You can extract the recovery.img file from the zip and use the Android Flasher app. This will only work if you have S-OFF or an unlocked HBOOT.

What to select in flasher options? Recovery? To be more specific, i want to root my phone, can you tell me step by step pls?
I've probably misunderstood this but if you're looking to root then why not just use gingerbreak?

It wont work on my phone (2.3.5), i tried everything, zergrush, super oneclick, gingerbreak, infinite loop and nothing, so, i think the only option for me is to root with zip file, but i dont want to install clockwork mod recovery, and my question is how to instal zip from my sd card with some other tool?
Can i flash this from Android Flasher and how?

That is just an alternative to ClockworkMod recovery. Also I misunderstood your original question about the su-3.0 zip file.
You need to flash that type of zip file using a custom recovery such as CWM or EXT4. The Android Flasher is for flashing image files to a device, not zip files.
As said above, you need s off or unlocked hboot (via htcdev) to flash the recovery.img (out of clockwork mod or 4ext zip file) using android flasher.
Then boot into recovery and install zip from sd card and select the SU zip file, once installed you have superuser and are rooted
Hello! When I first root my phone, can I flash the twrp recovery img file and not the cwm?

yes actually TWRP is better in some cases than CWM
if you want you can use hasoon2000's toolkit to help you with your root proccess
here are the steps for rooting your device:
1.unlock bootloader through htcdev
2.flash custom recovery image ( fastboot flash recovery "name of image".img)
3.flash the SuperSU ZIP file using the recovery (The SuperSU ZIP is included in the toolkit i mensioned above)
Note:you need the toolkit to get the superSU ZIP file
if you are using the toolkit so click on Perm Root

Hi just a quick question it says in the instruction that I shouldn't use .zip file link to the instruction: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773659, how can I install this recovery-skyrocket-6037.zip?
Here is the link for the tut that I follow: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1759541&highlight=how+to
You can only flash the zip in a custom recovery. If you don't have a custom recovery you need to install it with Odin. You'll need a .tar.md5 recovery file to flash in Odin.

The instruction says to use this version of recovery-skyrocket-6037.zip the only problem is that it is in .zip format, does this recovery has a version of .tar.md5? Or an alternative recovery file that I can install using Odin to install the kikat custom rom? Thanks for the reply and help.

Use this in odin ] This will install twrp custom recovery. Once installed then flash (install) your recovery zip in it.
The recovery.tar.zip needs to be extracted with 7-zip.
EDIT, I edit this post to remove the the dev host link. DO NOT use the dev host file. Use the.tar.zip

My phone is Galaxy A8 !
I just found some way root my phone with simple kernel.
And it does'nt have any custom roms or Recovery to flash zip file.
I just try to flash with Flash Gordon, Rom Manager, Zip installer, Flashify...... and .....
But it can't flash zip without recovery.
I make this topic hope someone can help me find out some way.

Use flashfire.apk
If it's a Samsung you should be able to use Odin

I renamed built.prop and then tried to reboot my phone, but im stuck im bootloop.
Is there a way to flash the correct built.prop file back ?
First of all, why to rename build.prop? Then, just restore any nandroid backup you may have. If you dont then reflash your rom.
If you have a custom recovery you can make a flashable zip that allow you to restore your original build.prop. If not check if there's a recovery tool for your phone, if your phone is MTK you can use SP flash tool. :good:
I have stock recovery, but there is a option to flash zip from sd card.
Yes in stock recovery there's an option to flash a zip but you can't flash a custom zip, only an official zip

Thank you for your answer.
Yes but remember that also if you flash the custom recovery you need your original build.prop
