Hey there,
is it possible to change the icon sizes / layout on the Nexus 5 / Kit Kat? E.g. I want 5 icons in a row instead of 4 (they are soo big, so there's enough space for 5 instead of 4)...
Thanks, Regards,
MrD.
Only with a custom launcher like apex or nova can you change the grid/icon size of the app drawer.

I'm playing around with a new UI, but I'd rather have 6 rows and no dock, rather than 5 with the dock. Any ideas?
I'd second that

I'm down for having this too.

Why don't you use ADW launcher, you can add extra columns and rows. I disabled all labels and have loads of icons on each desktop.
That sounds like a good idea to me.

Cause then there is the dock at the bottom, messes with the theme
does anyone know or have witnessed how the stock launcher's app drawer goes from 5 icons by 5 icons to 6 icons by 5 icons? Anyway to switch it back?
Thanks!
So I've just got a note 3 LTE and I've got the font size on "tiny" so its the smallest one available, i'm not rooted and don't plan to root, and I want to stick by the stock launcher if possible, but is there anyway to make the icons and font smaller on the app drawer? Also is the option from the S4 available to hide icons as I can't find the setting if so.
thanks.
Stock launcher has no customisation options, so no.

Agree, your best option would be Nova Launcher https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher.prime
Apex does the trick too. I now have 5 icons per row at 85% of the original size and the difference is huge. Not rooted.

I just started playing with my new Note 12.2. I noticed that there isn't a bottom row of icons that don't change between home screens. The bottom row is present on my Note 4 and Note 8. Was this something that was left out of this device? if not, how do i enable it?
The dock?
To my knowledge that isn't included in the UI of tablets larger than 9". You'll have to use a 3rd party launcher like Apex or Nova.
I kind of thought it may be something like that. . This is my first large tablet.. Thanks for the answer!

I had modded my dpi to 280, and on the previous version of the Google app, this caused more app icons to fit because it increased the number of columns and rows in the grid. The sizes.of icons and text were nice and small.
With the 5.3 update along with the vertical drawer, app icons are big and only 4 fit per row. Any way to get around this? Will I have to reset dpi and change it again?
You can change your launcher, some allow you to change the size of the icons. Or try something like Icon Changer Free.

Just downgrade your launcher.

Friend you can use nova launcher which allows you to manipulate icon sizes and you could also hold back to stock Google now launcher like experience on it.
