I just got my Nexus 5 in the mail and have some questions about its screen
First, what's the material used for the screen?
Second, is anyone having some serious yeloow hue going on with their screens????
I own both the Z1 and the N5 now and will decide to sell one off in the near future. The Z1 was notorious for their yellow hue screen and comparing the N5 side to side with the Z1 the N5 is even worse when it comes to the yellow hue. Can anyone else confirm?
Want to post a side by side comparison pic but the only cameras I own are on the phones haha

Do a search on the forum, there are a number of threads about the yellow tint. Some N5s have it, some don't.

Finally got around to taking a photo with my friend's 5S
On the left is the N5 and Z1 on the right.
The yellow hue is definately more noticable when viewing screens with slight hints of blue
The comparison of both white screens came out decent in the photo with slight yellow on the N5 but in person it's much worse. (keep in mind my Z1 already has a yellow hue problem)
Definately feel like my N5 has serious screen issues I will contact Google and see what they have to say

Yes, it's very difficult to photograph the issue because the device used to make the photos has its own impact. I've found that you can take whatever the photo shows and multiply it by a few times to get a real indication of the difference.

Hello all, i have myself an 02 XDA Exec, but during the light of a soft reset
the screen is now working with fault
it looks like there is some sort of high contrast or the in could be bleading on the inside, but the touch feature works, will display pictures
Notice how the screen has different shades, but also patches in the corners of the screen, as ive mentioned the touch sensetivity works fine but the screen looks to be a bit pixelated and and in a different sort of contrast (i am currently reading up on the dis-assembly of it so if its something internal please say something about it)
and no i havnt banged it, smashed it, tried beating it up etc, i honestly dont know whats happened to it.

this is my today screen after a hard reset, basic windows mobile default, look at the different tones of colouring, the sort of slashes across the screen and the shades in the corner of the screen, and im not sure why, although i dont think it really can be ink bleading as when the phone is turned off the screen is as it should be, just off.
Now i will try out the camera on both sides, from the phone and from my camera
Camera's Side
Notice how the screen is in a sort of negative/contrasted style, not one im enjoying thats for sure, but coming from the phone the results are different
Exec Camera
notice how the camera still processes the image properly
which leads me to believe something is wrong with the screen
maybe some part of the frame is being pressed against it or something like that
i will be monitoring this thread closely and please help
With Many Thanks
Exemike
Does it have this pink tint in reality too? (not only on the shots?)
If it does (and a hard reset doesn't help), then, one of the color transfer wires may be dead or have "only" developed a contact error (or, plainly, they have just been removed from their socket. This happened a lot with other models.)
That is, I'm pretty much sure it's a cheaply fixable problem. Try disassembling your casing and try to rearrange the wires.
pink/purple tint, but the screen apears in perfect shape
any guides on getting into the screen,
thanks very much.

there are several; see the "smashed my Universal screen" threads; some of them link in the official HTC disassembling guides
I want to get this phone, but I've been hearing of uneven screens on the net. People have been saying the bottom of their screens are popping up. has this happened to anyone?
and also, in this picture,

Is the fact that you can see the light from the bottom of the screen mean that the screen is uneven?

some people have this issue but im not sure if its as severe as in the image...
but mine seems to have a perfect screen
I think I'm having this issue.. where have you read about this?
I'm not sure about this problem, but I noticed that mostly users with Desire S from Asia have the screen popping issue. UK Desires seem to be fine.
From Asia here but no problem with the screen. I think it's random.
No screen mounting issues here on german Desire S.
On the picture it's a reflection on the metal edge.
Hi my first post on XDA but have been skulking about.
I'm in the UK and have had my DS 3 full days perfect no floors and set up with current OS and skinned.
Though day 4 bottom corners lifting by Home and Search keys and also have the smallest gap between unibody and screen near Volume rocker and touch keys, the gap is enough to see back light coming through in the dark/dusk.
Hope this helps i have a new replacement coming first thing tomorrow will report on that with any news.
Ok so brand new replacement handset and i still have these issues the bottom right corner is already showing that it's raised in comparison to the bottom left corner and there is still a visible gap on the left of the screen can see the charge port through this and light still shining through in the right light.
Looks like bad quality control from HTC will be contacting orange in a mo as i'm still in my cooling off period. I am really disappointed Android OS is great for the customisation but this handset seem's to have been rushed in the build quality.
Hope this helps.
I have a friend with this issue.Mine it's ok.
Greece.
Duplicate post sorry.
I've noticed that when using my Skyrocket camera indoors, especially during the day, that there seems to be a slightly reddish hue around the center of the photo. This is noticeable in the display while I'm viewing the scene, and in the final photo. I am using auto white balance. I also notice that when I view a scene under incandescent lights using auto or incandescent w/b, the center has a greenish tint while the surrounding area is slightly reddish.
The following photo of the off white wall was taken in the early afternoon with ambient daylight. I was wondering if others with a Skyrocket have noticed the same thing. I just want to try to figure out if this is a normal condition with this phone before I go back to the AT&T store to demand an exchange. Thanks.

That wasn't Kool-Aid, that was wine. Lol.
After doing some experimentation, I have discovered that the light pollution from my LCD TV and my PC monitor in a room with ambient daylight seems to be the culprit here. I am somewhat of a photography buff and understand the effect of different types of light on digital photography, so I tried turning my monitor and TV off, and the reddish tint disappeared. My real cameras don't have this problem, but I guess the camera on this phone isn't quite up to the task of properly adjusting to different light sources at the same time. Anyway, I'll just have to be aware of this whenever I take photos indoors.
I'm still interested in hearing about your results, though. Thanks.
Oops, spoke too soon. I tried it again this morning and got the same red splotch. Maybe the lighting was different earlier. Anyway, I did some more searching leaving "Skyrocket" out and came up with several threads about this in the Galaxy S2, and other forums. Seems to be a common problem with the white balance in a lot of phone cameras, so I guess I'll just live with it.
reddish hue in middle of scene in camera
Sorry to bring up an old post, but I recently purchsed this S2 Skyrocket and have seen the same issues. I was about to call AT&T for an exchange, but could I be safe to say, i just need to adjust white balance?
There has been no other replies so either you and I are the only ones and need an exchange or others are just not replying.
Hope others can chime in.
Thanks!
Hey guys, I got Galaxy S7 few days ago and I noticed somewhat strange white shadow/outline under black (most prominent with bold) text on white or gray background (can be easily seen in Messenger).
I wasn't able to Google anything similar so I'm wondering if it's just me or what.
Here are two examples:

and
It's more noticeable when normally looking at screen, but I wasn't able to capture it with my S3 Neo, so I had to zoom.
Sorry for posting images like that but I can't use links yet.
Hi,
as I mentioned in PM, I have the same problem. It is visible bellow dark/white edges. Partial circumvention is to lower the resolution, which unsharpens these edges. Simple way to replicate this with the attached image. Are we really the only two with this problems or the other S7 owners didn`t notice/don`t mind this? I`ve seen another S7 in a shop which has the same problem. All in the Czech Republic (if I guess correctly based on the images above).
Thanks for any information.

One more info on what is going on - a detailed photo. For some reason are red and blue pixels on the edge more bright than they should be.
I don`t know if anyone is reading this, but I start thinking that I have some super sensitive eyes. I saw four S7s and three definitely had this problem. I am not sure about the last one since I didn`t have enough time to test it.. I also found this article http://phandroid.com/2017/05/03/samsung-galaxy-s8-tips-tricks/ with photos of S8 and this (d)effect is visible also there. I took a look on my wifes S3 and it is OK. The display simple looks better - well the resolution is lower, but no weird effects and the colors are not shifted to red like on my S7 (I haven`t noticed before, every display has little bit different colors). On the other hand this thread is the only one notice I was able to find about it. I don`t know how differently ask google, so native speakers - how would you call this (d)effect? I cannot believe that there are only two people dealing with this.
I`ll see what Samsung service says to this.
Btw - I remember something similar on really old (like previous century) LCDs but the other way round - the light leaked from bright pixels to dark ones, if they ware next to each other.
I`ll be happy for any related information.
Thank you.

hi, i need help could the owners of the silver pixel 7 pro have a look into the slot of the loudspeaker for calls? because normally it will go crazy, do you have the entire filling in black or are there silver gaps as in the picture? I was looking for many videos from disassembling pixels as it should be and I got stupid. I am sending pictures of what I mean, you have to look at the right angle Thanks in advance for your response

Mine is all black, no "gaps".
So I thought that my Pixel is unique and now the question arises in connection with this factory "flower" will this loss of seals, fillings somehow affect the operation of the phone, e.g. water resistance? Report it under warranty?
Mine has the same effect as your speaker grill, but the darker lines are equal distances from the front camera punch out. Too even to be dirt or anything that would accumulate in a random manner. I wouldn't worry about it, personally.
If you're worries about the ip rating maintaining, use this app from time to time to make sure it's still good: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ray.waterresistancetester
I feel like you might have a hard time getting google to replace your phone for that. Might not hurt to at least inquire so you can have it documented that you reached out previously in the unlikely event that it causes issues. Good luck friend!

I fixed this tiny defect in my own way, using a marker that we use at work and a piece of paper, I painted the inside black a bit tedious job because you had to dot by dot at points but finally now it looks like God commanded. Before the procedure, I checked the tightness using the application, thanks a lot, I didn't even know such a thing existed.
I respect the dedication and it looks good! I love that app. I use it to make sure the seals are good from time to time and it gives good peace of mind.
I have no gaps but the sound is ok.
Maybe Google is experimenting with real buyers and one of them appears in the p8p...
