Does anyone know of a widget that can toggle the lock screen pattern on or off? I tried this one called Fantasy LockScreen which doesn't work on Froyo 2.2.
Code:
market.android.com/details?id=com.curvefish.widgets.fantasylockscreen
try widgetsoid, it has a toggle for pattern lock along with many others.

I have Widgetsoid and the pattern lock widget doesn't do what I want.
Basically I'd like something like an auto-rotate on/off setting but for the lock screen pattern. So, if I'm at home, I'd toggle the lock pattern off and toggle it back on when I go out (as long as I remember).
i think extended controls in the market does this....i've never used it but the option is there to enable and disable the lockscreen pattern
Thanks planedoc, I tried Extended Controls but the lockscreen pattern widget doesn't work in 2.2. Google disabled access to toggling that option in the Froyo update.
'No Lock' works with Froyo - it simply overrides the screen lock.
Or DelayedLock is under development - it overrides the screen lock for a predefined time interval.
DelayedLock does allow 2.2 users to override the lock screen pattern/password, although it does bother me that now every button on my phone will wake it up leaving it prone to accidental pocket presses.
There also doesn't seem to be a way to retain the slide to unlock, but only disable the pattern/pass lock from what the dev said.
The app's built-in simple slide lock feature is nice, but not very attractive coming from the Sense UI screen slide lock. I posted suggestions in the dev's original post about DelayedLock.
I actually found another app called "Extend Lock Time" (for Sense only?) which allows you to specify a longer screen pattern/password timeout in seconds. It's very simplistic - could use a UI update to make changing values easier - but will work for now.
I have been using lockpattern onoff which i got from the market. Im using it on cm7 om my nexus and works great for me. I dont know if this is what u were looking for or not. It should work on 2.2 cuz i was using with rods miui rom and worked for me.
LockPattern OnOff doesn't seem to work with the stock Sense ROM (UK version) on 2.2 for now... hopefully someone will find a way around it.
Are you still envy of the brilliant lock screen of Android 3.0? Now, as long as your phone is Android system, you will be able to experience the beauty of the lock screen. Only use one button, you can choose to use this ripple lock screen or system default screen.
Drag the inside circle to the outside circle can unlock screen.
hope u will like it~~
it does exactly what it says and looks great doing it. i dont like the whole points system tho. otherwide i give this app 9 out of 10. good job.

Just download it, open a file explorer, go to it's download location (wherever you downloaded it to) and click on it. Also remember to allow installation of non-market apps in the settings. Another way would to just search for it on the market. Market link - (Free) - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nanoha.MyLockScreen_free&feature=search_result ; (Paid) - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nanoha.MyLockScreen&feature=search_result .
This is pretty smooth,
One thing I thought was odd was that in your setup you have an Ad. While not odd in itself, you need to make money somehow. The ad was in Chinese, or Japanese, or some other symbol language.
I'd probably be more inclined to click an ad I could read, just a heads up.

Nice lock screen app, but the short cut settings are very unstable. Sometimes they work, most times they don't...
Like This . Thank You .
Tested the free version an view minutes and bought the app. Great look screen!
I like it but the use of a lockscreen is destroyed when just a home button exits the lock.
Great job dev!

Hey dev, I have a small glitch. Using the ripple lock and the phone was in sleep mode my alarm went off. I had no way of turning the alarm off. Nothing popped up giving me the option to turn the alarm off. The phone woke up locked but that was it. I was using the stock alarm if that matters.
Thanks.

Is there a way to disable the volume buttons? Right now when the volume buttons are pushed the screen turns on and makes a beep sound
i really love ripplelock, but i have one problem:
if i put my phone in airplanemode at night (to save some battery) and turn off airplanemode at the next morning, usualy the PIN-input-screen pops up. But if i install ripple lock, the PIN-input-screen doesnt pop up, regardless of the chosen double-lockscreen method. only while system security lock is enabled, the PIN-input-screen pops up, but this way i get an double lockscreen.
The only version, which works properly for me without this issue is v2.2, evrey other version above 2.2 has the descriped bug. Thats why i stick with this version and hope this issue will be fixed soon.
(Also I would love to see that the home-button doesnt unlock anymore, while the status-bar is hidden (one of two main reasons, why i use ripple lock instead of the modded system lockscreen, which looks nearly the same except for the visible status-bar and that the lock icon functions only as a slider).)
BTW: I'm on an rooted Desire HD with cm7
Pretty cool app. Slight bugs:
1st time I had a notification written in Chinese or something. Then came up in English after I got through that one. Maybe or maybe not a bug; maybe you could ask the user 1st time setup which language to use.
2nd bug is that I came out of standby and was at the homescreen and then the lockscreen loaded up a second or two later. Maybe it's my midrange phone (Galaxy Ace) causing it to be a bit laggy.
Otherwise pretty awesome app.
I love the look of honeycomb especially the lockscreen. I've been using Ripple Lock for about 3 weeks now. So far so good. Thank you Dev!
full screen (no status or nav bar) hasn't been happening for me. is there a way to enable it?
I believe it requires an app to request it so you'll have to wait until apps get updated with the functionality.
Ah ok. strange there's so much talk about this feature on sites and from Google yet it's not actually really in use. most of these tech sites write about phones they haven't even used.
Techradar guys have been able to use it in Google Reader app according to their early hands on review. Give it a go and see how it works there before support from other apps arrives.
I think this is a feature that most probably can be applied to all apps in a simple way by a Xposed module (similar like App settings module). Be patient, something like that will come.

Xposed+gravity box allows you to enable and disable immersive mode anytime you wish
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Not right. With Gravitybox, you can enable Expanded Desktop which is of course nice (and used by me), but Immersive Mode is different: In ED you just can toggle it on/off (hide/unhide navbar/statusbar permanently), while in Kitkat's IM I you can, while the bars are hidden, swipe from the screen edge to show them.

Some apps have immersive mode built in, otherwise I believe you can't get it WITHOUT flashing a custom ROM.
Cataclysm ROM works, and has a quick toggle for it if you're wondering. And plenty others.

Try this -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557697
Xposed is required
Anyway full Immersive Mode is suboptimal. One wants to see the statusbar for quick informations. So Gravitybox's solution where you can only hide the navbar is best.

I am new to Xposed so I can not give any indication on the history, but I can confirm that I can get the following options for Expanded desktop mode in the latest version of GravityBox for KitKat:
Disabled
Hide navigation bar
Immersive status bar
Immersive navigation bar
Semi-immersive
Immersive
The settings are in the "Display tweaks" menu. Once activated, you can turn the effect on and off via the power menu (found by holding down the power button on your phone for a second or two). GravityBox's Immersive Mode works the same as KitKat's IM and from what I can tell it works very well indeed. It will hide the nav bar and status bar and give applications that extra screen real estate to use. A swipe from the top of the screen will temporarily show the navbar and status bar.
I am running GravityBox [KK] [2.9.6] on my Nexus 5.
You can enable immersive mode without root using GMD Full Screen Immersive Mode

Hi Guys, I'm a long time android user, but this is my first pure AOSP, I've been on various CM roms for quite a while.
I was pretty surprised to see that I can't find a custom quick settings option (ie change how the quick settings buttons work)....
- Why would you ever have bluetooth and wifi tiles launch settings menus, rather than just toggle bluetooth / wifi on/off - really silly default option..
- would love to be able to add a torch, screen timeout & screen rotation lock tiles...
My question, is there any way to get this sort of functionality without going to a custom rom - still using the quick tiles? or is it just a matter of me not being so impatient and waiting for CM or similar to be released..
Love the idea of being able to get OTA updates.. and really to be honest, the only thing I am really missing from CM is the ability to modify the quick tiles..

Awesome, thanks, at least makes bluetooth and wifi toggles more practical..
So I take it that adding extra tiles (ie say screen rotation for example) , is not an option in AOSP?

Not that I remember, it's an added feature to ROMs.
It's good to know I am not the only one feeling this one.
I was a bit shocked to see how little options there are for customization in the stock rom.
I guess I am spoiled by CyanogenMod....

If you want rotation lock in quick settings you have to modify SystemUI.apk and framework2.jar. If you were using stock you'd have to modify those, but using AOSP means you can just change a few lines of code and recompile.
If you want to know the exact parts to modify let me know.

Root and Xposed Framework
I had the same frustration as you. Root your Nexus, Download Xposed framework the Gravity Box for KitKat module and you can add toggles and change other stuff if you want. Its perfect for customizing your stock os.
Id recommend make a nandroid backup and save it. I dont know if it effects your phone when you get an OTA update. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALL THIS I love my Nexus now
This is an unofficial directory for issues/features that we want to see fixed/added via ROMS or software updates. Simply post a request, and if it is appropriate and acceptable it will be added into the directory. This post serves as a place where DEVS can find an issue or feature and can... well... fix it! I plan for most of these to be at least partially exclusive to sense 6 and or the Verizon HTC m8. I will update the directory nightly
GUIDELINES*The issue must be something that more than one person can relate to.
*The issue cannot pertain to another app. I.E. if an app is crashing too much.
*K.I.S.S Keep it simple stupid.
*Look before you post! I will update the directory and see if it's there. This will save us both some time
*Lastly off-topic posts or typo requests won't bother me the slightest, but just know your boundaries
*Please refrain from things that are basic in custom ROMS . These include but are not limited to navigation bar tweaks, and system ui visual changes
If you see a user post an issue that you know a fix for, give him a hand

Solutions
Please remember general UI tweaks can easily be edited with many xposed modules or ROM baked controls
✓ Allow the wake gestures to be used when the device is laying down
Calibrate G sensor poorly intentionally.
✓ Remove unnecessary wifi notifications "wifi network available"
Option in WiFi settings and flashable zip.
✓ Native wifi tethering
Custom ROMS.
✓ Full control over notification bar icons. Nfc, boom sound, etc.
Gravity box, sense 6 toolbox, or viper control.
1/2 Separate lockscreen shortcuts and dock shortcuts
Lock screen shortcuts are based on the sense launcher dock. Using a different launcher allows control between the two.
✓ Custom status bar toggles
Now in stock ROM as well as most custom roms.
*In the quick toggles tiles, make the brightness toggle open a traditional slider
*Remove that friggin 4gLTE icon when wifi is on
*Custom actions for motion launch gestures
*Don't auto wake screen on call end
*Quick toggle/widget for toggling motion launch gestures
*Email widget for stock sense email app
*Charging images for navigation bar
*Modded launcher with customizations such as grid size
*Enable individual motion launch gestures
*More than 10 alarms
*Customization over dot case notifications (may take some adv coding skillz)
*App ops standardized
*Remove 10 incorrect password attempt data wipe.
*More options for auto device sleep/lock
*More sense features ported or modified for aosp use. (This one is a toughie)

This is getting annoying for me. The double tap to wake and the slide up to unlock is an amazing feature. But it's almost worthless if we can't use it when the phone is laying down. My phone is on my desk at work most of the day, and it would be great if I could just double tap to see what notification just came in.
I think it has to do with the g-sensor. When I first turned the phone on, the pop up menu said that the unlock gestures only work when the screen is being held in portrait mode. So I'm thinking that when it's laying down, the phone doesn't know exactly what orientation it should be in. I've found that even holding the phone upright just a touch allows the gestures to work fine.
Changing shortcuts of the gestures while the screen is off? For instance, swipe left while screen is off launches 'X' app...
Unlocked wireless tether. Get rid of the various wifi notifications. LED torch quick toggle.

When on a call, press power button to turn screen off, when call ends the screen turns back on by itself. Why? Idk but very annoying, only HTC phones do this!
If someone can tweak it to where when in a call the user manually presses the power button to turn screen off, the screen stays off even when the caller or whoever hangs up.
A feature that would be great for me is a quick toggle/widget to toggle the motion launch gestures. I have to go through all the settings menus every time I want to toggle it (which is only when I'm at work). When at work, my phone stays in my pocket, and I am moving around a lot, so sometimes my thigh will unlock the phone and open apps, along with draining my battery.
Changing images for navigation bar.

U WOT M8?
Just pointing out a few things:
1. As far as the WiFi notification, you can get rid of this by going to Settings > Wi-Fi > Advanced, and de-selecting the "Notify me" option. This is what I did on my previous phone (M7) and my M8, and since de-selecting that box, I've never seen the WiFi notification pop up.
2. The Wake Gestures actually can be used when the phone is laying down. This also annoyed me to no end initially, until I saw someone post that you can just move your phone slightly to make the wake gestures work. I'm assuming this works because it trips the internal movement sensor, which then makes the phone think that it's been picked up. The movement doesn't even have to be vertical; I just slightly move my phone to the side a bit, and it's enough to make the wake gestures work for me.
Email Widget for the native Sense email app...i cannot BELIEVE this was left out by HTC/VZW/whoever...WTF!
I'd like to be able to adjust the grid size of the home screens, 4 across is too spaced out, I like it lining up with 4 icons and app drawer icon at the bottom.
Also, as mentioned in another post, I'd like to be able to customize the keys next to the home key, i.e. move the back key to the right and replace the multitask key with the menu key etc.
ability to hide the standard soft buttons and replace them with LMT style popup buttons.
Ability to toggle individual gestures on and off. I'd like to have double tap to wake, but turn off swipe to wake. I end up waking the device with a swype simply by pulling it out of my pocket which I don't want.
Toggle automatic factory reset on 10 bad unlock attempts on and off or set the number of failed attempts to an arbitrary number.
Able to remove ANY of the always on notificatios. Alarm, keyboard, hearing aid boost, nfc, etc

I love the "knock on" feature, tho I agree, it would be very nice if it worked even when the phone is laying flat. But why is there no "knock off"? Don't they kinda go hand in hand?
Ability to have more than 10 alarms

Slide finger across statusbar to control brightness like Gravitybox (enabling in Gravitybox does not work on our devices).
Ability to display notifications from more than the stock HTC apps when using the Dot Matrix case.

I have found that tapping the screen 3 times (instead of 2) will usually wake the screen while it is laying on a desk. Just use a little bit of force on the first tap... It seems like an accelerometer needs to detect motion before the screen digitizer wakes up.
This would still be a nice feature request, though I have a feeling it won't be possible without having a significant effect on battery life.
