[TIP] Firmware 3.14.531.17 TMOUS S-OFF Moonshine - HTC One S

Just a quick tip for all users with a refurb or who updated their firmware to 3.14.531.17 on T-Mobile. You can achieve S-OFF with the latest firmware.
Steps I took:
-Run RUU 3.14.531.17 ie you go back to stock - make a nandroid if you want to keep your current rom etc I did not as I moved from CM10.2 to Beanstalk 10/31. I did not try using a custom rom, though some say it will work.
-Follow all instructions on Moonshine site's directions
-Let it run.
-Works just fine

I have stock HTC One S from T-Mobile 3.14.531.17 710RD but there is no Moonshine version listed that matches. Closest is T-MOB Windows 3.14.531.11. Will this work? What did you take?

Make sure you have the TMOUS S4 ville NOT S3. Check the CPU with Quadrant App (from Google play store) if it 1.5Ghz (~1500Mhz) its the S4.
This is the Moonshine I used.
Code:
http://moonshine.io/download/0tzu3p4b3udb.html
GL and remember to read all of the instructions a couple times before you start. Make sure you have everything you need. Then recheck it.

Thank you very much! This worked on my phone.

I has success at last with Ubuntu on flash drive. Now I am -S-Off but noticed a bug. I don't have a mobile data plan and turned Mobile data off but the status bar keeps showing the data indicator. This was not the case prior to Moonshine. Is there a fix for this? Not that it seems to matter much but it should be gone with setting off.

So it seems like Moonshine does not work on Windows with the stock T-Mobile rom. It looks like you need to do it on Ubuntu or a linux machine.
What was your linux flash boot setup? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm I never noticed that before, I dont have any need to turn it off so never ran into that before. But it does do it on mine as well so i think its a moonshine thing. Might question the official thread about it.

Moonshine worked just fine from my Win7 x64 machine.
What issues are you having when running moonshine from Windows?

If I remember correctly (it was like a month ago) it got to like step 3 or 5 or something and then it just did "..........................." forever.

Correct, did not work for me with Win7 and with Ubuntu worked the first time. I stared with putting Ubuntu on a memory stick by following this instruction:
http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows
Then I booted Ubuntu from USB stick and opened the terminal.
I followed the moonshine instructions posted here:
http://moonshine.io/instructions/
Worked great.

I do remember that the "..................................." did seem to go on for-fracking-ever but about 10 minutes of cleaning the house and it was golden.

I would assume it works as moonshine has a exe just for Euro phones. But as I dont have one I cannot test.

Does somone has a updated guide for this. I have done nothing to my phone yet its running on the standard rom.
this post might help
So your wanting to root, s off, and install this custom rom? To direct you to proper guide first you need to know your H boot version. To find your H boot version you pull battery, put battery back in, press volume down and power at the same time, a white screen with information will pop up. At the top of the screen will be your H boot version. Please list your H boot version here then we can refer you to the proper guide for your version.

I would install 4 Ext cause with it you can flash custom Rom with S-On.
just followed ganesh's guide.....
new to HTC Sensation XE (previous Samsung)
New to ADB/Fastboot (had nice ODIN before)
Wire Hack - not that bad
Just download all files needed and FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. Literally just did it in about 30-40 minutes. NOT hard, but not easy either
I did the S-off (bear version)(also did auggie2k CID mod) and then his one click root

I unlocked my phone via the htcdev site wich went fine but the fastboot and -bear are not working properly?
Is it maybe because of a update from htc??

Can someone tell me how to install this? I know zip files - flash from recovery, but these are exe files. After installing this rom, will my s-off newest hboot and 4ext recovery be gone? I am quite new in these stuff, thank you for your help. I have spent much time in making my device s-off... It was pain for a week because my hboot version was too new.

I knw this post is seriously old but nobody replied so i thought i would add my bit for anyone else who wondered the same.
The files on that site are ruu exe files yes but if you run the exe and wait for it to extract all the files you then go to your usernames temp folder on c drive and find the temp folder it extracted to and pull the zip file named 'rom' from it.
as for what it would do to your s-off status from flashing a stock rom, i dont know.

Android 4.4? Wow. Good to know. About going back to 2.3, its a personal thing. I am not comfortable entering my bank passwords in a custom ROM and the official 4.0 is a burden on the phone. So, I decided to go back to 2.3.
I've never tried the official ice rom although I did get on very well with another ics rom I ran untill jelly bean and kitkat roms became stable. I understand your concerns about security, its for that very same reason that all the banks apps will not install on a rooted device.
I dont use any of that stuff, I leave all that to the wife so, im free to do what I want worrie free lol.
another bonus is that my desire s is not my every day phone (I have a HTC Win phone for that) so nothing personal, no photos that matter, no contacts, nothing is on the device.
I use the desire a bit like a teeny little tablet if you like.
Android is better than win phone in a LOT of respects but win phone is faster and 100% stable all of the time so that gets used as my phone plus it has a physical keyboard and I absolutely hate using on screen keyboards!

You could flash a custom Rom that it is similar to stock Rom so it could have more features on it. So you should try different sense roms.

No, that is incorrect. You are able to edit the system partition but not radio or rpm, tz, rcdata etc. with an unlocked bootloader but no S-OFF. S-OFF enables you to do anything and edit any partition.

I think everything you need is the relocked bootloader.
Yeah, the ruu will write the recovery back to stock itself. The only thing you need to do to run an ruu is relock the bootloader.
Keep in mind you will lose root if you run the ruu.
Thanks and yes i am very well aware of that and if he tryes to flash custom roms like Viper S,the phone boots just fine but there is no gsm signal,is it because of the kernel and can he use the stock cernel with the Viper rom ?

It sounds like it could be just a modem configuration problem. The first place I would check is: open up the dialer and type *#*#4636#*#* This will open a screen called "testing." Then go to "phone options" and scroll to the "preferred network type" option. Make sure that an option is picked that includes GSM. Be sure not to change any other options unless you know what they are for, this screen alters the core of the phone.
You also get to show off a hidden menu on your friends phone

it happen because the kernel is with write protection i.e. u can change the system partition ones but it be rolled back to stock after reboot
to avoid this you have to install a custom kernel with write protection disabled like Bullet proof kernel by flar( it is shared in forum have a look)

this is very wrong.
when u type: adb shell getprop "ro.cid"
it reads the cid stored in system\build.prop
in build.prop you can change to whatever you want.
the only way to make sure it's only throw fastboot.

SuperCID changes your Carrier ID so that you can flash any ROM using ANY RUU. For example, when the Google Edition stock HTC One is released in the Google store, it will cost $600+. When the RUU for it is released, you'll be able to use the RUU to turn your HTC One into a completely stock Google Edition One.

So what your'e saying is that I can go download any RUU from another HTC One forum and flash it using super CID to change my CID?
So using fastboot oem getvar writecid won't change the cid system wide on 4.2.2?

It does not matter it will work..I changed all of my cid's with hex editor only to find out it does not matter...it reports the old cid in some places because of when it was written ...if u flash a new ruu it will change plus its been reported that some did not hex edit all out and they still could flash everything

Careful with that, don't wander around flashing RUUs, doing so might also harm your device. Better to read into the topic of the RUU you are interested in carefully.

About
The WinDroid Toolkit is a Windows program built in Visual Studio using the C# programming language that simplifies the rooting process for many Android devices. The toolkit makes it easy to unlock your bootloader, flash a custom recovery and gain permanent root. It also includes other functions such as flashing kernels, pushing files and installing apps. If you find it helpful, give me a thanks and a donation if you can. If you find a bug or have a feature request, feel free to leave a reply. Thanks!

This is a GUI program built using C# in Visual Studio 2013 that takes advantage of ADB and Fastboot commands and puts them into an easy-to-use toolkit. I will be continually developing it and trying out new features, so feel free to request any features you may want. Keep in mind that I am only 16 and have only been coding in C# since June, so I may not be able to implement every requested feature, and if it is possible, I may require assistance from our more skilled members. Any and all criticism is welcome, from the handling of a certain function to the misalignment of a button. I'm a neat freak myself, so no issue is too small! I hope you enjoy the toolkit and I hope that I will be able to expand it further as time goes on. :fingers-crossed:

This is a Windows only program, although I'm looking into Mac and Linux ports for the future.

Right now, it is just a link to the Facepalm method with extra instructions, but I am working on a more in depth and easier to follow process based on that method for the next update. :good:

If you need help with that I could do a little something. I could build through java. Then it could reach all OS. If you want my help with that just pm me.

+100 for this, it would be awesome if we could have a 1 click S-Off
Hey just wondering, does this have the AT&T 3.18 root exploit or does that have to be run separately. I'm already rooted, I was just curious.

What OS are you running? My toolkit seems to have some issues with XP. It also requires .NET Framework 4.0, so check to see if you have that installed.

I'd love to, and have the capability to, but the S-OFF developers have specified that they don't want the exploits packed in to any programs, as they think it is easy enough already.

It does indeed have the root exploit for the AT&T 3.18 firmware. :good:
Just to let you know I used this and couldn't get supercid for some reason... So I obtained Supercid from the other method here and used this program to successfully unlock bootloader, install twrp, root, and s-off I suppose. Made things just that much easier when everything is together. Thanks again
HTCdev blocks superCid?
In this post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2137959 they talk about how superCid is now blocked by HTC dev or something and that you have to do some workaround. I was just wondering if this tool implements the new method for unlocking your bootloader or if you need to use some other method. Apparently HTC doesn't want anyone having root cause they make the hardest phones to root lol. my Samsung GS3 was waaaaaayyyyy easier haha. Just wondering if this tool works with superCid still or if htcdev has blocked it somehow. Also, if there is some other method for gaining superCID, which at the moment im not even sure what superCID does, could someone direct me to a easy guide for attaining it? And maybe also explain why superCID is needed haha? I understand the bootloader unlocking and what not. Also why is it so important to have S-off? I rooted my old HTC G2 and I got S-off on it but I didn't really know why I needed it. Any and all help is appreciated!! Thanks!
Do you have to install the optional .net 4 updates to get this working in xp?

I believe the toolkit require .NET Framework 4.5, which means that XP may not be supported.

No work in my htc one x att continuous locked I try gain the superCID
Major update coming soon, with a 1 (possibly 2) Step S-OFF process built in! I may need some beta testers, as I can't test the process on my HOX+. :fingers-crossed:
