[Q] Xbmc Sound comes out fuzzy, bad echo - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

sounds from music if fine but i downloaded xbmc and sound sounds bad with headphones in, with same headphones music sounds normal then use xmbc it sounds crackly and bad, xbmc sound sounds fine out of speakers
not sure why:S, maybe headphones but strange it works with other apps

I noticed the same thing last night.
Sound had a background poping type noise like an old record playing.
I assumed it was my (very old) NAS struggling to stream a HD movie.

Pandora

The kick drum in some songs in Pandora sounds really ugly. It sounds like it would if your headphones were broken, but I am sure my headphones are fine. I am not an audio expert so I do not know the technical term (fart noise maybe?). It is really annoying and it ruins the songs, especially songs with loud kick drums (Deadmau5). Does anyone else have this problem? It happened on every ROM I've used.
Negative. What version of Pandora are you using? I have the "Red Unlimited" app installed on mine and I use Smart Android's Equalizer application.

Are you using Pandora One?
DeadMau5 on mine actually had the same broken sound you're describing. It's just a lot of bass that has to do with the quality of the file. After I upgraded to Pandora One, it went away because of the higher bitrate. Now it makes the same noise if I turn it up super loud. If you don't have Pandora one, just do the 1 day trial and go onto your phone and select High Quality under settings to see if that helps.

Audio Output on AT&T GS3

So I'm new to Android and I've had the GS3 for a few weeks now. I'm liking it so far, but I've noticed something about the GS3 that is kind of annoying..
When I have headphones or a 3.5mm cord plugged into the jack music plays through the headphones or car speakers fine. However, things like notifications, incoming call ringtones and even sms text tones all still play through the phone speaker. Even though it quiets the music through the headphones those audio notifications do not come through the headphones.
Is there a way to change this? Seems really silly.

Hi, not familiar with the GS3 but there are a number of Android ROM's but the basics are pretty much standard.
I would suggest playing around the Profile area rather than the Sound settings.
From your home screen Select Menu then Settings, or just Settings from your Apps page, then go to Profiles rather than Sounds, there is a myriad of setting there. Have a play around.
Hope this helps

UHQ Upscaler problem

Hello everyone im having issues when using Upscaler. The issue is when playing musing sometimes im getting a strange sound only lasting for milisecond.
Im able to reproduce it in poweramp where you can click on track line to play from any specific part of the song.
Not sure if this is the same problem or not, but i have a crackling sound.
It happens with both pocket casts and google play music. Everything will be fine, then a new podcast or song will start and all of a sudden the speaker turns to garbage, horrible crackling sound. If i plug in headphones and toggle the upscaler on and off, then unplug my headphones, the speaker works fine again.
I have to do this every couple of days. Anyone have that issue as well?
For me the issue was caused by having Adapt Sound enabled (which is simply adaptive EQ) & UHQ at the same time.
UHQ amplifies the harsher frequencies already amplified by Adapt Sound. For music, it's not a problem. I do, however, have to disable both for podcasts etc...

Can barely hear vocal track when using headphones

Very bizarre problem developed:
The lead vocal track when playing any audio is barely audible through headphones. The instrumentals sound fine, but then when the lead audio enters, it almost sounds as if it is eminating from a distant echo chamber. Background vocals sound louder. Doesn't seem to matter what the source or app is. I can listen to a podcast and the lecturer/speaker is also inaudible. The problem doesn't exist with BT streaming or when playing through the speaker. The headphones work fine in other hardware.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
is your plug plugged in correctly? maybe some dust got in your 3.5mm jack

Bad Bluetooth quality except using PowerAmp

I recently got a Bluetooth Receiver (Maceton WM4BE). It sounds great with PowerAmp (way better than it does on my computer which doesn't support AptX) but with other apps (Sony Music player, Spotify, YouTube, etc.) the audio constantly crackles, especially with piano sounds and the volume is too loud. On PowerAmp, it sounds great with BT DVC enabled or disabled. I tried the receiver with my HTC Butterfly s, and while it sometimes crackles at the beginning of songs it otherwise sounds fine. On the Z5 I tried fiddling with the audio settings such as turning the normalizer on and off. Strangely, DSEE HX actually sounds like it works with Bluetooth despite the setting claiming otherwise.
Does anyone have similar experiences and know how to fix it? I don't get why it can sound so good with PowerAmp and so bad otherwise.
EDIT: putting it in safe mode didn't help either.
