Question about multiple gmail accounts - General Questions and Answers

I have had a android phone for a couple of years now. I just recently got my wife an android phone. Is there a way we can link our gmail accounts or something like that so we can share all of the android apps I have purchased with my gmail account? Thanks

really annoying issue with gmail, help plz!

Hey guys,
I tried to find a solution for this...havent found one yet. I have 2 gmail accounts synced on my captivate (running perception 10). One of the accounts is a google apps account the goes with the email extension [email protected] Now ever since I added this account on my captivate all the mail shows up read on the phone and on the online gmail client. All new mail shows up as read and it is really turning into a problem because it is my work account and I need to know about the new emails as they come. I have tried reflashing, removing the account and adding it again and nothing has worked so far. Any one have any possible solutions?
I am having problems with g mail as well. It will not send emails out but I can receive with no problems. I tried the email client built into the phone and it sends out just fine.

are you using outlook (or any other client) to pull in mail from this address? My wife had this same exact issue and we had to change her gmail pop settings to "keep gmail's copy in the inbox" as opposed to "mark gmail's copy as read", which was set originally. So when Outlook pulled her emails in, it marks gmail's copy as read causing her phone's copy to be marked as read.
hope this helps.

multiple gmail account issue

ok so I have my personal gmail account that I use for everything such as google+, buying apps, ect. Then I have my student gmail account for school and i had both on my phone, however when I have both accounts on my phone every time there is an app that has an update when I click on the notification the market switches accounts on me from my personal one to my school account which does not contain the apps. Does any one know how to keep this from happening?
for the mean time I have just been using the other email app for my student email.
go to settings and clear data for market.. it will fix it .. worked for me

[Q] Linked email accounts

Hello,
I am 50 years old and have just got my first tablet so apologize if this is an obvious question/answer.
I am having a little difficulty with my email account.
I went to the email app and set up my Yahoo account. All the usual folders seem to be there eg: inbox, trash, sent etc & any folders I have set up but I can't find my contacts list - if I try to send an email I have to enter the address manually - it doesn't bring it up automatically after typing a couple of letters. This is very difficult as I don't remember peoples email addresses anyway. The only couple of addresses that do come up are friends on Skype, I don't have a Facebook account and don't have any intention of getting one either.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
You may better off creating a Gmail account and using the app from the Google play store.
You can signup here: https://accounts.google.com/SignUp?...s://mail.google.com/mail/&ltmpl=default&hl=en
You can download the Gmail app from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5nb29nbGUuYW5kcm9pZC5nbSJd
The contacts from this account will show up on the app.
Also, Gmail is provided by Google free of charge. It works faster than Yahoo and is also safer. Android is heavily integrated with android because Google owns Android.
I hope this helps.

[Q] Company Phone, personal Google account

I have had a personal Android phone since the G1, and have been using Gmail since the days when you needed an invitation. So my Google account is pretty robust.
I recently got an S3 from my employer and am contemplating the risks of signing in to my personal Google account on my work phone. I have bought lots of apps over the years so signing in as me would have a lot of advantages.
But I am concerned about what sort of access my employer might gain to my Google account, it's my life. I am pretty sure a remote wipe only effects the device, not my actual account in the cloud but i'm not 100% positive. Would my IT department be able to access my Gmail messages? We use Exchange, not Google for email. I have read a few things saying you should use a separate account for your work phone but they are talking about email accounts. I'm not using Google for my work email.

[Q] Adding HOTMAIL account on Galaxy S6

Hi all.
I've had just about every Galaxy flagship phone in the Samsung series and am certainly not a stranger on setting up accounts.
I have 2 hotmail.com email accounts, a business and personal. I tried setting up my personal entering details correctly and I get "authentication failed" ... Hmm, that's strange. I jump on a PC and CONFIRM the password I used was indeed correct. I tried setting up the account manually (POP3) which wasn't a problem, however the device has absolutely no interest trying to connect to my account and sync. It keeps telling me the OP3 server is not responding. Sorry Samsung, but I call bull****. It's like this any day of any week, too...
I have tried changing my password on the PC to something else. I then re-attempted the email set-up and received the same error...authentication failed. Now, google, gmail, yahoo, aol accounts (etc) ALL work fine. With absolutely NO explanation WHY this won't work and zero help from the internet or anyone else experiencing the same problem, I decide to try the OTHER hotmail account...enter the details and BOOM. It worked. So why in the blue f**king hell does ONE work and NOT the other?! Props to Samsung, they've really f*cked something up here - coz this has never been a problem on any phone I've used in the past.
Anyone have any ideas?
The device is running stock ROM and is rooted (problem also existed before root)

i gave up adding all my email accounts , on the phones last yr now I just use my gmail and for my other 2 email aco****s I forward them to gmail then when sending emails in gmail I can select which account I want to send from.
I had no problem adding a hotmail account. Are you trying to add them in Android's "Accounts" section, or to the Outlook app?

Like anyone does it - adding through the default email app on the phone...or settings - accounts - email - add new
Download the Exchange Services apk and install it. Reboot and then add the Hotmail account as an Exchange account in Gmail.
Do you kneed also the E-Mail APK from Google? If i install only the Exchange APK, i didnt see a additional Exchange Account in the Accounts Section of the Settings, if i try to add a new Account. Only the one which come preinstalled.

Obviously not like anyone does it, based on my question.
Have you tried getting the Outlook app and adding your accounts directly to the app rather than using the default email app and Android's account settings?

I didn't want to use additional apps, all emails in the one place only...otherwise defeats the purpose of having an all-in-one email add on a smartphone if you cannot add Hotmail, yahoo, aol (etc) in there together.

I downloaded and installedExchange APK (boomerang)? Installed, rebooted, added the account via 'accounts' under settings as an exchange email and it worked! Didn't need anything else. See below.

Hah! You champion! This actually worked. Unbelievable. I can't and even won't rack my brain trying to understand the retardation around this and the "work around" users must perform to setup a particular Hotmail/Live account. Thank you so much!

solution found for email setup (Hotmail)
I had problems setting up my Hotmail on the S6. The password it wanted was not my usual Hotmail login but an "app" password. I changed my Outlook/Hotmail password on a PC and then it sent me an email alerting me that I needed to update my "app" passwords with "fhrkdjfruofjrdlfl" (example) and then it easily connected Hotmail to my S6 using the standard email setup menus. Hope that helps somebody.

I have had this problem for the last 2 nights and on this forum, I read about signing up with outlook or samsung. I have been trying Samsung, so I downloaded the outlook app and I then had NO PROBLEM with it! I hope this helps you.
