CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

It's still WIP, but it should be fixed very soon.
And it's for both variants.

It's the same config that grand use. I heard users saying that vibration works for them but it's weak compared to stock. For them it's already in the config but it seems that our devices differ here again.

No, touchscreen went crazy and wasn't useable after the last commit
I disabled vibetonz and only used drv2603. But it didn't vibrate yet altough I can see /sys/class/timed_output/vibrator.

Working:
Wifi
Incoming calls and texts
Display
It boots doesn't it?
Charges
Note: I disabled SELinux because of the incompatibilities from AOSP.
Pretty much everything else
Not Working:
Top Priority:
1. 3g/HSPA+ Stuck on 2g bands from AT&T. AT&T people can see 3g bands? Looks like I accidentally pulled the exhilarate bits.Need to see if flashing the radio will make a difference.
This bug will not let you make outgoing texts/calls.
[STRIKE2. Must flash kernel on top of this rom, I don't know the root of the problem. Working on it.[/STRIKE]
3.Captivate keys (soft keys) for home and search are not working. Partly my side and omni's side. I don't think the msm8660-common keys are working correctly across all variants (skyrocket/Hercules)
4. You must remove setupwizard from the gaaps, it fc.
5. Usual CM bugs (gyro/speaker) I think i fixed the speaker but I need that part tested. I'm using the aosp parts to try and fix it.
6. GAAPS always forceclose
If you have another bug, please provide a logcat and a description of how the problem occurred.

Erm, I don't mean to ruffle your feathers, but you should include info in your post about your ROM, like what customizations are available, if it's AOSP or AOKP, and so on. I checked the website and wiki you linked to but both give no detail about the software, merely that it's a new project and there's nightly builds.
Screenshots would be helpful. People won't flash something they know nothing about.
Thanks

I've already cleaned and reflashed my CM. Give me about ten minutes, and I can have the log for you.

Is this what you need?
EDIT: It was not the right file. I have no idea how to create a logcat from a system that doesn't boot.

[ROM][4.4][EXPERIMENTAL] Unofficial OmniROM KFire HD 7" (KitKat) [12/02]
This ROM actually works if you unpack the zip and swap the boot.img and file_contexts with that of cm11. I have to say, very nice. Not many bugs so far.

Replacing these files gives the same results as last time. Did you have the same black screen after the blue Kindle Fire logo as me?

Two questions:
1) Do you mean unzip when you say unpack? ...and
2) Do you re-zip (pack?) before flashing?
Thanks

Yes I did. It's only working occasionally now. I'll keep trying at it to find out what's wrong. Mine won't get past the boot animation now, but did before.

Install Instructions:
1. Download ROM
2. Reboot into recovery
3. Please backup your ROM before you begin!
4. You need a full wipe* if coming from another ROM.
5. Flash the ROM
6. Flash 4.4 Gapps
7. Reboot
8. Let it sit a while.
*NOTE: You are more than welcome to dirty-flash (i.e. only wipe cache/dalvik cache) between each of our nightly builds. However, there are times when we push certain changes/updates that WILL cause errors (force closes, etc.) if you choose to dirty-wipe. In such cases, please DO NOT report bugs in this thread until/unless you have done a full wipe (/data and /system) and tried again. If there is any indication of a dirty-flash in your bug report, it will probably be ignored. See my signature for additional information.

Credit for making this happen:
The CyanogenMod team
The Slim team, namely @cordell12
Since none of the LiquidSmooth team members have this device, thanks to our wonderful testers that tirelessly flashed build after build until we finally got it going: Brian ( @btvolta ), Jay ( @jayharper08 ), and everyone else.
Lol out of the woodworks with all these ROMs. Not complaining. Just trying to withdraw from being a flasherholic

I'm not completely up to speed on hlte yet, but we use the stock cm kernel in our build (for now) so any aosp-based kernel that you would normally flash on CM, Slim, AOSB, etc. will work just fine. It's completely user preference apart from that.
How in the world do i change font size? I seem to keep overlooking it lol
Also... this is my first time flashing an AOSP ROM, NFC doesn't work on T-Mobile variant?
Edit: Seen Font resizer was removed in a commit. Just made DPI slightly smaller for now... NFC still seems to be an issue though...

CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
Code:
#include
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM

* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you. Hard. A lot.
*/
