issue on every build I compiled of AOKP and with R4ins' builds. Additionally, com.android.phone would FC whenever I received a call, if it even rang. The phone FC issues were specific to AOKP though. APN settings were fine. I finally switched back to CM10 about a week ago and it seems as though the signal drops have disappeared. I still have no idea what caused any of it. I never flashed a radio separately as it was compiled in my builds already.
*shrugs*
Perhaps even though we full wipe, the phone keeps settings that give us these issues? I wonder if there is a radio and kernel wiping script out there I could flash.
I don't think my apn is wrong, the att lte apn seems to be correct and I've deleted and readded it a couple times, even default restored. Still signal dropping! I'm still on gb since about a week now, and I haven't dropped yet this morning, it's been 2 hours! New record! Haha
apn has nothing to do with "signal" level...apn is related to data , signal is the GSM part ...
Odin at&t official ICS without anything and go from there ...
I'm in a heavy LTE area, so take the following with a grain of salt.
I've been using seanscreamz UCLF6 modem firmware (http://d-h.st/XYa) on a CM10 based ROM with no issues. It differs from mohan_kr's in that installs some extra CSC region files into the system partition. Might want to give it a try. I'd flash it after the ROM in case the ROM install script is set to wipe the system partition, wipe dalvic and cache to be safe, reboot, allow 5min for cache rebuild, fix permissions in ROM Manager, and reboot.

You know, I wanted to do that so bad until I ran into another issue: my PC not recognizing my phone. I plug it in, and it charges but my PC doesn't connect or anything. It's not a faulty USB cord, my old phone was instantly recognized.

Thanks, but my apn was exactly like yours before I reverted to gb! Something is wrong with this device, USB port on the phone itself might be broken, because before my PC didn't say anything upon connection, it would say "device not recognized" on my pc before it started not saying anything
The USB problem may be a driver issue. When the device is connected, go into the device manager and look for unknown devices. If there's an entry in there, unplug the phone and see if the entry disappears. If it does, download this: http://www.mediafire.com/?9qaqkld45387lzi , extract, run the exe, and try plugging in again.
Just a thought.

I can't send text or phone calls after CWM recovery flash.
I initially rooted my i535 sg3 using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840030
I then flashed 4.2.2 Pacman. Used this for a few days and everything was ok but battery life was horrible so I flashed, I think CleanRom, then Liquid RC1. I'm not sure where in the process of flashing but I noticed that my reception was weak compared to stock and then I couldn't send outgoing text or calls all together. I've searched everywhere and I have seen similar issues/symptoms but non of the fixes have worked for me. Here's my current setup.

Have you tried odining back to stock? Somewhere along the way from AOSP back to TW you might have lost/changed some sys data.
Feels like it lost the IMEI, even if it looks correct. Getting stuck on roaming and possibly the weird phone number may mean that's what went wrong.

I was able to Odin back to a stock unrooted 4.0.4 rom but it did not fix the issue. Is there a good way to restore IMEI?
Did you try to reprovision after you used Odin to get back to stock 4.04? A lot of people have had success after doing that, including myself. Be warned, it will completely wipe your phone.

I'm somewhat new to this and have no clue what "Reprovision" does. I found this comment on one post "reprovision your device with dialer code *2767*3855#". When I dialed this it said that when roaming that you have to use an area code and then hangs up? I really hope I don't have to dish out $600 to Verizon! I'm at a loss right not.
You need to enable the hidden menu before you can use the reprovision code. Dial *#22745927 and enable the hidden menu. Now the reprovision code should work. You shouldn't have to hit send at the end of the code. It should work as soon as you enter the last digit. This is assuming you are still on ICS.

I think I found a thread that has solved this for me.
So I don't know if we have the same issue or not. But I got mine working for now. Don't know if I'll run into problems later, but this is how I got it working right now.
First, I installed back to stock settings and radio. I followed the instructions in this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1762709
I did the stuff in section 5. Including Flashing a Stock Radio. So I went back to the VRALG1 4.0.4 ROM.
And I did the I535VRLHE radio.
But it still didn't work. BUT, once in stock settings, I did the reprovisioning.
*2767*3855#
And then that finally worked, it went through, and my phone activated. So it works now. Hooray!
But I REALLY really want to know what happened. So I can avoid this happening again in the future. Can anyone tell me what happened, and why this fixed it? And how to prevent it happening again as a flash more ROMs in the future?
Also, SpecePatriot, let me know if that works for you. It'd be good to have more than one source to know that works.
OMG THANK YOU GUYS!! This thread saved my sanity! I had flashed the latest MIUI 4.1.2 and wasn't a big fan so I flashed my backup and *POOF* no data! I had no clue how it happened (still don't fully understand it), tried every basic "go-to fix" in the book, and scoured the forums for two days without luck. The suggestions in Pozman1's last thread post to flash back to the VRALG1 4.0.4 ROM and the I535VRLHE radio did the trick! The only thing I had to do differently was use the *#7780# Factory Reset Code instead of the *2767*3855# Reprovisioning Code, for whatever reason that code just wouldn't work. Anyway, thanks again!
Thanks!
I spent all last night and most of this morning trying to figure out what was wrong with my phone. I was not connecting to the network and went through the forums searching for the solution to my problem. I odin'ed, flashed, prayed, hoped and then did it all over again all the way back to 4.04. until I landed here.
I was finally ready to give up, so I went to the Verizon site to see if my IMEI was listed and if it matched my phone. Both my phone and my wife's phone were different than the phones we actually have. I got on chat with verizon support and they fixed it right up. I got my 4g back. Now, I'm updating my way back up to the present.
I've been able to solve every problem I've had by lurking/searching these forums. I've been doing this for a couple years now. I really should have registered and started thanking people a long time ago. I have bought apk's off of google play and donated some beer money, but probably not enough. After I post this, I'll take some time and spread the thanks I owe.
I've registered and planted this response here so that if someone else is having the same problem, they might think to go check their account and make sure they've actually got the same phone their carrier thinks they do. Sometimes, it helps to start with the simple stuff.
Thanks to everyone!
