theres a rom for it
pretty stable build just bluetooth audio dont work
I hope the 4.4 to be more stable and compatible with my S III than 4.3
Battery drain issues, lock screen lag, etc, about 4.3 and S III
My THL W100 mobile phone is Android 4.2, don't know how to upgrade to the Android 4.3, let alone the Android 4.4.

I am very disappointed in Samsung because of 4.3. release. They did horrible job. That release has almost 0 software features from Galaxy S4 (and it was officially promised back when S4 was released that "almost all of them" will arrive on the S3). Not only that, but everything about the release itself is bad..it has lag and different issues all over the place.
I don't understand why this has happened, but pissing of 40 million S3 users is very bad move if you ask me. Maybe they became to successful for their own good.

If there is a release for 19300 international version, I would be happy to try it
I'm very disappointed by the 4.4 "Release".
Google has completely dropped the ball on this one, it's been more than a week and NOTHING besides some half-assed source release which developers now have to cobble together with old binaries to make it stagger along.
If Google continues to "release" this way in the future there will be hell to pay in the form of lost customers.

Are you sure? I surely hope you're right, because installing a custom ROM is not an option for me; even if the are some stable builds, issues like Bluetooth not working and others are holding me off.

Yes, Samsung has, as of today, stopped rolling out 4.3 and is working on fixing the issues. So expect a new release soon.
This is brilliant news, then!

Thanks for the feedback. We will be adding a setting to show soft buttons on the webpage under the screen picture for devices that don't have soft keys enabled by default. We have this on our list and will add this for sure.
In the mean time as a workaround you can try some apps that can enable soft buttons on your device. We understand that's inconvenient to say the least but still.
Thanks,
The Weak Control Team

You may workaround it with SoftKey Enabler or similar apps to show soft keys while you are connected. This will be needed until we add the setting for soft keys. We will be working on this with high priority.

Please add support for more devises. or older versions of android. :good:
not working
Not working on nexus 5 running lolliop.it says "Weak control failed".
not working on oneplus one downloaded the free app that's ok up and running, followed the instructions get to the stage to connect to P.C and it never accepts the pin generated and never goes further...superuser allowed so no probs there
Sadly does not work, i just can't access the adress it gives me, it keeps on loading and then says "Connection has timed out" yes I'm connected to the Internet on both my device and PC, what am I doing wrong??
Edit: I realised that I needed to create a WIFI Hotspot on my PC and then connect to it with my device, but now the problem is after entering the PIN given by the app nothing happens, it just freezes just like that, i click on "connect" several times, nothing happens
Edit 2: Finally managed to get it working, it seems like only Goggle Chrome Broweser works with it. What i can say is, ther's great potential, on my Galaxy Note 10.1 running Kitkat 4.4.2, it lags terribly, actually it causes my device to lag also, maybe coz I'm still running the free version, other than that, great app I like it, since it's still in beta it promises to only get better
I don't suggest downloading the free version to anyone. It's very annoying when the message pops up to buy the full version. there is only one button to press, and that is buy, back key won't do anything, at this point to stop the app the only way is to force close it. And this happens too frequently
Very nice!
It's working very nicely on my Samsung Galaxy S4 (i9505)
Thank you!

Works great on my Nexus 5 running KK. I didn't use it long enough to get the pop up to buy it though.

Method to achieve root
Got ideas how to achieve root? KitKat method or any specified methods?
Amazing work, Daniel. Thanks so much for your effort.
My impressions on this release: battery life is AMAZING, a lot better than official firmware; I am unable to play any kind of video, Youtube included, that´s the only thing that is really bothering me since I use chromecast to watch movies from it; Incredibly fast and responsive; some screen tearing when browsing the web (using Chrome); I don´t know if it is just my imagination but the color scheme seems to be a little "off", contrast is a bit down; some reboots here and there, it doesn´t seem to have a specific reason.
Well, that´s it. Thanks again for all your work!
cm 12
Its super awesome we are seeing lollipop on gt6810 all though there were some fixes need for video decoding and others. I did try it out but all the roms I've tried don't quiet give me the simple stable experience paranoid 3.68 gives me especially with camera flash everytime its opened for new pictures to be taken and browser distortions which is hardly experienced in pa3.68. Looking at the paranoid rom, do you think lollipop could use abit of the old experince of paranoid just incase the new updates coming out of lollipop pose abit too much of difficulty?... I really would love to see this awesome lollipop interface you've given us a chance to experience on a paranoid kind of feel...u know... Also, compared to how light paranoid is, the kitkat and others seem to perform under alot of pressure. My tab practically gets really warm when watching a video on low screen light and a minimized volume. These things are scaring the crap out of me so I've reverted back to paranoid. Would love to have a positive feedback, hopefully... Once again, Thank you for the work you've done so far.. You're aweSome!

My laptop got stolen recently.. Really wanted to tinker with this new build. now I have to do that directly from my tab somehow...really depressing and stressful but all goes well, hoping for a better future with cm 12.. :cyclops:
I Need Multi-User Support
Thank you Daniel. I love it!
I hope that the multi-user support will be added in the next build. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
Happy New Year!
test results for 5/1
very usable but not too stable, random crashes, auto restart, freezing
apps start fast but then lag a little
over all almost can be used as daily drive other than lag and random random crash and reboot
miss xposed and themes engine, lollipop has an annoying green-white theme ,yuck
Some issues with 10th Jan build
Hey Daniel,
Firstly, thanks a ton for your hard work. I check this forum on daily basis to check out new builds if any. I really love your work. I am still using my 3 year old tab just because of you.
I have installed the the 10th Jan build. There is one major issue I want to report. When I leave the tablet on for sometime untouched on charging or anything. I come back and try to use it at the moment the screen never switches on. I have to push the power button and hard restart the device again.
It seems to be dying out after going into deep sleep and need to be restarted to start using again.
If I am missing some solution for this please let me know so i can fix this. Otherwise this new build and new kernel is awesome. Even the speed of device has tremendously improved.
Ravi
reboot into recovery
hi
I installed this cyanogen rom on my P6800 , but in "Rom Manager" app i couldn't Reboot to Recovery.
when i press "Reboot to Recovery" my tab doesn't reboot!!!!!!!
Great Rom
This ROM is by far better than kitkat on many ways...and its much more stable... So far everything works perfectly...the only small thing is, I think lollipop is abit too heavy on the tab 7.7. Cm 12, I'm really enjoying the feel... Thanks Dan.
So how can lollipop feel lighter but with the same features? In terms of its memory management, speed at which it can process one or more things at a time and considering where tab 7.7 is coming from, it doesn't seem all that simple...
Also, you we could tell you if there were any problems.. No distortion or anything but there are minor flickers which kinda scares me..I hope its nothing. The flashlight function don't work. Any gapps higher than the micro version, I get this error "insufficient internal storage-aborting installation'. I use the latest TWRP.
Is it possible to get a camera app with photosphere? I really love that function in a camera..
Everything else works just fine...WiFi works better on da kk versions and much better on da lollipop (cm12). Like I said from the beginning, seems the lollipop weighs the tabs overall performance down a lot.. I couldn't find anything in the root folder that helped so maybe you could teach me a thing or two about that area on android lollipop...
I have a tab gtp6810
Thanks
And o, the previous ROMs that some people complained about the charging running down the battery instead while plugged in and running at least one app like the browser... I did a power supply reset in the terminal... I don't know if worked but I'll give a feedback here if I see any improvements for everyone using any of Dan HK ROMs...
fifth try
Well, I only installed the cm12 without gapp.. I'm going to fix in the apps I want from the gapp... So far, running abit smoother than with gapp install along cm12 together... For the torch, I'm going to take the one from cm11 and try make it a system app.. Also, the camera...the flash only works when every time you open anew and take the first picture or select through the flash settings.. Just like all the previous ROMs from carbon to slimkat... Only PAC and paranoid 4.2.2 are the last that works the way you would want..but graphical interface ain't as good as this..hehe
---------- Post added at 09:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:57 PM ----------
The dalvik heap size allocations...do they work through the system's available storage, ram or some separate caches space separated? I sort of change those area abut..there was abit of change around the graphic performance and processor...couldn't really tell but it felt abit different... Will those sort of changes affect anything negatively as well somewhere in the custom firmware? I want to be careful I'm not doing anything wrong...
runs good
I think it run better without gapp....only difference is, you won't have all the Google service interface eating away your battery and stuffs power related.. Also, recent app button, the apps take abit more time for the close sign to appear... Its basic issues still remain like the missing torch function But in all, it works very good.. U think this new cm 12 could actually become an OS on it own? I've been going round the web seeing as how Aroma installer are popularly used with different cool installer interfaces... Cm12 so far ROCKS!
For those having battery charging problems, get the stock recovery (it worked for me) and flash in the pit file for ur device as well, seems to help somehow...you can try sbl bin but I mean, its just an idea... I lost my laptop so I can't manage going back and forth from friends houses all the time...
few cm12
Bluetooth..pair and connects with some av control. Didn't realize the tab was my PC now. Sending files..-"no bluetooth device found" (while paired or with the extra a/v connection).
Tab turned off, trying to charge under twrp 2.8.2.1, "battery draw jpg cannot load" or sth like that. Not sure what that means but a white one shows charging after the error.
Mobile Odin can't see nor access external SD.
On first install, Google search appears after turning off in launcher settings, open recent apps tab (show up here insteadv big and white), go back and turn on in setting,"heeeyyy, you're here!! Welcome back to my screen..lol".. So its not ICS version I see on the home screen.
Live paper on, turned on Bluetooth first time and device restarts. Surfing over 5 tabs on browser at the same time, restarts. Also, using an app like torrent to download one file while watching a movie (tab get very warm & freezes completely and unresponsive till I keep on power button till it restarts the device)
But I'm only testing all this with a fresh installation and gapp 5 beta 12 nano. I haven't changed any settings at all. Just want to help out with more feedbacks on overall performance.
Most responses to apps opening and closing can be slow in moments where about at least three or four apps have been opened.. So I have to manage an app at a time while clearing my recent apps. And surface a page or two unless with a different browser like UC browser, its okay.
Colors, everything feels cool. Flashed lollipop font and system sounds (don't remember where I got them but I'm sure it was on xda). It sort of felt like I was using the kitkat version that's why I changed them. Runs and feels abit better than my first time install cm12.
I don't know if there are any memory forced to leak but maybe you could hover around to see if something's is abit off about it from what I've said so far.
So between recovery and custom ROM, seems there's some unstable thing going on from within their interactions... I don't know, maybe recovery also needs an update....I guess...?... Well, you're the expert so these are my user experiences so far... Will let you know if anything else comes up
This new lollipop really is different. I can't even tell in the lib files are supposed to be in the apps or lib folder or both when trying out an app like the latest Google camera. I've tried but I only get as far as paranoma and it stops working at photosphere. Sometimes it opens but da circle has no use when the pictures are supposed to be taken. Read from file to file, I must say...I have never been this lost in android...hahahahaha
updating on cm12 issues that could help, hopefully
Lollipop looks light but feels heavy on performance i think cos of how much memory it over-uses.. Maybe its the kernels or sth so I'll wait for what Daniel will help us with to understand more (thank you again Daniel. U're awesome!)
What I noticed today was, when the memories goes to its limits in usage is some areas I think, the tab glitches, slows down abit and restarts if anything else opens... I was only watching a movie series (homeland TV series) from my 32GB SD card, and downloading a ROM from media fire with all my apps closed but the system running. No other recent tabs were opened.. Before I continue, I limited the memory use so between 5mb to 256mb does seem enough unless u r da type that multitasks a lot more (but that should not the case, right?...weird tho). I did this cos when I increased it, with a bit extra apps (about 1 or 2 etrxa apps running), its kept either freezing badly or restarting. So I just had to test this to see if its me or this new OS is going to be hard to work with...
Secondly...I use MX player a lot... Sometimes hardware works but when switched to software decoding and back to hardware, suddenly hardware is not supported unless I close the current video or app itself and start again. But will still fail at hardware decoding and sometimes restarts unexpectedly during software decoding.. Too much info?...haha... Naaah.. Lol
JESUS! The cursor is abit difficult to move around with a huge finger that covers it completely...lol
In case you are wondering,"where did this guy come from"...I assure u, I have been a fan of xda for about a year or two maybe or more cos I remember using my first tab its been almost or over two years. I only recently joined cos android has fascinated me in many ways and by having alot of great customization options and being an open source if I may add... I'm happy old devices get to meet the challenges that people have doubts on.. I'm grateful that I still use some of my old devices with a lot of confidence...

Really? How did you install it? And did you do a factory reset after install ROM or clearing cache and dalvik cache? Have u tried a long press on the power button to shutdown first?
As for ROM manager, I can't say for sure I can help u with that but I also noticed some things like mobile odin don't fully run all its functions on my tab p6810 with the p6800 kernal I found for mobile Odin to work o my tab.. I can't see the external SD unless i copy da file I want to use to the internal storage... So cm12 is still a working progress I guess.. Refer to the original cm12 post...Daniel said sth about the we probably will have to end up with our own new custom kernel to use I think due some out dated resources...For now, if no options works for u... If u know how to open the tab gently to take out the battery's connection and back in to enable u go into recovery to do a back up just in case... The u can sort out the ROM properly...and only if ur tab doesn't allow u to shut it down manually... At ur own risk..u can watch YouTube videos on how to handle ur tab p6800 with care when opening..
I've used twrp recovery and cwm recovery (which cwm needs to be rooted before flashing ROM), they all worked well for me so far.. A feww issues I've already pointed out but could be sorted eventually..
I searched da web for info and made a few changes to my build prop. Would share with u if interested...but remember, I'm only using the WiFi version of ur tab..
---------- Post added at 02:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:57 PM ----------
I think the last cwm recovery works abit better (if in case u have charging charging issues and don't want to use the original stock recovery).. U flash that and root ur device through the recovery, restart recovery to root or fix root then install cm12 with mini or nano gapps 5.0. Battery draw is missing in ROM but don't worry, it will still charge.
I want to share my super su which I flashed to root the device but I can't get the upload button to pop up any window to find the file on my tab in the system's browser on the cm12. Well, all the same...Good luck!
I wonder if this is what they call a memory leak...
Three words...poor memory management... For an old device, lollipop settings over use tab hardware resources..though its performance is better in terms of gaming.
OK...I said I made a few changes to my build.prop...well, here they are:
#
ro.sf.lcd_density=180
ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1
#
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=84
dalvik.vm.heapstartsize=7m
dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit=49m
dalvik.vm.heapsize=294m
dalvik.vm.heaptargetutilization=0.72
dalvik.vm.heapminfree=788k
dalvik.vm.heapmaxfree=7m
dalvik.vm.lockprof.threshold=600
These are lines I made changes to (p6810)
******
I'm using nova launcher as system launcher
Flash some L fonts and sound I found on YouTube
And boot animation
Just to try get it to feel like lollipop as much as possible..
I notice a white line that flickers between long minutes like about 45mins during a movie playing on my MX player.. It also happens during charging the device when running twrp I guess...i see that on my lockscreen when on landscape mode...don't really know what that means...but I take out the charger for some time and plug it back and it stops for a long while but I switched to cwm.. Da MX player thing still shows though..
I removed that performance tweak app... Can't risk overheating...sorryyyy...I get scared a lot when I know my device hardware has its limits and way of coding to the responsiveness to whatever android versions out there....and I guess it all depends on the hardware make or build period and its sources..
Well, catch ya'll later... Still waiting for kernel and/or some ideas...
Cm file manager don't do much aside from viewing files and folder or install apps..
I tried material manager pro...that too crashes when I try to select everything at once in a folder...have no clue what that means either but will make time for the apps later.. Right now, cm12 needs a good workout till I feel its stable enough for extra updates from Daniel and others who enjoy helping g out....
PEACE!!
tasty lollipop
arrrghhhh! Wish I had an 'F5' button on my Google keyboard!!!
Just messing around..lol... But seriously though, you use it for abit with different apps running and closed...then remove all recent tabs...restart, you have most apps you opened which a lot are related to Google running as background processes......mmmmm....didn't realize the system takes me abit too seriously...Haha
So now, I have 'ccleaner' and 'the cleaner' installed. Ccleaner runs... 561.6mb ram of 770.97mb used. Okaaaay..........analyze....clean processes, empty folders, cache....no changes to memory.....awkward...lol..
Now, 'the cleaner' app- analyze, 197mb or sth to be recovered...nice! - 'clean'.......384.84mb in use...shows in ccleaner....wow!
This is.....sth......
Ok so, system bootup........Google+ and YouTube are background processes.... Sometimes 'music' pops up....weird....I.....don't think I'm ready to dance just yet... But after a while they get tired and leave, leaving YouTube behind.......maybe it wants me to watch xda videos....... Ok, so Google app pops up when I've l've literary stopped all its functions... I haven't force closed it, no no no...well....not yet but I will....
I once saw Google service and Google play service pop up...are they related?
Also, I would like to make guess or assumption; I think it takes abit longer to load everything compared to previous ROMs... Even when its already booted to home screen..
Ok, so some was last night's observations.. I think this gapp is going to make me saaad.
Will use only cm12 without gapp and run the Google apps manually instead to avoid multiple background processes at once...gms core.....interesting and can be quiet a strain...o well.....laterrrrrrr

Xiaomi Mi A1 issues and missing features for Android 8.0 Oreo January 2018 update
I wonder if XDA users have found something else.
Click CONFIRM for the bug reports that you want to be fixedThe issues below are confirmed to be present on all Xiaomi Mi A1 devices for the January 2018 Oreo update.
[NEW] [Android 8.0 January] If the screen is off but the phone is not locked notifications make the screen light up but there are no notifications on the screen! That's a January 2018 regression. Bug report.
[NEW] [Android 8.0 January] SMS text messages backup doesn't work: "Waiting to backup". Bug report.
[NEW] [Android 8.0 December] RCS Phone/Service instead of Android System in battery stats - that's an Oreo regression. Bug report.
[NEW] [Android 8.0 December] Launcher3 bug: icons shape can only be changed if Developer mode is enabled. Bug report.
[NEW] [Android 8.0 December] The phone ignores the Contacts app settings and always uses but doesn't show SIM contacts. Bug report.
White noise for both bluetooth and analogue (3.5mm jack) headphones (slightly improved in the December 2017 update). Discussion. Older discussion. Bug report. Older bug report.
Low light camera performance is horrible for photos and especially for videos due to missing EIS and Camera2API.
High Android System and Android OS power usage/battery drain (reproducible under Oreo as well). Bug report.
Things which Mi A1 users and developers are craving for:
Camera2 API and EIS are not enabled even though both are perfectly supported by software and hardware but disabled only because ... no idea - not to compete with Pixels, I guess. When rooted the solution is to edit build.prop and add persist.camera.eis.enable=1 and set persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1 ). Bug report.
Add an option to configure display color temperature: there are two very different matrices for MI A1 one of which has a coldish (bluish) hue, another one is warmish (reddish). That also affects how photos and videos are percieved.
Wi-Fi: 40MHz bandwidth for 2.4GHz mode is disabled in software even though hardware is capable. For rooted devices it can be reenabled by editing /data/misc/wifi/WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini and setting GChannelBondingMode24GHz = 1. Bug report.
The new Google Camera App with HDR+.
There's no option to swap "Back" and "Apps Overview" capacitive buttons. If it's stock Android why it follows Xiaomi's conventions? Bug report.
FM module is present but there's no app for it and it's not exposed to apps (aside from dialling *#*#6484#*#*).
Edit 2018-01-30: The kernel sources for the MI A1 have finally been released - unfortunately they are for Nougat.
Nice to have features:
Gestures: double tap to wake, lift to wake and others which are present in Google Pixels.
Configuring the lighting time of the physical keys.
Making it possible to keep the physical keys always on and configuring their brightness level (also depending on the time of a day).
Bug and feature requests which have been rejected by Xiaomi moderators (what?!):
[Android 8.0] A visual glitch: WiFi/Cellular Indicators have additional dynamic traffic flow symbols which shift the icons to the left of the indicator. Bug report. Here's an app to fix a jumping traffic indicator.
[Android 8.0] "App network access" feature (which allowed to configure per-app WiFi/Cellular access) is no longer present. Bug report.
[Android 8.0] Scheduled power on and off is no longer present. Bug report.
There's a completely unnecessary 1.5GB SWAP partition which causes a tear and wear of the internal storage. Bug report.
These issues need verification:
Some people experience lags and jitters while scrolling, including scrolling in the system settings ( https://youtu.be/wu4CR9tOw8o ). The source of the problem is not known at the moment and the issue doesn't look widespread, i.e. only certain units are affected. Installing the Google Now launcher mostly fixes it.
[Needs root to check] CPU usage monitors cause disk write activity (probably an Android OS bug - need a confirmation from Pixel owners). Discussion. Bug report.
Fixed in the January 2018 update:
[Android 8.0] If you enabled DND mode in volume change UI in Android 7.0(using system UI tuner), in Android 8.0 you will either see empty space or DND icon will be cut off. Bug report.
[Android 8.0] You cannot interact with ambient display notifications. Also if your phone is not locked but the screen is off, you cannot answer an incoming call from the lock screen. Bug report.
[Android 8.0] There's no UI/setting to enable fingerprint swipe notification gesture. Bug report.
[Android 8.0] Under some circumstances the GPS icon might stuck. Bug report.
[Android 8.0] Certain users report that BlueTooth is seemingly draining their batteries. Bug report.
Bad audio for video recording. When rooted the solution is to edit build.prop and set ro.qc.sdk.audio.fluencetype=fluencepro. Bug report.
SIM is "HD Capable" icon..
Erroneous "rapid charging" message.
[Android 8.0 December] Lock screen notifications font doesn't match system settings - it's much bigger. Bug report.
Fixed in the December 2017 update:
Pressing the Home button while being on a second/third/fourth launcher screen doesn't return to the primary home screen. Bug report.
Fingerprint scanner became quite slower with November 2017 update. Bug report.
Complete changelog for updates: three(!) changes for a 1GB update just don't cut it. A better changelog was posted for the December update.
Fixed in the Oreo update:
It's not possible to install the Google Phone app (it does support dual SIM phones). Good bye SPAM protection and caller ID. Why? Bug report.
Xiaomi Mi A1 Contacts app is a different app than Google Contacts for no obvious reasons. Bug report.
Google Assistant sometimes doesn't speak. Discussion. Bug report, another bug report.
The camera app uses a zoom lens instead of a normal lens for recording video. Discussion. Bug report.
Some people report that the fingerprint scanner is still not as snappy as in the October 2017 update. Discussion.
To be updated.
Xiaomi needs to fix all this ASAP! Mi A1 has potential, but it seems like they are undermining the device on purpose.
The OP has been updated.
I agree to every single point you have made. The biggest concern for me is the battery, the difference between the battery backup of Oct and Nov update is almost of 1 hour - 1 hour 30 mins of SOT, which is huge!
Also i like how you have pointed out the dialer and contacts application differences, which is a thing I have wondered from the start. Why the hell not just included Google's own dialer or atleast the contacts application since this whole project is a brainchild of Google itself!? Moreover that contacts application sucks, it shows duplicates for Google and WhatsApp and even Truecaller contacts while calling, so a single contact has 3 duplicates for no damn reason, without any option to sort the same out! The default dialer too doesn't show contact picture for incoming or outgoing calls. I wonder why Xiaomi is hell bent on ruining such an awesome device.

If you want it solved and not only to complain, you can fix some of the issues in few minutes. XDA used to be place for mods and tips & tricks, not for whining (MIUI forum is obviously the right place for that).
1. No option to remap "Back" and "Apps Overview" capacitive buttons.
It's not possible even on stock Android. Just install button mapper by flar2 and configure all HW buttons as you wish.
2. No camera2 API and no EIS even though both perfectly supported by software and hardware but disabled only because ...
Install Magisk with appropriate module and modded Gcam.
3. It's not possible to install Google Dialer.
Install Magisk with appropriate module, then install Google dialer from play store.
4. Xiaomi Mi A1 Contacts App is a different app than Google Contacts for no obvious reasons.
Install Google contacts from play store.
5. FM module is present but there's no app for it and it's not exposed to apps (aside from dialling *#*#6484#*#*).
Install Magisk and 3rd party Radio app.
6. Bad audio for video recording.
Install Magisk and appropriate module.

With all due respect, you may be rich and would not mind spending 15k on a phone to explore "mods and tips & tricks" in it's first 2 months of use and you may even have all the time in the world to spend on XDA and find the "mods and tips & tricks" for every phone you buy off your money; But, there are people who buy the device and expect things to be good after spending a sum of money which may be more/less according to personal preferences and who would not want to unlock and root so soon. Especially more so when the phone is advertised as a Google initiative Android One phone. I have been on XDA long enough and I don't need someone telling what does it stand for and what counts as "whining" and which forum should I go to do it. I am not fond of throwing bread crumbs to every little pesky things that comes in the way; and I am supporting the OP on the thread on points he have made.
Thank you for your time to point out the obvious solutions.
Ah, also, it seems I have run out of bread for you good sir. Good day!
Dialer and Contacts apps are AOSP ones, apparently Android one uses AOSP ones and Google ones are used on Pixels.

Yes, I do spend time on XDA before I purchase a phone. If there is a risk that phone will have low interest in XDA community or it's not possible to root it, I simply pass it and buy something else. It's about priorities, few hours at XDA will save me from weeks/months with phone which I don't like. I would advise the same to you, especially if you don't want to root and mod your phone. Better luck next time with choosing your perfect cheap phone.

I couldn't say better. I don't want to root and mod my phone right off the bat just because Google and Xiaomi cannot properly collaborate. Maybe three/four years later, when its support has stopped, I will root and mod it to hell, but right now I prefer stock experience and locked bootloader because it gives me a feeling of safety and security. I'm not afraid to do banking on my phone, I'm not afraid to make online purchases. Once the phone is rooted, all the hell breaks loose and I no longer can trust my phone.
MI A1 DETAILED REVIEW AFTER COUPLE OF DAYS OF USAGE.
Pros :
1) Potrait shots are exceptionally well in good light conditions.
2) HDR works pretty well in Daylight.
3) The Dirac Sound built in is fabulous both in terms of speakers & on headphones.
4) Build quality is amazing.
5) Voice quality is very very clear.
Cons:
1) Night mode is really really bad.(Too much noise & Shaky pictures are captured ,loses focus most of the time)
2) Lack of image stabilization while clicking pictures in HDR mode as well as normal mode.
(Slight shaking of phone loses focus in HDR mode and makes pictures blurry)(MUST NEEDED IN NEXT UPDATE)
3) HDR mode in artificial light feels too much exposed over bright light and image feels too artificial.
4) No Electronic image stabilization (EIS) while shooting video its too shaky & not upto the mark.(MUST NEEDED IN NEXT UPDATE)
5) 2X shots are not that great when zoomed even 50% and also are much noisy at times.
6) The UI is smooth but feels at times having less transiston.(Forced swipe has to be done from up to down & from down to up)
7) Selfies are bit artificial at times want it more natural and too much beautification is being applied.
8) In phone app while clearing the call history the app crashes and doesn't clear the call history. It force stops.
Oreo beta testing is worthless at the moment. Beta testers all praise how wonderful it is without mentioning any bugs. Either Re Tardos or just unfit for the job.
I have to say I've been very pleased with the December update. The phone feels much snappier coming from the November update which was a mess with the home button issues. Headphone hissing has also been fixed for me in the December update.

There is a 3rd party app for radio? Can you give link for this? Thanks.
Is it just me? The hissing noise is much more audible since Dec update. Using Mi In Ear Pro HD. Previously its there but just not that audible. Now its pretty obvious

For me it's pretty much the same, didn't notice any improvement or degradation with December update. Still can't use some of my headphones without impedance adapter.
Anyone has any ideas why the photos are 9mp instead of 12mp? It is very frustrating that one fourth of the camera megapixels are deleted somehow.

Your camera frame would be 16:9(Full screen), change it to 4:3(standard). And your pics will be 12mp.

Hey,
thanks for the quick reply, I did change it and now it is ok. I couldn't check the content of the album as it said it is empty, but whatever.
Does sRGB work for anyone? Is it a recognized bug or we will never get proper sRGB colors?
Hello, after december update i have noticed that when i am on mobile data i can't download any apps from google play. I tried different solutios(hard reset, clear cache, clear data, blabla) and nothing really works. Do some of you experience that?
https://www.droid-life.com/2019/09/17/report-samsung-launching-android-10-beta-next-month/
do we need to subscribe beta program?
Probably... The details haven't been announced yet.
Any new about it
Looks like the beta is currently available in Korea, and will probably be available through the Samsung Members app later this week.
But I am from Argentine. And here don't come the beta. Any advice to get it?
Just curious, do any of you think if I change my location with a VPN I will be able to get the Beta that was already released in Korea?
I try and when I change my vpn and open samsung members the APK fails
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s10-plus/how-to/galaxy-s10-sm-g975f-official-oneui2-10-t3980879
Check this
It's currently available in the US through Samsung Members for Sprint and T-Mobile only.
One UI 2 beta adds spacing at the bottom of every app which serves no purpose. There are lot of bugs here and there but I have not noticed any app crashes as such.
I am from spain, and I have just installed the beta too.
It has some lag, screen mode seems that always is in vivid instead natural, and still sometimes the screen wake up like if you tap the power button. There are a lot to polish.
Regards
I joined the UI 2 beta but found it much more buggy than previous Samsung betas (like 8 -> 9) and quite honestly there was no discernable difference for my use case scenario. Samsung does a very good job polishing its take on Android so that the next version doesn't seem that much of an upgrade. It reminds me of iOS and macOS upgrades where you need to read up about the differences otherwise you might not realise what was new. Given that is the case I decided to withdraw from the beta program and revert to Android 9 using Odin. For me there were no advantages and many disadvantages in running UI 2 at this stage. I got display glitches like mentioned above, neither Google Pay nor Samsung Pay worked, the navigation bar kept reverting to the old on-screen icon system and UI 2 did not play well with my launcher of choice, Nova. Yes, there are 'solutions' like not using Nova and maybe doing a hard reset after upgrading, but for me it just isn't worth the hassle for no obvious return.
Beta ROM?
Anyway to force subscribe to the beta program, or just get the ROM to flash manually?

Just flash the ROM through Odin and you're done. The only downside is that each time a new beta or the final release comes out, you have to flash it with the help of Odin because the OTA updates are tied to the Samsung Members app.

BTW, what about the image quality of the S10e in Android 10 Beta 6? Did they improve it compared to Android 9 Pie?
Hi everybody,
I've decided to tweak my old Tab 2 (AT&T SGH-i497 running 4.1.2 stock ROM) for speed, making it fairly usable again. After rooting and flashing twrp I've made a backup and started deleting all pre-loaded bloatware. After that, the tablet seemed a bit faster so I've deleted Google play services, Play store and most of google apps. Also, all apps related to cellular connection / SIM card were deleted since I'm not planning on using those features.
This is the list of apps currently on the tablet:
android system
com.android.calendar
com.android.certinstaller
com.android.chrome (needed for Google Maps Go)
com.android.clipboardsaveservice
com.android.contacts
com.android.defcontainer
com.android.keychain
com.android.MtpApplication (frozen - needed only when connecting the tablet to the PC)
com.android.packageinstaller
com.android.Preconfig
com.android.providers.contacts
com.android.providers.downloads
com.android.providers.downloads.ui
com.android.providers.media
com.android.providers.security
com.android.providers.settings
com.android.providers.tasks
com.android.settings
com.android.systemui
com.diotek.screen_capture
com.dsmartapps.root.kerneltweaker
com.flyersoft.moonreader
com.google.android.apps.mapslite
com.google.android.deskclock
com.google.android.tts
com.here.app.maps
com.infraware.PolarisOfficeStdForTablet
com.jrummyapps.rootbrowser.classic
com.mobsnake.verticalgallery
com.painless.pc Power toggles
com.sec.android.app.camera
com.sec.android.app.controlpanel
com.sec.android.app.popupcalculator
com.sec.android.preloadinstaller
com.teslacoilsw.launcher (Nova launcher)
eu.chainfire.supersu
mark.via.gp (Via Browser)
org.mozilla.firefox
org.pocketworkstation.pckeyboard (Hacker's keyboard)
stericson.busybox
Before all mods (after boot) used memory was around 700Mb, now's around 250Mb.
Current settings:
CPU gov: Performance
I/O gov: cfq
GPU gov: Performance
I'm posting this in hope that someone can suggest more ways to reduce memory usage even more. Maybe using lighter apps (compatible with 4.1.2) that can replace the ones I have installed, disabling receivers, etc...
I couldn't find a better kernel and ROM for this variant, maybe someone knowledgeable can help building a optimized kernel with overclocking capabilities, newer governors, etc...
Thank you all and stay safe!
I've managed to get rid of the Mini Apps application and the Mini Apps themselves following the guide posted by miketoasty (Thanks buddy!):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692173
After boot, used memory is around 230Mb now!
Occasionally, I'm planning to use the tablet as a wifi extender so I've installed a hotspot app on the tablet, but there's no shared internet on the connected clients. I've never had this issue on 4.4+, is this related to 4.1? Is there a hack to make this work?
Also, what kernel manager works best with Tab 2 from your experience?
Over a hundred views and not one single reply? Come on people!
When the battery reaches 5%, the screen dims and can't adjust the brightness from settings. Found a temporary solution here (Thanks 0x6A7232):

I can tell you what I've done to improve performance:
Don't install gapps
Use L speed with everything set to performance (except for ram manager settings that seems to mess with stability)

If you read the first post you'll see that I have no gapps...
Today's update:
1. A bit more memory released by turning off some services (telemetry, analytics and pretty much anything that starts with com.google.xxxx or com.facebook.xxxx) and some receivers using Service Disabler. After boot, free memory is around 210-220Mb.
2. I've disabled: "com.android.inputdevices" and so far so good.
3. I've installed L-speed as suggested by lukigno95 and disabled the kernel manager.
Does anyone know how to remove the mobile network signal icon from the statusbar?
Is there a video calling app that works for this tablet with decent video quality?
Hi all,
Is there anyone that can help me getting overclocking an undervolting added to the kernel?
Thank you in advance!
which rom are u on?
Stock?
yes, stock 4.1.2 as mentioned in the first post...
What will help now is:
1. overclocking and undervolting added to the kernel
2. better I/O schedulers and CPU governors added to the kernel
3. remove the mobile network signal icon from the status bar since I don't use a SIM card
I hope someone knowledgeable from XDA can help, thank you in advance for reading this!
Thanks
Hi all,
I found a better launcher with low memory footprint, the issue is it only works on Android 4.2 or newer.
Essential Launcher | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository
F-Droid is an installable catalogue of FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) applications for the Android platform. The client makes it easy to browse, install, and keep track of updates on your device.
f-droid.org
Will it be possible to make it work on 4.1.2? The source code is available, experts, please chime in!
Thank you!

Tab 2 already has 4.2.2 right? or did they update only few variants?
The Android version of the tablet was mentioned 4 times in this post. You asked about the rom twice...are you replying just to increase your post count? If you can't contribute, please stop posting in this thread.

Sorry its been quite sometime and no why tf would someone want to increase post count :v getting it run on 4.1 would be quite hard maybe the dev choose 4.2 as 4.1 was missing somethings? can you not use custom roms as you will get next to no app support for 4.1.2 anyways if you want to still use 4.1.2 and optimise it good luck!
