Hey Gang! I'm posting here because the section for app announcement is for paid apps, and this app is free...if I am mistaken kindly move the thread to the appropriate forum.
Drop is a proximity-based peer-to-peer file sharing app that is simple, fast, and secure. Drop just went live on the Google Play store yesterday, and it is the first Android app that uses a combination of Bluetooth and WiFi Direct to create a seamless P2P user experience. It is still an early release so there are plenty of kinks and interop issues, but we'd love for ya'll to check it out and let us know what you think so we can improve the product! You can grab it at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ekatasystems.apps.drop

Hi J, yes, sorry about that. Since we utilize WiFi Direct, this feature is only stable in Jelly Bean and higher. Thanks for your patience, and I hope you get a chance to try it soon.
Hey folks! We launched Drop exactly one week ago, and the reception has been awesome and overwhelming! With your patience and generous feedback, we've made a few bug fixes and pushed an updated version. Please give it a shot!

Hi Manfio. Yes we've been having some problems with the Nexus 4, but the Nexus 7 has been working quite well. I thank you in advance for your patience as we iron out problems w/ the Nexus 4, but hope you get to try the app with friends to see if it works for your Nexus 7!

Working fine.............grt
It does seem like a great app. I think what would be better is if there is integration in to other apps, such as the gallery. Would make a lot of sense to be able to share things straight from the app you're in.
Otherwise I like it!
Also if you had a chrome extension to share to computers that would be great

Looking for three or four people to test the new XDA Andriod application. It is mostly fully functional (reading, posting, PMs, etc.).
It will be free for the community soon, but if you want to be one of the first to try it, send me a PM with your email address.
I will edit this post once I have enough people.
EDIT: Have enough testers for now. Thanks for the help.

Works great
But would it be possible to have only defined sub forums, show up under the latest tab?
Or maybe it would be possible to split android and windows?
And what about search?

Any updates on the availability of this app? It's sorely needed... Or at the very least, it'd be great if XDA created a mobile version of the site. Browsing on a mobile phone, while possible, is a pretty painful experience. In any case, thanks for working on the app. I can't wait to give it a try!

It may be locked to a particular version. I don't have a Sapphire anymore (1.5) so I cannot check; in any case it's useless without decent forums on there I'm sure soon XDA will be available. I'm heading out but worst case I can send you the APK to try and see if it'll work.

I have a lot of passion for Kindle fire development and I want to help by creating an app that is useful for Kindle fire users...but what. I just don't know what I should make. I need ideas. What do you want to make your experience better on the Kindle? Anyone? Any CRAZY or BOLD ideas are appreciated.

Well, whoever wants to help (including you) may do so. I refuse to make it a paid app though, because that's just wrong considering it's based on Amazon's work. Heh.
I'd gladly give back by helping with whatever apps people are creating since I KNOW Android developers lack in that department for the most part. :silly:

My claim to fame... First custom stock kernel for the blaze 4g. Heh.
I still have my blaze (in addition to a Nokia Lumia windows phone). And I'm still really the only custom stock based kernel dev for this phone. Too bad I left the kernel in a high battery draining state. I've been meaning to get back to that so I can give it to my kids as a game phone.
Maybe I'll make a short comeback.
I'm stuck with stock based myself because the phone is our home phone (for babysitters to use for emergency). I live in an area where only Verizon and Sprint get coverage, and I rely on WiFi Calling, which I don't think has been figured out for AOSP.
I'd like to throw shout's out to

no idea how that would work at imessage isn't an open source app and goes through apples servers to work which means it would need some kind of ID

There is an application out there for android that is supposed to do all that but you need an apple ID and password and it goes through some servers in China before going to apple so I'm not sure it would be worth it.
You can read about it here:

Honestly, it would be irresponsible to share it. I remember when it was doing the rounds, and it did actually work but it sent every IM, sent AND received, to and from a server in China. The privacy concerns are obviously high, not just for the Android user but primarily for the unaware iOS user.
I don't think that kind of thing should be encouraged on XDA.

Yeah, that app also had the ability to download apps in the background. There was a some saying that since it went through that server in China, it could have have the possibility to steal data from Apple IDs. Like credit card numbers. Its a shame, because it did work pretty good. Hopefully since Hangouts is on iOS now, maybe someday they'll be nice and bring iMessage to us.
Another solution would be to convert everyone to android so iMessgae would become irrelevant.
