Will they ever fix this issue? The camera is so unbearably slow. It's crazy. Coming from the HTC One, it's light years better.

What do you mean slow? Like.. HDR+? Well, it does make more photos, and selects the best one, which takes time. Turn HDR off.
The camera is super slow taking pictures. I came from a GS3 that was running CM10.2 and the camera was lightning fast taking pictures of my infant son. Now all the pictures I take a super blurry and the video is just a constant auto focus fest.

The Nexus 5 camera is not even close to Samsung GS3 and GS4's cameras. From drama shot to taking pictures really fast, the Samsung cameras are net superior.
Do you have HDR on?

I agree with you they are not in the same class, I'm just referring to the speed at taking pictures. Ill try to find an example and post it.
No I do not have HDR or HDR+ on.

I completely agree, neither is great but the N5 is much slower at snapping pictures than what I am use to. I would put it on par with my wife's iPhone 4.
On a side note this is why I have a Sony NEX-5R

Yeah, Nexus phones aren't exactly known for their cameras. The purpose of these phones is mainly Development. The fact that it's an affordable high end phone is a side effect.

I think he means in regards to noise. I have noticed it my self as well but it is negligible in my opinion as I like the faster focus and shutter speed from before makes it possible to get a lot of pictures I missed.

I feel like the overall speed has increased, but the focus is terrible. Under slightly low light situations, the camera just doesn't feel like focusing properly. Also there are a lot of noise in the photos taken. Also auto-flash isn't working properly. There are situations where you would have expected flash to kick on but it doesn't; leading to horribly dark photos.
My Note 2 had a much better camera...

extremely low light condition this morning(without a flash).. are you sure that its just you not knowing how to use a camera properly? it a bit more than just point and shoot. btw, autofocus is overrated, learn to focus yourself.

I assure you, it's not user error. I'm taking pictures exactly like how I took them when I had a Nexus S, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2.
When I take test pictures in my room when it's a bit dark, the camera focus just doesn't work and keeps returning RED focus circle.
My other problem is the auto flash. Trying to take pictures of a piece of paper with writing on it in the dark, the camera won't utilize flash; hence it doesn't focus because it just looks dim and the flash support light doesn't light up the text so camera doesn't know to focus on the text. Manually turning on flash makes it somewhat better.
When in optimal lighting situations, the camera works fine. Issues are with auto focus/flash in dim/dark situations
--------- ACTUALLY I think I found my issue.
It's my case. Spigen Slim Armor. The camera area protrudes and I guess it affects light sensors, thus messing with the focus. I took my case off and was able to have it work appropriately.
Love my camera on my phone and the sheer number of photos I take proves it. From time to time I have seen advertisement for smartphone "Zoom Lenses" and i was wondering if anyone had any or had any recommendations for them or even against them.
I'm sure you all know what I mean but i'm referring to this.

If you are actually going to BUY a lens for your phone... Spend the money and get a real camera.
you use cam phone because it's portable and you can pull it out for a quick shot... once you put a lens... you lose both. + you end up looking like an idiot when you missed the shot.

Have a real camera, it's at home. This i can throw in my backpack. i'm obviously not going to use it for rush shots, but things like the view from my office etc. Besides 40 dollars for the zoom, 1400 (give or take) for a good DSLR.
Right, and my 6d, which was 2000 takes much better pictures then s5. But who am I to say anything I buy anything that I find mildly interesting.

If it works a a regular telephoto and not a zoom lens you will experience a black circle around your shot until you zoom in to only the telephoto area. Here is someone else's experience with adding a telephoto to a camera:
- Install the lens.
- Turn on the camera.
- Oh my God, it's just a big black circle. What's wrong?
- Zoom in.
- As you zoom in, the circle gets bigger and bigger until finally the entire picture is visible in the viewfinder.
- Ah, that's better.
- Turn off the camera.
- Turn it back on.
- Oh my God, it's just a big black circle. What's wrong?
- Repeat.
- Then you decide you want to take a picture of something that is nearby.
- Zoom out.
- Oh my God, it's just a big black circle.
- Remove the lens.
- Can take your close up picture.

Thanks. The one i'm looking at is only 30 bucks so, just gonna try it.
I have to admit, while I like the camera, I feel like my S6 Edge runs circle around the S7 Edge's camera.
However my mind completely changed once I went into the back of my complex with no light and took this shot. Long Exposure.

I would also say that I don't see any major improvement form the s6. Maybe it's just me.

Mooooo
Kinda low light
The watch cow
Uploading to xda degrades the quality alot
Camera seems to do just as good as my Note 5 in regular light, maybe a slight bit more grainy when zoomed in. The difference is all in low light and capturing shadows and such. Big improvement.
If the Note 6 can retain the 16MP from the N5 , and also keep the dual pixel from this, it will have a lot of potential.
Scanning documents in artificial light is a big improvement. Especially with optical image stabilization. My barcode reading app finishes decoding before I finish getting the phone in position to read it.
Coming from the s6 edge to the note 5 and now to the s7 edge there are some improvements. Biggest comes from low light pictures. A lot of pictures I use to take in artificial light or low light would always come out grainy now it comes out much better and pics at night, you can actually tell what you are seeing in the pictures. Also the speed of the shutter seems faster or at least the auto focus speed. Makes a significant difference when trying to get a good shot in a pinch.
completely unedited. Amazing camera almost as good as my DSLR.

so seems like my front facing camera won't focus. it only has a set focus for whatever is in the background and will NOT focus on a face. it's absolutely awful. whatever is in the foreground is blurry and there's no options in the new Samsung cameras to adjust exposure or anything which also makes making some videos on the ffc suck. anyone else having this issue? my note 4 ffc was much better than this one. ugh.
Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
I have the same problem with mine. I thought it was because of the beauty filter.
maybe it's just how this camera is. pardon my ugly mug, but here's a great example. notice it's focusing on the background. it honestly seems just like it's a problem where it's focusing on infinity rather than what's in foreground. maybe a software tweak can fix it? I really don't want to return the damn phone because of this...

I also noticed this when i compared my s6 with my s7.
The s6 when I'm closer to the camera is crisper than the s7 but when I hold my arm strait the s7 wins almost like it finds the sweet spot, the s6 behaves smilar but like i said more crisper up close.
Both cameras show the face detect cirkel.
Could be an issue with the new 3D beauty filter maybe? (And yes i have turn both down to zero)

sounds cool. the quality is WORSE in low light, and it's very oil painty looking, which i presume is the processing..however, they don't give you raw features for FFC..they don't even let you adjust exposure which pisses me off, bc i used my note 4 to record guitar videos for youtube, and the FFC looked fine on the note, but it's so overexposed on the s7 it sucks.
front facing cameras don't support auto focus, they have a Fixed-focus lens, & since the sensor is so small there is no bokeh(blur), so its focus distance is set to infinity, that's why it looks a bit blurred when you are too close to it

Thats because its has a very wide f/1.7 aperture, it will give some blur at very close distance, since its focus distance is set to infinity
the note was f1.9. not that big of a difference to create such a drastic difference in quality.

Tested two S7 and both was blurry and looked lika filter all over the picture.
Then i tested two S7 Edge and they was crisp sharp, better than my S6.
Both the S7 and the S7 edge had the same camera sensors. Forgot to check FW version but since it is the sames sensors in both the s7 and s7 edge it may be a FW diffense.
What is your FW version on the s7 edges front camera.
hmm very interesting! I wonder if it's a firmware issue then. why would the edge have a different firmware than the s7 though?

there's a video of ffc. you can see how blurry the guitar is compared to the background.
Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Honor 7X come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Looking to get this for my mom, but with all the photos I've seen, they're all just... INCREDIBLY DARK...
Dual rear cameras of Huawei Honor 7X works
After seeing these photos, I can only say rear cameras with 16MP f/2.2 and 2-mp works together. Though sometimes the supported light is not enough. But most of the time, it works fabulously.
Try using the front camera in normal lighting condition and than cry in a corner because it just sucks...?
Photos are really bad in lower light conditions. The Pixel Camera port is not available for this chipset
The screen is nice but camera plain sucks

Yeah it's still not good as the S7 but it's definitely on par with or better than the S6. What more can I ask for. I was totally not expec much out of this camera and was pleasantly surprised. I don't have the lag most people complain about except soentimes opening the camera app. Can't wait til my Oreo OTA finally comes so that's gone.
Pretty decent. This was shot with the aperture function and set to f/1
It´s a cheap phone, so I didn´t expect too much. But after the camera of my Note 4, this phone´s camera is just poor. Very poor. I´m gonna get rid of it , and get my Note 4 fixed.
I really dislike the camera, and I wish that I had read a review about it before I bought the phone. There are two problems. 1) The resulting images are WAY to contrasty. Anything in shadow is pretty much black. Outdoor shots will have a well exposed sky and very dark to black ground. If someone's face has shadow on it, they will be unrecognizable. Which brings me to the second point... 2) The camera does not remember any of your settings when you open it again, except for the flash setting. For example, you can set HDR mode, but it will always revert back to standard mode, sorry! Other manufactures have their cameras remember HDR mode. Or, you can put it in "pro" mode and wade through the menu and move the contrast slider to help the "too much contrast" problem, but the camera won't remember that if you close it and you will have to do that every time you open the application again. I'm experimenting with other camera apps, but you will lose the special features that the phone camera has like the depth of field simulation with the second lens., and you can't use it with features like the "press volume twice to wake up and take a quick picture". I'm really disappointed with it.
Have anybody tried to shoot with custom rom? Can i see sample images? I just want to make sure before i buy it
