Hi guys,
read that Nexus5 features mass storage mode.
Anybody found out to actvate/use it?
Anything other (connection to PC) than MTP mode is not successful to me.
Anybody?

DidnĀ“t look into this one since "Windows 8.1" is not my problem and is in fact not the problem!
Some mod should RENAME that Threat to a more reasonable one and kill this one.

Tried Stock, CM10, now on AOKP-JB built 3
So you are running AOKP , so i assume you are not just talking about moving files from your PC to your tab , after installing the correct drivers from Samsung ( either via Kies or Windows update).
So what exactly do you want to do ? Am i right in saying that you want full access from your PC to your tab via USB ? From what I have worked out it doesn't work like that with our tabs as the set permissions wont let you. Or have it got it wrong ?
Have you read this thread by ChainFire? ( he IS the man ! ).

Sorry, I don't understand why it's better. I just bought a Tab 2 and when I hooked it up to my pc I could see the folders and files and copy music and videos to it. I was going to hook it up again now to see if it's about getting into system files or something, but I'm exchanging it later today and I already did a factory reset.
Is it something to do with modding system files, rooting and flashing files that's easier with it? Sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm new to the Tab and rooting and flashing on my phone (Rezound) is so completely different than this, I'm still absorbing everything and trying to understand it all before I do anything with a Tab.

Simple... MTP permits u to copy to / from video, music, photo... files. Finish.
USB Mass Storage gives u the total permission of copying files but also... format partition, defrag, open files directly from the device, etc etc.

Use a different usb cable, drivers installed correctly?, rebooting the pc might help. Usb debugging enabled?
You are maybe trying to transfer a big file and a lot of files. A friend wasn't able to transfer his old HTC files (300) to his new N5 so he opted for a WiFi transfer.

Thanks a lot mate ! :good::fingers-crossed:
If you have a recovery installed, boot into recovery and mount storage. Then it will work flawlessly.
I had this issue as there were files which contained special characters like : ... Windows didn't like it and stopped copying.

Hello xda users!
I have bought a CAT s50 device and I am very used to feature that phone vibrates once when someone answers my call. Since it runs andorid 4.4.2 it does not support this feature by default. So I found app Vibrate Call (on Play store) (if someone knows better way around without rooting it would be cool)
So there is a main problem - when I try to access my phone via "adb devices" command it is not shown there (I enabled USB debugging and device can be seen in explorer). So I cannot run the shell to enable app. I tried it as well on Linux where no drivers are needed
Any solutions? Anyone faced the same problem?

Try to unmount the storage / deactivate MTP when you are going to use ADB. Have you checked the devicer manager if your phone is listed?
Still no success. Looks like there is missing ANDROID (not USB) driver for s50 (under device manager). But it is strange that it did not work on Linux, but I am not sure that I tried PTP mode insted of MTP as you said.

Hi,
I am trying to recover some videos from a S3 neo (Kitkat 4.4.2), but the problem is that none of the software I tried recognize it. I think the problem is the lack of "usb mass storage" ode (or in the other words having only MTP ot PTP modes) which results in the phone being recognized exactly as a phone by windows, and not as a simple usb storage device (I mean like a flash drive). Enabling "usb debugging" option did not solve any problem. I'm really frustrated; please help!
Thanks in advance.
