Is there anyway to load these two on the Nexus 5?
Not sure if this works but try these out.

A working 4.4 AOSP Messaging App can be found here:

Did anyone manage to install the AOSP browser on their Nexus 5?
I followed the instructions found here on XDA (albeit for the N4) but it didn't install.
I badly want the AOSP browser because it autofits text to my screen (i.e. zoom in and double tap - the text is fitted to the screen) :good: tried Dolphin, Opera & Firefox but neither did that.
Search on Play store there is an aosp browser installer give that a shot and see if it works.

This is probably because they changed the internal Android webview to the Chromium one, while on Android 4.X (on Nexus 4 and Nexus 7s for example) is still was the AOSP browser.

When I look for this on Play Store it tells me it's not compatible.
Apparently the 4.4 AOSP browser isn't ready for primetime either. Anyway to install a 4.3 build?

What busts my chops is that Google knows how to build a beautiful browser that is fast and buttery smooth. The AOSP browser is amazing, Yet they push all their devices with Chrome which is relatively slow and choppy.

What about pulling the 4.3 browser out of a Jelly Bean GApps package? Then pushing to system/app?
damn was hoping for the modded n5 AOSP browser 4.4kk version, guess no one has done it, works beautiful on the nexus 4

You can do the same thing with zooming so blocks of text are enlarged to fill the screen with Chrome. Just double tap on the text.
I was wondering if there were any AOSP 4.4.2 ROMs with only speed improvements (ie, no customization options) and the AOSP Messaging app with the CM improvements (ie, quick reply). I would be happy with CM, but it's missing a couple of features I like (LED, Halo) and they seem to have Hangouts in lieu of the AOSP Messaging app. Also, I'd like to be able to flash a custom kernel. Gravitybox for Xposed framework would be able to give me all of these options, however, I'm afraid it would conflict with an AOSP built ROM with features built in.
aosp messaging app and the cm messaging app are different. which one do you want? rastakat includes the aosp messaging app, but wont include the cm messaging app.

Except they oddly don't seem to. Gummy/Onedroid are based on CM/AOSP, and they oddly do not include it. Nor do they have the stock browser.

now the stock browser can differ.. stock(retail) uses the chrome browser, while stock(aosp) uses the aosp browser.

By stock browser I meant AOSP, my bad.
Anyway, does anyone know why CM11 doesn't seem to have the AOSP based Messaging app anymore (the green one with the smiley in it)?
OT
Anyway AOSP browser uses Chromium engine, no more the old and smooth "AOSP WebView"
/OT
Hi!
Since we don't have(yet!) any working CM build I recently found messaging app which looks, and works like that included in CM builds(including popup!).

In CM12 there's no tw tweaks, we want aosp dialer on TW.
I found very good alternative of AOSP dialer.
This is much better than stock TW phone app.
Check out "Simpler Dialer - Android L UI"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simpler.dialer
There a lot of Contacts App alternatives but incoming / outgoing call screen doesn't change. TW call screen stays.

Its 2 separate apps of course it will
has anybody found this yet? I dont like any of the alternatives.
Hello,my carrier (Rogers) recently pushed the lollipop update however the stock messaging app does not provide heads up notifications so I have to use hangouts in order to get them. Is there a fix for this? I prefer the look of the stock messaging app.
No.. Only if there is some mod for it, you can probably find it. Just google it
