Hello,
I recently did some house (phone) cleaning and dumped a few no longer used apps I had purchased form the market.
I see that while they are no longer installed on the phone, they continue to stay listed in the market download section listed as purchased. Is this normal or is something wrong with the way my phone is working?
If this is normal, is there any way to remove them or at least shift them all to the bottom of the list?
Thanks,
Scott
Using a rooted Droid2 deodexed running the latest 2.3.2
BTW - I've checked the other threads I found on this but never saw a clear answer. Besides, they were old (2009) unless I missed a more resent one.
bump bump bump
I believe its not possible.
this is perfectly normal and actually allows you to reinstall them at any time since well, you paid for them.
There is no way to remove them also from that list, you could ask google support about this they'll be your best bet.
I don't really see a use for this however, if you don't want them installed, then don't.
I am pretty sure I have seen such option in some tool. Unfortunately cannot remember. I will post of I find it

ehh some apps you may not want others to know you have...
when they show up in paid apps it kind of defeats the purpose because they show up there...
You can ask the developer to refund your purchase...
I did a search and could not readily find the answer......
Is Gapps.zip also required with DJ ICS+ V1.0.3 also?
I root and upgraded my Sam Tab 10.1. It required Gapps.zip. Also it also auto downloaded all of the apps from my Marketplace library. On the Skyrocket each apps has to be re-downloaded. Would installing Gapps.zip, if even possible on the Skyrocket, add any missing baseline apps and do the auto download of the library?
TIA,
Rob
Nope you don't need gapps

same thing, google wouldnt restore anything I had unless I was using AOSP or something cm7.
So been using DJ ICS+ V1.0.3 for a while now. The aesthetics are excellent and it appears to be very stable. So I have to say the folks that worked on this did a really good job. However, benchmarking this load shows about a 20% decrease in performance compared to a stock 2.3.5, even when clocked at 1.7Ghz versus the stock 1.5Ghz.
I could be doing something error but the load works very well. Perhaps FauxClock is not working correctly.
The numbers from AnTuTu are:
Stock 2.3.5 - 6053
DJ ICS+ V1.0.3(2.3.6) - 4834
This is apparently not a full ICS build which is fine it has a good look and feel but it is at the expense of some performance.
So before the flames start, I am not complaining. Just merely pointing out some fact for anyone looking to some this or the new to be updates load(rom).
I would have posted this in the development forum but still don't have 10 posts.....
FWIW,
Rob

Your thread would have been deleted if your question had been posted at the development forums. That is why we have Q&A forums. This is the right place to ask you questions.
Please familiarize yourself with the XDA Forum Rules.
Good you didn't have 10 posts to make your question there yet, didn't you
Ok, being part of several forums that rule is certainly not intuitive.
So since this is the correct forum post how about a response?
Seems like the folks creating the ROM would be interested in the feedback and be best to provide some insight. Don't seem to be getting it here.....
Or did I miss the response?
Also, I read the rules and I did not see anything that would suggest that this post in the Developers Forums would have been removed. Do the rules change as the moderators deem fit???????

it has nothing to do with the ROM. it is a Touchwiz based rom and thus you will have the exact same issues as any other touchwiz based rom when it comes to your apps....
I was thinking of installing the gapps for the same reason. Not so much the apps for me, but on my AOSP phones/roms google saved all my wifi passwords that alone is worth checking out because I have a lot that are a pain in the ass to enter on a phone.

Didn't know this. Thanks! I recently fired up my old Nexus S 4G and it was nice that everything just worked, loaded, and connected after I unput my google account info. Every android phone should do this.
Sorry in advance if this has specifically been addressed. Doing a quick search didn't seem to cover it.
Is it possible for the experts here in XDA to write something into Android's code to allow for a Reply All feature in SMS, like in iPhone's SMS? I'm thinking the Reply All feature must be unfixable because there is conversations all over the internet for people requesting Google to fix it. Some have even stayed with Apple because they would miss that feature too much.
And why you're at it, build in emoticons. The emoticons are only available in 3rd party apps, like GoSMS Pro and Handcent, as far as I know.

Addressing the second question here...
Which emoticons are you referring to? You can already use all the regular emotes in an SMS. ;-)
You might want to take a look at alernative keyboards to make your emoticon chatting a little easier (swiftkey has quick buttons for emotes, for example).

This is not the place to request features. if what you are looking for is in gosms, use it. Not to come off as a d*ck but this isnt burger king, they dont have your rom your way right away.
If you were find code that would be usable for this feature, it would be a better way to present your request.
Ranting aside, i believe gosms also has the reply all feature if im not mistaken. Im not sure as i dont have an iphone to compare with. But i do use gosms as my sms replacement.

First off, I'm not requesting anything special in a ROM. My question was that if any of the bright developers have the knowledge to incorporate some of the emoticons into stock mms. Perhaps I should have stated emoji and not emoticons. The ones I'm referring to ARE the ones you find in GoSMS and Handcent, but it would be nice to just use the stock app instead of a 3rd party app to be able to get those. The ones those replying above are referring to basic emoticons (I know, I probably was asking for the wrong things) that can be type in using symbols. I too have been using GoSms and Handcent for the past 2 1/2 years and know that the Reply All feature in GoSMS will respond to all, but send out individual messages, thus breaking the conversation.
Maybe iPhone uses a code that isn't native to Android because I know those 2 platforms steal all they can from each other as it is.

I don't personally because i know well what the devs go through to get a rom out and be proud of it just to hear 'well can you do this?'. The best place would be a specific roms Q/A thread, because if you post in general then lets say optimistically 3 rom developers add the feature for you, you are only going to use one rom, thus 2 of the devs just wasted their time. Also it is far easier to just get an app that does what you want instead of bloating up android with moogly eye faces. Android after all is extremely modular and is all just a collection of apps. so asking to 'build in' is really just modifying an app so you dont have to spend 30secs to download one. like i said, if gosms does what you want, download it. because being that bloaty isnt for everyone so its easier to just leave it stock and let users download what they want to add to their phones.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=524
might also work better since you are looking for features that would not be phone specific.

Thanks for the link. I'll post my Reply All question over there and see if I get any responses.
Zikk is unique mobile to mobile remote support app.
So what's so special about Zikk?
It is designed for consumers and not for IT depatments and operators,
therefore it is extremely simple and user friendly.
It provides full privacy protection - no screen sharing, and no access to SMS, email, etc.
It doesn't require constant internet access, and doesn't prevent the recipient from using his
phone for other purposes during the process.
It supports all Android devices (2.2 and above).
In addition to remote support, Zikk contains a local settings menu which uses Zikk's simple
and friendly interface.
When people have a hard time setting up their smartphones, they ask help from their friends
and family - Zikk enables users to help each other.
APK attached. Also available on Google-Play (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zikk.alpha)
where you will also find a short and helpful demo video. You van also find the video on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsP9-Lpfwpk).
So both people need Zikk installed, I presume? Does the person you are helping get prompted to download it?

Correct. If the selected contact does not have the app, the user will be asked to allow sending
an automatic SMS with a link to the download page. There is also a share option where you can
send this message (via SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook, etc.) to one or more people.

The current version is designed for Android phones does not support WiFi-only tablets or
large screen tablets, however in a few weeks I will publish the tablet version, which will
include UI adjustments, tablet related features and a different registration process.
Sounds AMAZING! I'd really like to use this to help my friends and family. I live in India though
No worries, I'll wait
fantastic idea!!! this will surely take off!! kudos to the OP!!
how far this app will go ? I mean can I help someone from anywhere ?
What about phone types? What if my phone is a Nexus and the other device is a HTC?

Actually a version for rooted users is an interesting idea. Not sure how common "less tech savvy"
rooted users are though. If you have more ideas for features for rooted users I would love to hear them.
I actually have a friend who is just getting into root use who calls for advice when he needs it. Let's be honest we were all beginners once and maybe could have used a little hand. He moved recently so there is distance involved now. This looks like a great idea.
I would love to have access to the settings menus, root file explorer and perhaps apps he already has installed such as set CPU or apps of that nature.
Beginners in root use are just as confused by root abilities as beginners in android are of it's stock features at times.
It would be really great to be able to start a log cat app and have your friend do something that normally causes a crash for example if they are not advanced enough to run one themselves. A current issue I have on hand. Trying to explain how to run one and sending videos to watch.
Hope this keeps going

Hello,
I'm not associated with the developer of this app, but found this rare gem at reddit.
I was looking for a Tapatalk alternative over the last years, since Tapatalk is getting more and more advertisements (even the paid version) and it was criticized because of data leaks and a very bad privacy policy. The developers of Tapatalk don't listen to suggestions and make the app even worse, from one to the next update.
TrendStation is a Feed Player, which allows you to read RSS feeds, listen to podcasts or, which is my favourite feature of the app:
to browse any forum that uses the Tapatalk API.
I'm blown away by the simplicity of this app and the forum module, which is a lightweight alternative to Tapatalk itself. Forums can be added by adding the link of the corresponding forum.
There is no cloud service behind and the login data is not shared, everything stays local.
Since the app is really great made and the developer fixed bugs immediately when I wrote him, I'd like other users that look for a Tapatalk alternative to know about this app.
They removed ads immediately, when I asked them to do so. They'll add a donate entry at the app settings.
Google Play Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.nt.ai
Website of the developer: http://limbostudio.html-5.me/?i=1
E-Mail of the developer: [email protected]
I'd like to share this app with you, because it replaced Tapatalk completely for me.
Please leave your feedback, I want to support the developer with it.
I installed this, looking for something better than TapaTalk that I only use for one forum. It will not add the forums, stating that I have the wrong URL (I know I do not) or forums do not use the Tapatalk API.
It is SNB Forums www.snbforums.com and tried www.snbforums.com/forums and it just does not work. I know they use the Tapatalk API because I can access those forums with Tapatalk.

You can browse them with no log in. I just set at the add forum screen and get the toast stating wrong URL or does not use tapatalk api. Can't even get to the url.
Thanks for the feedback.
I talked to the developer, there seems to be a problem with a few forums using the Tapatalk API (Probably because of Cloudflare).

Yes Cloudflare hosts SNB Forums.
I got following answer from the developer, regarding the problem that some forums cannot be added (Tapatalk API not in use error):

Hi,
Its seems as if The CloudFlares DDos protection is tampering with the access of the link. The site admins have not whitelisted the Tapatalk API and since these websites have migrated into Tapatalk itself, it explains why you could use these forums in The Tapatalk Application.

IMNSHO that is very bad advise to disable https. With all the hacking / privacy issues on the Internet, more security is essential. not less.
That would be a short term fix at best. If that was necessary, then that alone will keep me from using (or trying to use) TrendStation.
