Today I installed the KatKiss 4.3 ROM on my TF101 which went according to plan.
Beforehand I made a backup of all my apps with Titanium Backup.
Everything except one thing restored like it should.
I'm quite addicted to the game 'Blastron' and I wanted to keep my progress obviously. After I restored this game (app + data) I started it up and now it seems I'm back at Level 1 anyway
I thought, no problem, I simply go to the Play store and install a 'clean' game and afterwards I restore the data only. Unfortunately, that didn't work either.
I can see the backup though in Titanium Backup: in total 3 files, so I guess I did nothing wrong initially?
Does anyone have any tips?
Thanks.
Same Problem here....
I have no solution at the moment...
When you say you upgraded to 4.3 what version did you come from (4.2.2) or earlier? I thought the major thing in 4.3 was SELINUX which I would assume could cause issues with restoring app data from a completely different version of android.

Hi people,
I recently flashed CM7 for LG Optimus One onto my phone from stock rom. Before I did that, I did a Titanium Backup backup of all my apps and data. I did not like CM7 so I used KDZ to revert back to stock rom. Now I am trying to restore my apps and data, restoring apps went well but when I try to restore data, it keeps giving the message that data restore failed. My contacts and messages and app history is all gone. How can I fix this? I've already read other threads for help but to no avail.
Data restore failed
I'm having the same issue. Just had to replace my Motorola Xoom tablet, and even though I'm using the same version of the OS, my apps all restore, but data fails on every one of them. HELP!!!
New version 3.8.5.2 was released a little while ago.
I could restore data by it.
Me wrong, I misunderstood the issue
Titanium backup, despite his name, doesn't work for me really well on backup app and data (just thinking that on my SE Arc, it doesn't save native apps but only their data)
Experiencing the same problem after upgrading from Gingerbread 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 on the same device. It's always worked perfectly for me so I'm gutted it's failing.
Could someone contact the developer? I went to their website but don't know how.
Woots new titanium backup version just released on android market go download apparently changelog says that it fixes the issue!
Thanks wa2c for pointing it out!
I can confirm that the problem is fixed (for me at least (Epic 4g))
FIXED!!
WOW! A HUGE thank you to the developer....they got RIGHT on this. The update this morning fixed my problems!
I'm gonna leave a great review (TB is my "life-saving" app).

LOL, this was a really annoying bug. Tnx. for quick fix.
I know there are a lot of questions about this on XDA, but no one seems to give a straight answer on how to fix this or even prevent it.
I flashed kh2 deodexed today via CWM, everything went fine.. I installed titanium backup to restore my apps, which I did, they worked fine until I rebooted the phone. Then the apps dissapeared, and the home screen shortcuts display the SD card icon and they won't open "Application is not installed on your phone".
Then, I did a wipe to data and cache partitions, but this time I restored apps only (without data) one by one, as I needed. Not as a batch, as I did last time, and was working ok. Though, I thought I'd try the ICBINB kh2 ROM, so I flashed it fine. Restored apps through titanium backup, this time one by one, mostly apps only (some of them w/ data) and was working fine, but suddenly the apps dissapeared again.
I'm about to wipe the phone to fix this... but, is there a way to prevent this from happening again?
Is restoring data from titanium causing this?
Well there has been many direct answers on this topic. Factory reset. restore from cwm, not TB.

hey, didn't know that. **presses thanks button**
I just restored apps via cwm, fixed permissions and it's working. It even got my settings back.. wtf. I was living under a rock all this time.
But is it completely safe? I guess that for GB builds, doing backups and restoring this way may be harmless, but probably not the same story if coming from a froyo rom.
Anyway, thanks a lot.
yea, what i did was flash both 2.2.1 and 2.3+ fresh. then backup each and whatever rom you go to, flash the corresponding backup.
I'm about to install Android Revolution HD™ 3.x XE but my question is I'd like to back up my phone and apps with titanium backup and restore my phone after installing the ROM
Now I know I need to use superwipe but buy restoring everything after am I defeating the purpose of using superwipe?
I dont want to be restoring old files I may not need or could cause problems
Thanks In advance
Although I don't have a firm answer to your question, I would advise you against doing a full restore (system data and everything). I've had numerous problems such as my lock screen PIN code changing after a reboot (preventing me from logging into the phone).
Fred
I backed up using Titanium then used superwipe, after I had flashed the rom and restarted the phone all my apps automatically reinstalled. I am a noob so I am not sure how or why this would have happened. I would add that everything went very smoothly for me and the phone is running very well, absolutely no problems and I am very new to this rooting game. This website and the developers that are on it are both fantastic, a big well done to all concerned.
I just flashed arhd and restored "all apps with data" with titanium backup. everything seems to be running smoothly
Thanks for the replys, I'll probably Flash the new ROM at the weekend

Mine did the same thing. They reinstalled (most of them anyway) because google kept a record of what I had loaded from the market. The only thing is because they were reinstalled automatically the market doesn't give me the option of removing them. Is yours the same?
On a side note a while ago when I first used LeeDroids rom I used titanium backup to reinstall my apps and data. When picked my phone up the next morning (it was plugged in all night) it was red hot where something was loading the cpu up. I reinstalled the whole thing a couple more times before I realised it was either an app or the process or reinstalling them on a different rom with Titanium that was causing the load. Now I use mybackup pro and just keep my data and install the apps separately.

Just dont restore your system data as it may cause problem, only back up and restore user Apps...
Contact and SMS can be easily backed up via People and Message options.

I just used superwipe after a Ti Backup and installed ARHD and now can't restore anything on my s3
I was not sure if this should go to this forum or to the ARHD development forum.
I did run super wipe lite before the install and all seems good until the last restore to try and restore my desktops.
Currently I am running ARHD 3.21 on a TF101 and would like to upgrade to 3.51. During the upgrade everything goes well and the unit boots into the new rom, I restore my apps with TB Pro and then I restore my system data. Restoring system data seems to cause a problem, because after the restore the unit will only stay up a short while and the reboots. What part of system data should I not restore? Specifically I am trying to get back my desktops. Possibly I should ask what do I restore from system to only get my desktops and would that be enough with a new rom to still cause problems?
Thanks Matt

Never install system apps/data from TB... do a fresh install of ROM n start over again without TB restore
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda app-developers app
I don't even back up my system files anymore. I've only used Apex/ADW/LP for my launchers and none of those actually properly restore their homescreens from a TB restore, asus' launcher may be different but just the same its safer to go with udupa82's suggestion and just restore user apps/data and then start over for your homescreens.
Having weird issues with a Pixel 3 were it will stop making or receiving calls. I can clear the cache and reboot and that often works but I am unsure how many calls I may have missed. Text still works the entire time. I am on the latest Android 11 build with an unlocked bootloader and magisk installed just the restore data with Titanium Backup from previous phone. Not a fan of all the stupidness that got changed/added with Android 12. Willing to try custom roms if that is the right direction. Any thoughts?

If you restored data from Titanium Backup, that may be your problem. Titanium Backup has not been updated for two years, and does not work well with newer versions of Android. The restore part caused the most problems. TB has pretty much been abandoned.

Thanks for the response. I noticed it had not been restoring apps for a while so I just resorted to restoring mostly game data with it. Wondering if I use Easy Backup & Restore to save my data then wipe and reinstall OS and apps then restore data if that would fix it.

It is certainly worth trying. I don't know anything about Easy Backup - I use Swift Backup, and have successfully restored data from one phone to another using it. It might depend on what Android version was on your old phone, though. I recall reading somewhere that restoring data from different Android versions could cause problems.

Finally got around to trying this after replacing the loud speaker on another Pixel 3. Seemed to work well. We will see if this solves the call problems.
