Wallpaper Centering - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone figure out how to properly center your wallpaper? The leftmost screen before Google Now seems to be "home" when I hit home, so any additional screens are to the right and cause off-center wallpaper. Really wish the wallpaper would center on the home screen and/or stay put.

Possible touchscreen / stock launcher issue!!

To all of those using the stock launcher, could you please try to reproduce this and confirm please. i have observed that touching the screen on 3 different points (space between the icons on the last row of the 3d drawer. Not exactly between the icons but a bit below it. just imagine where the imaginary cube line would be) on the launcher drawer just acts weird; as if you are touching the main application launcher. Also if you just try to scroll up or down from one of these points , nothing is being registered.
i have attatched a pic with the locations of those points. feedback appreciated. thanks.
I just tried it and it works fine on my phone

What u mean it works fine???? i am 100 % there is a problem. i reproduced the problem/bug with 2 htc desires running the gingerbread launcher and also i found out that even the stock froyo launcher had that issue too.
well i guess i just feel safe now that i know it's not something with this phone. thanks anyways
I have that exact same issue.
I just scroll from above the bottom of the lowest row of icons and it's fine...

Yes I have the same issues (could reproduce both phenomenons) and I had that already on my N1 I think.
it works fine for me.
not 100% that i'm getting my fingers in the right place. (fingers are a bit to wide)
Same here. Never noticed before.
Works fine for me as well.
I've noticed that there's a large buffer zone for the home icon.
Edit: Tried it again at those three points. Watch the home icon get highlighted/lit up as you hold that spot. Software issue? Or designed like that.
Yep. The icon being highlighted in the special zones is the exact problem I wanted to point out. Even if u try to scroll from these zones, nothing happens.
It is related to the launcher only. So nothing to worry about.

I think it is nothing we should worry about. The question is why they integrated the home button in the application launcher anyway; everybody has a home button on its android phone right. Without the home button in the launcher they would have had more space for another row of icons and they could have avoid this issue.
I was able to reproduce as well, although I never scroll from that low, so I hadn't noticed it.

Can you Turn OFF Sound Effect on LIVE WALLPAPERS

Hi Guys
Any of you managed to Turn Off the Sound Effect when WEATHER is chosen as your Live Wall paper ?
I mean you can turn off the Sound Effect when you choose the Weather Widget but in the Live Wall Paper, I could not find a way to disable it it !!!
Go into Weather app ->> Menu button ->> Settings ->> Sound Effects.
Check that box and you should be good to go
EDIT: Oh, that might only work in the widget. Let me test it and get back to you
EDIT #2: Got it. Go to apply the live wallpaper in the normal way, then when you're ready to apply it, double click/tap the picture of the wallpaper. This brings up the preview of the wallpaper (red bar across top telling you this). You should see, in the bottom right hand corner, a Settings button. Tap that and you should see two check boxes, one for 'Sound'.

Where is that Thanks button then ?
Look by the other buttons by the 'Quick Reply' one
There isn`t a THANKS button available anywhere ?
Could it because I use the Classic view of the Forum ?

Get an app like Audio Manager to manage your sounds, vibration, and silent settings.
Thanks

You are the man only my second day with sensation and let me tell you that sound after every unlock had me at boiling point I never previewed the wallpaper just applied it so never seen that options bar I never post like this but had to sign up to say thank you my girl thanks you to now she don't have to hear me complain every time I unlock my phone
Sorry to bump a somewhat old thread, but I am having the same problem. I already found that checkbox on my own, but incredibly it has no effect! All I hear all day is the soothing melody of the didgeridoo, and it's beginning to become a bit closer to insanely aggravating. I'm running SynergyROM on my Thunderbolt. Anyone else have the same problem? I've tried switching back and forth, switching and resetting before switching back, etc. to no avail.

[Q] Arranging apps in alphabetical order

So the menu button used to be on S3 / Note 3 / etc other Samsung phones has been replaced with the recent apps button. Is there any way I can sort the apps in alphabetical order instead of the manual way now? I liked that feature in my Note 3, how do I go to settings page in an app without the button?

That's odd. Double check your Accessibility settings to see if there's something in there causing that behavior.

i think it's default, i'm on t-mobile and any app i have open, long pressing recent apps button goes to split screen mode. I do however have a moveable floating menu widget that i can move around and also tap to show a menu screen for a few of my apps.

If that's the default, that's brutal. I really hope my Canadian S6 isn't going to be like that.
Worst case, I guess there are always ROMs or root-based mods.
In the upper right corner of the app drawer is the sort alphabetically button.

Because for a lot of people the option simply isn't there. I believe it was added in a software revision that went out some time after the review units were sent out, but that's just speculation.

Ah okay well then that makes perfect sense
The Canadian S6's are like that too, you can rearrange the apps how you want them but no alphabetical. Also, you need lightflow to control the LED, I'm coming from the oneplus one and I miss the control of the LED!
Uk S6 doesnt have option either, really irritating not being able to auto arrange. why on earth did they remove that?!
On my sprint s6 I can sorry by ABC from an icon in top right of the app drawer... I click it... And it sorts them...
OMG did they really get rid of this? It is not there on the Canadian model.
Also removed on german Vodafone model. :/
Also not on the Australian model on Telstra.

HA! So I move to the country yesterday and the first thing I do after getting over my jet lag is go pick one up. This phone is awesome! Truly the only thing bothering me not being able to sort my app drawer.
Funnily enough if you can be bothered you can still move all the app icons into alphabetical order.....

[Q] Getting rid of the Swipe up or down for the applications drawer message.

Hi there, anyon knows how to get rid of that message? it's frankly driving me nuts...
Thx
Its in the settings.
I dont have my phone yet(will by tonight) but from the reviews i say there was a setting to add the normal app drawer icon and disable the swipe.

Yes there is. You can either have no drawer or a drawer icon. I'll let you discover how in settings.
Go to settings then display and turn on easy stand
Easy stand? Haven't seen that yet...
I think I didn't explain myself correctly, I want to get rid of the Text message that scrolls from time to time and keep the swipe...
same issue

Driving me crazy as well. I'm either going to go back to Nova Pro or I'm going to turn on the app tray icon.

I remember that it's some built in "help and tips " app but I don't remember what it's exactly called. In it you can disable all these annoying hints.

Really hope so, 2 days of use 1 reboot to install the update.... Still there...
Hello, I have figured this out after searching and coming up empty. It was annoying me too.
Press and hold on the home screen like you're going to add a widget. Click 'home screen settings'. Click apps button and choose 'show apps button'
The swipe motion will still work to open the apps.
Take care

Use the Samsung members app. Log in and use the device management in there to clean ram and storage. It stopped for me after using that.
Just enable and apply the Apps Button, then disable and apply the Apps Button and it will go away.
use nova launcher,done,never appears.
Just got a new replacement device after a cracked screen and the "swipe up Or down on screen for all apps" won't go away on home screen. Never an issue on my old device. Does anyone have any new details on this besides a work around?
I will go away in a week or so. Mine was driving me nuts and it went away without me doing anything.
Just scroll up or down through the app/home screen 20-30 times in a row and it will go away. It was driving me nuts and I found this discussion. Saw it was going away after a certain amount of time so I scrolled through it a ton and it was gone. Lol.
Reboot
I went through the swiping up and swiping down and it still showed the message after. But then I shut down the phone and powered it on and it was gone. Just like another user mentioned.

S7 homescreen in apps

Hi. I'm not sure what's happening, but when I open some app I see home screen icons and widget in the background. Like that app's are little transparent. I tried to change icon orders just to check, but the screen in the background is same. Even when the phone is turned off and changing on battery image that is on screen I see part of the image from home screen. Any solution, please?
Thank you.

There is an app in the store called "AMOLED Burn-in Fixer". You could give it a try.
