Hey guys,
Since I got my N5 I was wondering if there is a way to configure the navbar... Put the back-button on the right etc.
And is there a way to get some quick settings like ring mode or gps directly into the Statusbar "pull down menu"... I don't like that title based setting stuff
Second: any way yet to get pie control? Certainly not integrated in kitkat (what kinda sucks)
And, most wanted, but also least possible: halo))).... Likewise not in kitkat (what sucks even more ) I want it but I guess I'll have to wait for the first few custom Roms to feature these things, right....
Just wait for paranoid Android, i used it for about 6 months on my nexus 4 and it was a realy great rom
Pa allows you to customize the nav bar use pie navigation and also halo
I will wait with rooting and using custom Roms because i realy like my nexus 5 as it is, because they made the nav bar transparency
And i will also weit till the nexus 5 developement section is filled
LMT gives you PIE and some other nice things like gestures and integrates with Tasker. Still waiting for my N5 so not sure if LMT works with it.
Yeah, I think I'll wait for PA then.. Enjoy the n5 little as is...

Well considering we have a good month to actually play with our phones before any real custom development begins, we could use this time to come up with ideas that would be great to have on custom ROM's specifically for the Galaxy S4. I myself believe the next two years are gonna be insane and month is nothing compared to the fun we are all about to have!
So let's hear, what do you want your GS4 to do that it can't do right now. I personally would like to see someone make use of air wave more effectively and air view.
I just want some SlimBean love.
4.2.2. Stock. That's all I want.
I want to be able to change themes on my phone with EASE!
Mass delete of the 14.7 million crapware apps that come pre-installed....
just to be able to mod the hell out of it battery, clock, wifi, themes etc.....have kick ass kernal with kick ass battery life...
Cyanogen.
a lag reduction of 290%
I'm going to be developing a slimmed down Touchwiz rom with an AOSP feel but keep the TW framework for camera and other misc features. Samsung does add quite a few software enhancements that are nice to have that AOSP will break.

This is what I can't wait for
Ongoing Wifi Notification removed and change the Phone dialer from the playskool looking white to dark theme. Other than that I am happy with TW till we get AOSP...:highfive:

Exactly what I was hoping for. There's no point in buying a phone with so many "exclusive features" and immediately flashing CM and having the exact same user experience you had on your last phone. I mean, do I love AOSP? Of course I do. But why not try to get the best of both worlds? Can't wait for it, akira!

Keep stock touchwiz with aosp speed, also in the notification switches, the ability for flashlight, and play and next media buttons, also thumbs up/down button if possible

I am generally happy with my S4. Screen is great, the features I am interested in, Navigation, Translation (sTranslate), tethering ( I am on the plan), Bluetooth, and many others working. I am waiting until my 2 week return period is over before rooting and then debloating. I am using Nova launcher and have had no problems with lag. I did find that the home button with the smaller lower bezel than my SIII sometimes causes me to hit one of the dock icons; will require getting used to. Here is what I don't like and would like to see change:
1.The phone dialer. the white is awful
2. Contacts. Also in white, awful
3. Battery icon. Would love to be able to change it.
4. I personally like the 4.1 lockscreen with weather and time. I installed dashclock and used that a one of my Lockscreen widgets but still am not happy. I would love to see the opportunity to change the lockscreen style and type.
I am sure that I will find others, but that is it for now.
All Samsung features with the look & customization of AOKP, PA, Rootbox or Xylon.
idea of the year right here
and i can't believe it wasn't implemented by samsung and shown off at all the demos..
almost every website on the net today incorporates hovering the mouse to expand menus, show list options, features, toggle content, etc
this i would argue is THE biggest shortcoming of not just android, but all mobility today. there's no solid solution to imitate this on a mobile phone.
the galaxy s4 is the first phone which can overcome this shortcoming with its ability to support scree hovering. but what did Samsung choose to implement instead? a zoom in option baked into their stock browser .. which they removed flash support for, crippling one of the biggest breakthroughs in mobile innovation we've seen yet.
any developer who implements this will make front page of xda for sure

Extended desktop mode, the status bar takes up to much screen real estate. Pie controls love them on my nexus 4!
Id love to be able to re-map the double-click of the home button. More options to edit toggles. No need to have that many toggles Im never going to use. Dark themes throughout UI. More apps that can be utilized in Multi window. Using the calculator with the browser or banking apps for example. Swipe the status bar for brightness control, no need to have the slider taking up space in the notification drawer. Swipe between tabs on phone app, same in any other tabbed touchwiz apps. Let me use Wallet dammit!
Love the idea of AOSP/touchwiz mashup. There actually are some features Id like to keep. Too bad Samsung's design team is still stuck on Gingerbread aesthetics...
Remote
A cool feature would be a timed t.v. remote to go off say at 6:30 to wake me up for school
Some PA love would be ideal! DPI changes are necessary with this awesome screen! Plus PIE and Halo would be awesome to have! Oh and remapping of hw buttons is a must for me.
Greetings guys,
I'm about to flash a ROM on my device (nexus 5), but I'm not really into trying every ROM to see what i find the best for me, since i'm not that experienced. I have a couple of need's and would like to ask you guys which ROM have all of the features I am looking for or at least most of them. If for exemple you know a ROM that have almost all of this features and i can have the others by installing an app that needs root, that also works for me.
The features that i'm looking for:
1) change/move quick toggles
2) add quick kill all tabs in the tab button
3) LED colour control depending on the notification
4) change sleep animation
5) change battery and other icons colour/shape
6) Pie control
7) better gallery than stock
8) lockscrean features + see notification
9) Switch between songs with long press volume buttons
10) control brightness by swapping the notification bar
11) active display
12) disable printscreen notification
13) change locking screen animation
14) ok google
15) Power menu
16) quick lunch shortcuts
17) navigation bar options (colour/add more)
18) app opps
19) torch
20) Imersive mode
21) Resize navigation bar
22) Adaway
23) Other usefull tweaks / not battery drainer / Snappy and stable
Like i said before, i'm kind of a newbie around here, so i would be really appreciate if you could help me in this one.
Regards

Check out Carbon rom

has most/all of what your looking for, not a fanboy reply, just loaded it myself and like what it offers.

Will have a look! Any other ROM suggestion guys?
I do not know which ROM you would like the best, but read users' ratings and make your decision then. By the way, the "best roms, apps" threads are not allowed on XDA.

I didn't ask for the best ROM.. I asked for the ROM that has the features I'm looking for.. No need to have that attitude..

You can read users ratings and see video reviews. With this way can take a first look on the ROM. Also, you can see screenshots (if any has been uploaded).

Create your own custom rom is the best way to get all the features you're looking for

You're asking for too much, I think only PacMan is enough since it combine everything. Without active display then Slim Roms may do it for you. AOKP could also do it, it might not have Active Display yet due to being early with KitKat, but will soon. Some other stuff you're asking for does not require custom roms like Okay Google and Adaway. It's not even possible because Google Search is proprietary and can not be added to the rom to be distributed (without GMS licensing).
Most of the things you're asking for could be enabled with Xposed Framework and Gravity Box. I think it's better to learn to implement features you need in various ways instead of looking for a custom rom that have everything you want which never will.

My main suggestions are: SlimKat and CyanogenMod 11.

Slimkat!
Sorry but I closed this thread...no matter how you word it or specific you are, this is still a best ROM thread and these are almost always closed.
Please take a little time to explore the Nexus 5 development sections, there are a lot of cool things to try out and maybe you will find some features you really love that aren't on your list...yet.
I have a few questions and gripes about Lollipop that i'm hoping some of you can help me with.
1. I feel like im one of the few people that actually hates the new navigation icons. ABSOLUTELY hate them. I used to use GravityBox and PIE so i dont even see them that often but 5.0 has no Xposed support. Can anyone suggest an app that works on 5.0 that allows me to change the look of the nav bar icons? All the ones ive tried on the play store dont work and everything I google suggests that I want get the 5.0 icons instead of get rid of them.
2. There has got to be a way to get a clear all button in the recents menu. (once again Xposed is gone now)
These are the two things I really cant live without, there are plenty more things that Xposed allowed me to do that I will miss but these are the two things that really just made Android perfect for me. I wish the Xposed dev would realize how important that Mod is too all of us because think currently he has no immediate plans to bring it to 5.0 ((((((
If you know anything I can do to solve these problems please help.
Hey there,
i excessivly use custom navbar buttons (e.g. Chrome with Chrome Icon), but my current ROM BlissPop 2.0 got Lockscreen Lag, which I can't fix. And newer Versions of the ROM discontinued the extreme customizable Navbar Settings with the for me useless CM Navbar Settings.
I searched and searched, but no ROM seems to have the "old" Navbar Settings, where you can add what you want to it and change the Icon.
Now my ROM keeps lagging even more and I am searching for an alternative, maybe with customizable PIE controls. But not even the new ROMs seem to still have PIE Controls :/
Does anybody have a ROM suggestion for me ? Could also be an older Version (but available)...

Actually the best way to find out is to try for yourself for a few days. You just make a titanium backup of your apps. Then start flashing. Try every other roms and you would be surprised actually. I even tried the ROMS I never heard before but they were worth it actually.
Like Validus has awesome battery life and I have become a fan of it with its smoothness and tweaks. I would have never known if i have never tried it.
Also after every few days, redo your titanium backup of your apps like whatsapp and other messaging/notes app if they are not synced online.
Quote me in case you expect a reply!
So, I got a look at Marshmallow on the HTC One A9 (via a review, I didn't actually put my hands on one) and while it still has Sense-themed Settings, it has the AOSP-like Quick Toggles like you'd see on a Nexus/Moto phone. And Flashlight is a stock toggle.
Can't really say much more about it. It's still the same soft keys, but if you have root and an app like SoftKeyZ (paid) or a ROM like ViperOne, you can change them to whatever you like (I use the AOSP set). The video didn't show BlinkFeed, but the Prism/BlinkFeed launcher looks to be about the same.
Nice to see HTC getting closer and closer to AOSP, as long as they keep the features, like rearranging the toggles (which is in stock Marshmallow, but it's somewhat hidden, I think you long-press the settings gear above the quick toggles to enable it).
So here's hoping we actually get the update... they're still saying we're getting it, but they said we were getting 5.1 as well. If we do get it, the One M8 will have been a well supported phone, having used Android 4, Android 5, and Android 6 (even though Marshmallow was originally 5.2).
